Elon Musk: Officially a fraud and piece of shit. Official or unofficial war criminal?

This is a sweet little story about the mind and life of the type of person who would buy a cybertruck.

a. Order cyberslab.

b. Get divorced by wife and move into an apartment.

c. Give no thought to whether you have a place to park your cyberslab at your new apartment.

d. After you complete the purchase discover you have no space to park it.

e. Whine on twitter to elmo that he should buy it back from you. Or at least let you re-sell it.

If he lives in a state with a functioning Lemon Law he'll probably be able to force them to buy it back. Eventually. But he's obviously not very bright so probably not.

Wait a minute -- if you buy one of those pieces of shit you are not allowed to resell it in the first year of ownership?

Hata proof! Forgot the name. Did not know he passed on. He seemed like a kind dude.

To be honest, I don’t know if he passed on either. But I like to assume that he did, and that he is survived by Uncle Geronimo.

Kind of...they threaten to ban you from buying a Tesla again if you sell the cyberstuck within the first year. They said it was because so many people are on the waiting list. But lately there's been accounts where someone who just signed up to buy one was contacted to complete purchase. Also there's accounts of inventory being kept at various tesla locations. It's probably a fake flex.

But the lemon isn’t the vehicle, it’s the owner.

LuCun has been dunking all over Musk on this one. And everyone is making it super easy.

The fucking fanbois are so damn dumb. They still don't get that Elon Musk IS NOT AN ENGINEER. He doesn't really get how things work.

totally normal things that a totally normal social media website does.

https://variety.com/2024/digital/news/x-twitter-porn-policy-update-1236023536/

Elon Musk’s X Now Officially Allows Porn After Update to Policies

Quote

In a recent update to its official usage policies, X says, “You may share consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behavior, provided it’s properly labeled and not prominently displayed.”

“We believe that users should be able to create, distribute and consume material related to sexual themes as long as it is consensually produced and distributed,” X says in the update, which was spotted earlier by TechCrunch. “Sexual expression, whether visual or written, can be a legitimate form of artistic expression. We believe in the autonomy of adults to engage with and create content that reflects their own beliefs, desires, and experiences, including those related to sexuality.”

That said, according to X’s Adult Content Policy, “We balance this freedom by restricting exposure to Adult Content for children or adult users who choose not to see it. We also prohibit content promoting exploitation, nonconsent, objectification, sexualization or harm to minors, and obscene behaviors. We also do not allow sharing Adult Content in highly visible places such as profile photos or banners.”

The move by X to formally allow adult content “dovetails well with the company’s post-Musk marketing strategy,” says Brooke Erin Duffy, associate professor of communication at Cornell University. “X is unapologetically provocative and has sought to distinguish itself from ‘brand-safe’ competitors” like Meta, YouTube and TikTok. With X’s recent policy update, she says, “the company seems to be courting those workers — including creators and artists — who have been marginalized by platform guidelines that tend to restrict nudity or sexual expression.”

So no twitter users in Texas now without ID?

I mean....that WOULD be the way it works, but, umm....I'm sure that our overlords will look right past that because hey, we need a place to mainline white supremacist content. That's SUPER important.

What's really funny is that only certain, ahem, adult websites are blocked by Texas, namely PornHub and a few others. Many, many others work perfectly fine w/o the need for a VPN.

Didn’t those websites actually block us in Texas to challenge the law? I didn’t think Texas had actually blocked any porn sites themselves. Pornhub and the others are blocking our access to not have to do the things Texas is asking like verify id. The other sites just don’t care and kept running and if they do get a cease and desist I’m sure they and whatever country they actually exist in won’t give a fuck.

Twitter question: I've used instapaper to save links to articles that I see on twitter that I want to read later. But lately it's been working for fewer and fewer sites. Is there something better I should be using? Basically I want Twitter to look like Google Reader circa 2011, when the internet was perfect.

When you look at the trajectory of the web’s most valuable properties on a year-over-year basis, things look especially bleak, with, Google (-0.9%), YouTube (-4.4%), Facebook (-7.7%), Twitter (-6.2%), Twitch (-11.9%) and Amazon (-2.7%) all still seeing significant declines. Only a few sites like Reddit (+31.3%), TikTok (+11.6%), Instagram (+9.9%, but trending down every year since 2019), and LinkedIn (+17.9%) are seeing any form of year-over-year growth. ( important to note that these are visits rather than active users and don't include traffic from an app)

There was a cybertruck a few cars in front me tonight while driving my 8 year old son home from baseball, he sees it from the back seat and I hear “Dad, is that one of those new luxury box cars?”  I tried not to laugh so he wouldn’t think I was laughing at him and I replied “well I wouldn’t say it’s luxury.”  We then had a short talk about what it was for real and his observations of it which was that it was ugly and had no curves just straight lines.

I've been looking into setting up my own RSS reader node since all the google reader APIs are still active

That's basically what you're looking for

Seems like those traffic statistics are inherently worthless as a result due to the important note at the bottom?

CNBC with a headline story that Tesla had a $500m order of AI chips from NVIDIA, and Elon personally decided to have them rerouted to Twitter. Delays Tesla's receipt of another order by months at least.

This is why you don't let your CEO run other companies. He decides the priorities between the companies to his own benefit.

Way to set up a Breach of Fiduciary Duty shareholder suit by Tesla shareholders, dumbass.
