The suit, filed in federal court in Texas, claims that the coalition, known as GARM, “conspired” with leading brands, including CVS, Unilever, Mars and the Danish energy company Orsted to “collectively withhold billions of dollars in advertising revenue” that were owed to X, then known as Twitter, in the wake of Elon Musk’s takeover of the social media company in 2022.

“The illegal behavior of these organizations and their executives cost X billions of dollars,” wrote Linda Yaccarino, X’s chief executive, in an open letter to advertisers. “People are hurt when the marketplace of ideas is undermined and some viewpoints are not funded over others as part of an illegal boycott.”

With the lawsuit, X effectively declared war on advertisers, which provide the bulk of the social media company’s revenue. Since Mr. Musk acquired the company and promised to usher in a new era of unfettered free speech, many advertisers have limited their spending on X, concerned by reports of rising hate speech and misinformation there. By pursuing legal action against GARM, Mr. Musk continued to break with the leaders of other social media companies, who have forged close relationships with advertisers and been responsive to their concerns about offensive online content.

Question: Do you still need an IG account for threads or can you just have a threads account now? Also is threads as good for sports breaking news as Twitter is?

yeah, you need an IG account to have a Threads account - dumb, but whatever.

And not sure about Threads as a breaking sports news platform - but I'm giving it a chance .

Hey genius- what is "free" in the free market?

Freedom from gov regulation?- nope

Freedom to do whatever the fuck you want? - nope

Freedom to chose who you buy from and sell to based on your own self interest? Ding ding ding. Seems like all your advertisers have decided that buying ad space on your shit platform is not in their best interest. Oh well.

ps- go fuck yourself. Ha ha.

Did his moron CEO forget how he literally said 'fuck you' to advertisers?  Now they wanna cry about it?  LOL, pussy.

Threads is terrible about breaking news of any sort.

So much vagueposting about things that are of no interest to me.

Uhhhh ...

https://www.mysanantonio.com/news/austin/article/elon-musk-school-19620455.php

It's official. Elon Musk is opening a school in Central Texas this year, and it may be open as early as this fall.

Ad Astra, Latin for "to the stars," will be a Montessori-style school on a 40-acre property in Bastrop. The school is the latest endeavor for the Texas-based billionaire, continuing to grow his empire in the small town outside of Austin. Montessori-style education is a form of self-directed, hands-on learning and collaborative plate.

"Ad Astra’s mission is to foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in the next generation of problem solvers and builders," its website reads.

Open to children ages 3 to 9, the school will focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curriculum. Only 50 students will be enrolled in the school, 18 between the ages of 3 to 6 and 30 lower-elementary students between 6 and 9, according to Fortune.

Does he think he's Professor X? That's a pretty inefficient acreage-to-students ratio.

Does anyone want to explain to this knob that Europe is in fact a continent, made up of many countries, and therefore it can't possible be a civil war? It would just be "war." Of it would be civil war in individual places, like the UK or France. Fucking moron.

The textbooks at Elon's school will call it European Civil War I (1914-1918) and European Civil War II (1939-1945)

It's okay if you follow specific musicians to know about upcoming shows/releases and broader city wide types of events or openings. Other than that, it's pretty worthless. Then again I never participated in Twitter so..

So I guess Elon is interviewing Trump next Monday. Do people still want to argue that Teslas aren’t MAGA mobiles?

There must be a Tesla team who are held responsible when sales are down. How can they not just quit when they see a news story like this.

This is absolute bullshit but I have a fear that Texas is going "hold my beer" and do some stupid shit like agree to the bullshit claim.

I have no idea if Elon's recent lawsuit with advertisers is legit. I assume not. However imagine the signal it sends to the existing or future advertisers.

Next Elon is going to sue companies that have never advertised on X because they should be advertising and failing to do so is illegally harming X. He most likely will find a sympathetic Texas judge who will blame it on DEI.

As he tries to quell violent outbreaks across Britain, Prime Minister Keir Starmer is also embroiled in a war of words with Elon Musk, the tech billionaire and owner of the social media platform X.

Over the past few days, Mr. Musk has posted incendiary comments and shared memes and videos about the riots in Britain to his more than 193 million followers on X. Violence has flared in towns across the country over the past week amid widespread misinformation after a deadly stabbing attack in Southport, England, last week, in which three girls died at a dance class.

“Civil war is inevitable,” Mr. Musk posted on X on Sunday in response to a video that showed small fires in the streets, fireworks being set off and rioters confronting the police.

A spokesperson for Mr. Starmer said there was “no justification” for Mr. Musk’s comments. Since then, Mr. Musk has continued to post comments directed at the prime minister.

“Why aren’t all communities protected in Britain? @Keir_Starmer,” Mr. Musk posted on Tuesday. He added “#TwoTierKeir,” a reference to the far-right claim that there is a policy of two-tier policing in which far-right groups are policed more heavily than others. (A government minister on Wednesday rejected those accusations.)

On Tuesday, Mr. Musk replied to a post on X that said “Britain is turning into the Soviet Union,” adding, “Seriously.”

The comments fit a wider effort by Mr. Musk to influence politics in several countries, including the United States, Italy and Venezuela, and at times sow discontent. Mr. Musk has become a loud critic of immigration policies in particular. He has become popular among far-right figures and has helped expand some of their platforms by reinstating the accounts of people previously banned on Twitter, as X was known before Mr. Musk bought it, including Tommy Robinson, an anti-Islam agitator who founded the English Defense League.

On Monday, Mr. Starmer posted on X, “We will not tolerate attacks on mosques or on Muslim communities,” after holding an emergency response meeting to the violent disorder over the weekend. Mr. Musk, replied to the video, “Shouldn’t you be concerned about attacks on *all* communities?”

Some British lawmakers have said they would consider calling Mr. Musk in front of a parliamentary committee to answer questions about X’s role in the violence. After the stabbing, misinformation quickly spread online claiming the attacker was an asylum seeker from Syria and arrived in Britain illegally by boat. Despite police and government officials pushing back against false claims and the decision to release the name of the 17-year-old suspect in the attack, who was born in Wales, violence has still taken place, fueled by online comments.

Britain passed a sweeping online safety law last year, but like other countries, it has struggled to effectively hold social media companies to account for misinformation and other inflammatory content on their platforms. European Union laws require platforms to have robust content moderation, but tech companies’ internal policies and enforcement are patchy.

In the past week, rioters started fires at hotels that were housing asylum seekers, looted stores and targeted immigrant-owned businesses. More than 400 arrests have been made. On Wednesday, the police were preparing for possible riots amid reports that more than 30 gatherings had been planned.

Mr. Starmer has previously called out social media platforms for their role in fomenting violence and warned the executives of the companies, without naming any, that crimes committed online will also be subject to legal action.

“Let me also say to large social media companies and those who run them: Violent disorder, clearly whipped up online, that is also a crime, it’s happening on your premises, and the law must be upheld everywhere,” Mr. Starmer said in a televised speech last week.

Idiots and money...

https://www.torquenews.com/11826/im-trying-sell-my-tesla-cybertruck-18000-loss-i-cant-seem-find-buyers/amp

I’m Trying to Sell My Tesla Cybertruck For $18,000 Loss, but I Can’t Seem to Find Buyers

A Tesla Cybertruck owner reports that spooked by the falling Cybertruck prices, he decided to sell his vehicle. However, it appears he is struggling to offload the vehicle, even at an $18,000 loss.

Pedro Hans is a Tesla Cybertruck AWD owner. After taxes and fees, Pedro paid $110,000 for his Cybertruck. Following this, Pedro has added modifications to his Cybertruck, including a complete wrap and full window tint that cost approximately $6,000.

However, to Pedro’s surprise, although his Cybertruck cost him around $116,000, he is not able to find an interested buyer to take the truck off his hands.

After listing his truck for sale on Facebook Marketplace, Pedro writes, “Well, we’ve already lost $12k. We paid $110k. Going for $98k or lower now 🤦🏻‍♂️Massive depreciation. I’ll be lucky to get $60k in April.”

Pedro listed his Cybertruck on Facebook Marketplace for “$98,000, or the best offer.” However, even though he listed his Cybertruck for $18,000 below the total $116,000 he spent on it, Pedro doesn’t appear to be getting buyers at this price.

For anyone who has closely followed the Cybertruck secondary market, this is shocking and emblematic of a wider trend in the Cybertruck world.

SAN FRANCISCO — Prominent X accounts advocating for Vice President Kamala Harris have been labeled as spam and restricted in recent weeks, triggering alarm among some Democrats that Elon Musk’s social media platform is tilted in favor of his chosen candidate, former president Donald Trump.

Only a handful of pro-Harris accounts, including one called “White Dudes for Harris,” appear to have been affected. But the recurring issues are raising questions about whether Musk’s platform is intentionally censoring the pages, or if the deep staff cuts he made after buying the company in 2022 have left the platform ill-equipped for the surge in political speech ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

I'm beginning to think that Elon didn't look at Twitter and think "I can make this better" but instead looked at Fox News and said "I can do THAT wayyy fucking better."

The next in a long line of tech bros that thought he could do media better than real media people. And like all others discovered that media is hard.
