Elon Musk: Officially a fraud and piece of shit. Official or unofficial war criminal?

This is something else that's crazy - Musk's obsession with the laptop/Hunter's dick pics, and trying to discredit the company's previous leadership.

The world's second-richest man is the world's most insecure man, because his actions trying to discredit the previous leadership smells a lot like things are really fucked up and he's doing everything he can to blame it on the previous leadership, when he came in like a bull in a china shop and wrecked a lot of shit.

Elon is on a quest to prove that the previous regime made intentional, malicious decisions to harm free speech and freedom. Or is it just possible that they made some unfortunate decisions that were never malicious. And many of their decisions could have been based on a long evolution of previous decisions. Not to mention that if they made 100,000 decisions there are probably some questionable ones in hindsight.

In the meantime, is this what it looks like when you realize the wingtards aren't exactly your best ally?

Imagine pissing off your loyal customer base to appeal to right wing taints that have no desire for your product.

This is fine.

It’s almost as if the free speech absolutists is using his new toy to ensure the truth about Russian war crimes in Ukraine aren’t shown in exchange for cheap raw materials from Russia for his other toys.

Surely not, though. Elmo believes in the free flow of information so that individuals can decide what to believe.

CHASER:

Quote

Twitter has banned @ElonJet, the popular bot account that tracked CEO Elon Musk’s plane, days after the account’s owner accused the social media platform of shadowbanning it.

Navigating to the account now returns the message, “Account suspended: Twitter suspends accounts that violate the Twitter Rules.”

Over the weekend, Jack Sweeney, a first-year student at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and the operator of the account, claimed that an anonymous Twitter employee had told him the company had severely limited the visibility of @ElonJet beginning on Dec. 2. The reported move came roughly four weeks after Musk made a big deal about how he wouldn’t ban @ElonJet because of his “commitment to free speech.”

Quote

By Monday, Sweeney said that it looked like Twitter had reversed course and reinstated @ElonJet’s visibility. However, the company seems to changed its mind again and taken an even more drastic move by early morning Wednesday, when some users noticed that @ElonJet was suspended.

Suspending an account even after he promised not to would be nothing new for Musk, whose interpretation of “free speech” has been all over the place, driving chaos at Twitter.

Quote

Back in January, Musk told the student via DM that he would give him $5,000 to remove the account because it was a “security risk.” Sweeney rebuffed Musk’s offer, but said he would consider taking down @ElonJet for $50,000 and an internship at one of the tech billionaire’s companies. In response, Musk blocked Sweeney on Twitter. Months later, after Musk announced his intent to buy Twitter, Sweeney said he had made contingency plans to keep the bot active on other platforms in case @ElonJet disappeared on the blue bird app. Faithful @ElonJet fans need not worry. You can still track America’s most infamous tech billionaire on Instagram, Facebook, and Telegram.

So they fucking added Steam to Teslas, because everybody was clambering to play Steam games on the dashboard.

I have no clue what Steam is like but it seems like he's daring NHTSA to step in for some unknown reason, or for a crushing civil judgment against (him and) his company the first time a tsla distracted driver kills someone while playing video games.

I figured he was treating Tesla and Spacex as legitimate businesses and Twitter was different, a $44 B toy to air his political grievances and be worshipped by those who agree with him. But it looks like he’s fucking that up too. I’d like to attend a business school course in 20 years and see how this epic saga is taught.

I don't think so. I think twitter files was his attempt to drive traffic to twitter because views had been sinking so fast. More than one "power user" has reported dwindling engagement on the site. He saw a multi-day "controversial" storytelling merely as an extension of his own shitposting, but one that would hopefully increase site traffic.

Yeah I'm sure you're right, his mastery of the outrage machine is working out really well for him.

I guess I'm only imagining that every single business he's involved in is basically on fire right now, along with his personal reputation, except spacex, although you can see the embers are beginning to fall on the roof over there too.

Steam is a PC video game service.  He’s bragging about playing video games on the center display.

Makes a lot of sense, and he clearly wanted the Twitter files to be a huge traffic boost, except those who would pay attention to the Twitter files….already knew about the laptop and dick pics. I think he was also looking for a huge boost in traffic from unbanning Trump, only to be snubbed.  Still not sure what the play is with unbanning the people who were openly pushing white supremacy on Twitter, because they would piss off more people than they would ever bring in, and it didn’t bring advertisers back.

You and others (and I) were right, Twitter was all about his ego and not about sound business decisions.  The fact that he’s acting like a bitterly divorced  man who lost visitation rights to his kids and spends his days following social media instead of acting like the world’s second richest man is lame.   He should be spending his time in exotic locations wooing Sela Ward or whoever, not spending his nights responding to incels.

Not in the business sense of which you are thinking in which normal metrics of success apply--

I'm going full on CR here, but there is precedence with having a failed businessperson gathering a bunch of very outraged angry people to do anything he asked of them.

That's hilarious. Are you under the impression that Elron is somehow eligible to be president? What metrics exactly should we be thinking about?

Do you think walking out on a public stage with absolutely nothing to say, just hoping to be adored, but getting voraciously booed by 90 percent of the vocal audience was part of his brilliant plan?

Oh, actually he did have something to say, didn't he?  "I don't know what to say." Doh.

1) Nobody is saying his plan is brilliant.

2) But we ARE saying that a significant percentage of the population is stupid enough that it still might work.

for a guy who touts the extreme importance on making humanity a multiplanet species, he sure doesn't focus very hard on the one company that helps us become a multiplanet species.

1. No, I am aware of the requirements in order to be a presidential candidate.

2. The metrics of using his platform to service the hate machine on behalf of other oligarchs and authoritarians like himself or to sway the significant percentage of the population to which @Brisketexan refers below to aid others who may fulfill those requirements or to sow chaos in order to benefit them.

3. He was not exactly in an area where he is beloved right now nor do people like surprises when they've paid for something else. I understood that he wasn't part of the original ticket purchase correct? Could someone have foreseen that? Well, anyone who has self-awareness, sure. But I believe the consensus on this site is that is not one of his strong suits.

For my own sanity, I hit pause on the outrage machine and went to the twatters to investigate, and I can't find it.  All I'm saying is that this matrix of exponential disinformation is working my last nerve.

Example - this morning - yay, I'm up thousands, got CNBC on, surely the markets have factored in a 50 basis point rate hike, no need to punch out.  Oh no now I'm down thousands.

This simulation is exhausting.

Musk lies, shocking no one

Musk Didn’t Even Vote in Midterms He Cared So Much About

Quote

Ultimately, Republicans narrowly recaptured the House, failing to deliver the forecasted red wave. Flores lost her re-election bid by more than 10,000 votes.

State and local records show that Musk did not vote for her—or anyone. He did vote during Flores' race in June, records show, and also previously cast an absentee ballot in the 2020 elections.

“Based on our records, we do not have any indication that Mr. Musk participated in the November 2022 Election in Cameron County,” the county’s election administrator told The Daily Beast.

The official added that Musk could not have voted in another county, since that would have triggered the cancellation of his initial registration.

An official in the Texas Secretary of State’s Office confirmed that Musk is only registered to vote in Cameron County, noting that any changes would show up in state databases. The office’s records also showed that Musk did not vote in the midterms.

I thought it was illegal to wire those front row screens for anything other than navigation, audio, and car control stuff. I know plenty of places will “jailbreak” it for you,  it the manufacturers can’t do that, right? I saw the screenshot and thought it popped up for the back seat folks, but it looks like the main Mac screen in the video ad.

I imagine you can wire whatever you want to it, if you just bypass some shit.

But on the back seat screens, ain't no rules.  Like the time I'm driving down Seawall Blvd on a Saturday night, got my young kids in the car with us heading back to a friend's beach house.  I'm behind a kickass pimpmobile.....then back WAY off.  Wife looks at me with a "what are you doing?" look.  I point to the screen in the back seat of the pimpmobile, which is playing a pretty graphic (and excellent) porn scene, fully visible through the rear window.  I was annoyed, yet....respek.

What I love is the idea that Mars is some kind of solution to sustain human life. It has barely any water, a practically nonexistent atmosphere, and no life. And because Mars has no significant global magnetic field, any attempt to create an atmosphere or water basin would be futile: the solar wind would blast it all away. So even if we could get a sufficiently numerous group of colonists safely to Mars, they’d be limited to living in small, artificial environments for eternity (like biodomes). Might as well just save yourself the hassle and build those biodomes here on Earth.

Mars is at best an initial stepping stone to a much, much longer journey to a habitable exoplanet.

My feed has significantly diminished in quality and quantity of tweets from the ~1300 accounts that I follow. I follow a few automated accounts (Bosch Bot that tweets a close-up shot of one of Hieronymous Bosch's paintings every 30 minutes, a similar automated account that tweets a still shot from King of the Hill every so often, etc.) and they used to be really spread out in my timeline, but as more and more humans depart, a much greater percentage of my feed is similar automated stuff.

I'm sticking around until it becomes clear which of the new alternatives allows me to curate a feed compromised of scientists and political hacks and racecar drivers and people who make dick jokes and art critics and companies I like and abject shitposters and everything in between. I really liked the range of information that Twitter once offered, but it's definitely a thing of the past.

I just opened twitter and the first few tweets on my feed are from Josh Hawley, advertisement (Prize Picks), Tomi Lahren, Liucci, Boebert, Matt Walsh, and some random dude tweeting about the NY Mets.  I don't follow any of those accounts.
