Quote

It’s still possible to find links to Threads posts on Twitter, but you’ll have to get creative. Searching for “url:“threads net”” with a space between “threads” and “net” is the best workaround we’ve seen, and you can also still search for specific Thread post URLs (like this). But the apparent restriction adds friction to the process, making it harder to easily find a broad array of Threads links on Twitter.

i love the high level of laziness they have on these kind of things, where adding a space gets around their search block.

Only the best (and most hard core) software engineers work for Elon.

Sidenote:  can you imagine the spaghetti code within the Tesla car os?

The code likely isn't a huge issue, the code can only work with the input it's provided, which is bad.

so i actually watched some of that out of morbid curiosity. according to Tate, he and his brother are charged with 'human trafficking' bc they allegedly were forcing some girls to do non-sexual TikToks and were taking the money earned from that content. he was adamant that they have not been charged with anything sexual. oh, and the 'victims' are all friends of his and have said they were not victims of anything anyway. poor guy's being railroaded bc he's so cool.

oh, wait.

All four suspects denied any culpability against the seven women who alleged they were coerced, often by violent means, to produce pornographic material for websites like OnlyFans.

On June 20, 2023, Tate was officially charged with two counts of rape, human trafficking, and forming an organized crime group to sexually exploit women.

Nicknamed "Project 42," the initiative is believed to involve a purchase of millions of dollars in special glass — large enough that it drew attention from employees last year. Limited liability firms linked to Musk and executives are also known to have bought large volumes of land in the area.

Concepts for the house included either a "twisted hexagon" or a glass cube reminiscent of Apple's 5th Avenue store. This appeared to be personal space as it included bedrooms, bathrooms and a kitchen, the tipsters said.

The status and results of the investigation aren't known. Tesla disbanded its PR department years ago, and Musk hasn't commented on the report as of this writing. However, the board reportedly wanted to learn if Musk was involved and whether worker time had been devoted to the house. Bloomberg learned of the glass order last year, but didn't know about the board or the nature of Project 42

@SydneyCarton is correct. Holy shit.

Are you suggesting he’s living in a glass house?

Clearly he is attempting to live in one. Of course, like all things Elon Musk, he found a way to fuck it up and prevent it from happening. You know, by embezzling the funds.

Imagine being the richest man in the world on paper, and deciding "fuck it, I'll just steal from Tesla to build my mid-life crisis/penis substitute house"

He told his Stans he wouldn’t own a home again, so he kinda had to find an owner other than himself for his insane home.

But then that whole corporate governance (deep state?) thing got in the way.

Also keep in mind this was the same dipshit who pledged to sell all his possessions and never own a home again.

But why would the world’s richest man need to try and claw back $90 million from a lawsuit that was settled before he even took control, and why would the world’s richest man allegedly need to get a company that he’s CEO of to pay for a house he wanted?

Y’all know he’s not the world’s richest man, right? Those lists are about who has the most valuable public assets. He doesn’t have all that money in liquid and there are a lot of people who are richer but don’t have most of their money tied up in public stocks. That’s why he goes to the Saudi’s to beg for money.

Everyone knows that man. You're missing the point. The guy can also go get a line of credit with any bank for 50 million dollars to build whatever home he fucking wants and the money would be wired to an account of his choice by noon. He doesn't have to embezzle.

Somebody either needs money or is still butt-hurt about being booted out of OpenAI/ChatGPT.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/12/tech/elon-musk-ai-company/index.html

Elon Musk on Wednesday announced the formation of a new company focused on artificial intelligence, after months of teasing plans to build a rival to ChatGPT. The company, called xAI, unveiled a website and a team of a dozen staffers. The new company will be led by Musk, according to the website, and “will work closely with X (Twitter), Tesla, and other companies to make progress towards our mission.”

“The goal of xAI is to understand the true nature of the universe,” the website states, echoing language Musk has used before to describe his AI ambitions.

Quote

Musk was an early backer of ChatGPT-creator OpenAI, but later criticized the company for inputting safeguards that aim to prevent the viral chatbot from spewing biased or sexist responses. “The danger of training AI to be woke – in other words, lie – is deadly,” Musk tweeted in December, responding to a Twitter user who asked OpenAI’s CEO if it was possible to “turn off the woke settings” on ChatGPT.

In an interview with then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson in April, Musk said teased plans for his new AI venture. “We’re going to start something which I call TruthGPT,” he said, describing it as a “maximum truth-seeking AI” that “cares about understanding the universe.”

Quote

Musk’s announcement of the new company comes months after he warned in an interview that he thinks AI could cause “civilization destruction” and joined other tech leaders in calling for a pause in an “out of control” AI race.

We further introduced innovative techniques and analyses such as Transformer-XL, Autoformalization, the Memorizing Transformer, Batch Size Scaling, and μTransfer. We have worked on and led the development of some of the largest breakthroughs in the field including AlphaStar, AlphaCode, Inception, Minerva, GPT-3.5, and GPT-4.

Wasn't Musk the guy saying he'd sue Meta for..hiring people who worked at Twitter?

Quote

Twitter has serious concerns that Meta Platforms has engaged in systematic, willful, and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter's trade secrets and other intellectual property.

"Over the past year, Meta has hired dozens of former Twitter employees... these employees had and continue to have access to Twitter's trade secrets and other highly confidential information," Spiro wrote in the letter to Zuckerberg. The workers, he alleged, "owe ongoing obligations to Twitter," and many "have improperly retained Twitter documents and electronic devices."

Even if he mines other data sources, you know his models will be heavily weighted to inputs from Twitter. He's creating a far-right AI disinformation machine. Get ready for certain people to start showing "proof" of their awful beliefs.

Twitter already tried a chatbot, right? Pretty sure it quickly became a racist holocaust denier. So he wants a generative AI program that doesn’t have safeguards? Cool project Elon

Twitter users wrecked Microsoft's AI bot in less than 24 hours in 2016, making it racist/bigoted. Since twitter is back to 2016 levels of racism/idiocy with all the unbans, I am sure that the xAI bot will be just fine if they allow anything goes interaction with it. Four Chan and other right wing trolls will not try to influence it negatively under Elon Musk's watchful eye.

Clearly in some kind of mood over Threads' overnight success, he wrote on Twitter: "It is infinitely preferable to be attacked by strangers on Twitter, than indulge in the false happiness of hide-the-pain Instagram."

Yeah, OK, chief.

crazy they wouldn't even bother to hit em with some protective wrappings - it would've been a hell of a lot faster than having to send some dudes with grinders all over the frame looking for rust. But then again, that's presuming that there was any sort of long-term planning with the cybertruck project

xAI, Elon Musk’s newly formed AI company, has revealed itself with a new website detailing its mission and team at https://x.ai/. Musk tweeted the company’s intent is to “understand reality” without any other details or explanation.

“The goal of xAI is to understand the true nature of the universe,” according to the website. The team is headed up by Elon Musk and includes team members that have worked at other big names in AI, including OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, and DeepMind (which was recently folded into Google).

I’ll go out on a limb and say this whole thing is bullshit, and he’s announcing it this week in a futile attempt to distract attention from Threads killing Twitter. The website contains no more information than the vapid statement quoted by the Verge, and the names for each of the dozen men listed on the team are just links to their Twitter accounts.

Isn't there some 'pickling' process where steel gets dumped into phosphoric acid or something to remove the rust?
