Elon Musk: Officially a fraud and piece of shit. Official or unofficial war criminal?

He’s comping blue check marks for some celebrities, officially giving “elites” special treatment which is what Elon and his idiot stans always thought was happening under the old regime and bitched about constantly.

Not to mention the Emergency Management Agencies.

The sheer recklessness of what Musk has done boggles my mind. Image

For every sector of officialdom, from federal all the way to towns Musk made a mess.

Replicated in every country around the world.

I'm picking national customs services at random to make the point.

Richest man in the world: I'll create chaos.

Then they'll have to pay me.
US public safety agencies are all over the map,

A good # of the biggest federal ones have a grey badge.

But the lower you go into regional offices, state & local, the worse it looks.

And situation is even more dire internationally.

Rich villain sowing global chaos to make everyone give them $$$ is the evil-scheme-that-always-splutters in so many great movies.

Because the near universal audience reaction is to want it to fail.

Epically.

Trolling Stephen King and LeBron is funny.

Thrusting Twitter into unbelievable chaos and losing billions of dollars to do it is funny.

Elon is putting on a mummer's farce for us, for free. It's everything we've ever wanted in a) the downfall of twitter b) the downfall of elon musk and c) it's free admission to watch it all unfold.

you have the lowest bar for trolling and comedy ever if you think that's funny. it's clearly not funny it's dumb. that's a very easy thing to understand and a very hard thing to mix up.

Holy shit - how can you fuck up a business model that's pretty fucking simple.

Well, wait, I guess you'd start with not doing really stupid shit and running off a bunch of advertisers, so he's behind the curve already.

At this point one has to wonder was he tanking on purpose, for loss harvesting tax purposes or something. What a mess.

Let's just add business people understanding business to this as well.

What is really comes down to is that the man has no business chops at all. I mean he has completely fucked up Twitter's business in less than 6 months (bought Oct 27). Advertisers are running for the hills. The blue check is the fucking scarlet letter. Trolls, racists and worse are all over the site now. What more can he do to the place to make it less hospitable?

Trying to shake down  advertisers for fucking $8 a month when you desperately need them is nuts.

The thing is, a rational person could look at what Elon has talked about going back to the 90s, and why he reacquired X.com 6 or 7 years ago, and say "twitter is a part of his bigger scheme to make X.com, his everything app, work", except that Elon very clearly and openly gives the vibe off that he didn't buy twitter for that reason.

He reacquired X.com 6 or 7 years ago. With far less than $44 billion, he could have built a social media app from the ground up on it, it wouldn't have twitter's baggage or infrastructure costs (or headcount).  He doesn't like advertising as evidenced by Tesla and twitter, so he could have kept ads off of it, charged a nominal fee, and he could have probably made it profitable with his fanboys and with those looking for something other than twitter or FB/Instagram etc. (and maybe taking a percentage of things like financial services, stock trading, etc.).

Not as funny as the detonation of twitter, but a close second is the impending implosion of Tesla:

Quote

The big story on Wall Street yesterday was Tesla’s stock taking a steep dive after a rough earnings report on Wednesday. With its margins squeezed by price cuts, Tesla’s market value shed ~$60 billion, and it became worth less than Meta for the first time since 2021.

what's more likely?

that he bought twitter for $44b (and like $20b of his own money), brought in many investors including the Saudi Arabia PIF, with a long term plan of loss harvesting for tax purposes and looking like a moron to the entire world...or that he doesn't know what he is doing and is lighting money on fire because he very clearly thinks he does know what he is doing?

for someone who so clearly cares what people think of him, i am pretty sure he isn't going to go out of his way to look like a moron to everyone and anyone who has internet access

Must be fun to be an American oligarch - just go and destroy a company and take or interrupt jobs and careers from thousands of people, all because you're an edgelord. I genuinely wonder if the government would step in with SpaceX if he started playing fuck fuck games there, or if Shotwell wrangles him solo

It's all laughs because it's Twitter. What if he bought Ford or GM, or Boeing, or a too big to fail bank and tried running it into the ground? Would the government step in and replace him given their too big to fail status?

It's kind of fascinating watching Elon's stans still fail to grasp what verification was for.

It’s really hilarious, this is the digital version of watching a handbag brand move from the arms of celebrities to suburban housewives to the trailer park and the people who paid Elon are now realizing—- it’s them. All the cool people don’t want to be associated with them.

They're sort of realizing that on some base level, but not really comprehending it yet. They've got the intelligence to observe the changes and understand at a very basic level that everyone still thinks they're huge losers when they had thought that everyone would love them as much as people love Lebron James and Beyonce now, but they can't understand why they were wrong or why it upsets them so much.

It's like having a time machine and going back in time to observe the humans who first started to develop actual cognitive thought. Maybe soon they'll accidentally discover how to start a fire.

This is what he should have done. ^^^

The biggest problem is that he is trying to charge money now for the same twitter experience we have gotten for free for years (and maybe a little shittier too). The revolt is pretty obvious, even among the wealthy.

Had he literally copied Twitter on X.com as a subscription based clone he likely does a lot better because while it's the same thing, it's a new platform and charging for it kind of makes sense.

But then again, that calls for having business chops and we've been over that.

Also that launch yesterday? Success, but Texas residents were told they had to clean it up.

Quote

As the most powerful rocket ever built blasted from its launchpad in Boca Chica, Texas, on Thursday, the liftoff rocked the earth and kicked up a billowing cloud of dust and debris, shaking homes and raining down brown grime for miles.

...

Mr. Roesch, who runs the environmental policy blog ESG Hound, said he believed the dust and debris came largely from a giant crater formed during the rocket’s liftoff. Normally, major launch sites are engineered with a trench or water system that helps to divert the rocket’s flame away from the ground and to dampen the impact, he said.

“They didn’t do that,” he said. “It appears they just went ahead and just launched this thing.”
