A&M has a ton of returning production, which is generally a pretty solid barometer for improvement. Of course, all of their depth transferred, but injuries are so rare in football, it's fine.

Their schedule is pretty favorable. They avoid Georgia, Bama and Ole Miss. Get LSU, Notre Dame and Texas at home. Of course, they always have the 3 auto wins in non-con against creampuffs.

Their road schedule is South Carolina, Mississippi State, Auburn, Florida and Arkansas in Arlington. Not exactly scary.

I'm not saying they are sniffing the playoff or anything but 8-4 is doable with that schedule if Weigman actually stays healthy.

So we're behind 3 teams that didn't win their conference or make the CFP.

its almost like the idea that we have AT LEAST 4 fucking games next year against a top 25 pre-season team, might, you know, have something to do with our being ranked #4.

and maybe Bama wont be as dangerous without Saban, and maybe ou sucks donkey balls against us, but we would still have games against Georgia and aggy.

we could run the table. but 1 loss against GA, or Bama and we wont be ranked any higher than 4 going into the playoff anyway.

The good news is losing 2 isnt the death sentence it used to be before.  If our 2 losses were GA and Bama and we won all the others, we have a pretty strong case to still make the playoff as long as those losses werent TCU or Fl St beatdown levels bad.

I'm pretty sure that's not how preseason rankings work.

Tennessee's schedule is ridiculously effing easy.  I'd put them in the Top 10.

  • Sept. 7: Tennessee vs NC State (Charlotte) - WIN
  • Sept. 14: Kent State at Tennessee -WIN
  • Sept. 21: Tennessee at Oklahoma -50/50
  • Oct. 5: Tennessee at Arkansas - WIN
  • Oct. 12: Florida at Tennessee - WIN
  • Oct. 19: Alabama at Tennessee - 50/50
  • Nov. 2: Kentucky at Tennessee - WIN
  • Nov. 9: Mississippi State at Tennessee - WIN
  • Nov. 16: Tennessee at Georgia - LOSS
  • Nov. 23: UTEP at Tennessee - WIN

How the hell does this happen again?

They had one of the easiest schedules in the country last year. The only teams they beat who won more than 7 games were UTSA and Iowa (their bowl game)

I love how A&M is thrown in at #25. They likely won't finish ranked. It reminds me of our 2011-2022 run where Texas was routinely thrown in at preseason #15-25 and then routinely underachieved in comparison to the projection.

BuckeyeU is an interesting pick at 1. They'll do well from a relatively weak big 10 schedule, but with QB being the most important position in the sport, Will fucking Howard isn't going to get the buck nuts and pedo to the promise land.

They are so stacked. No idea why you think they shouldn’t be number 1.

No doubt they're stacked. But they're stacked every year. And they always manage to trip over their own dicks. And that's usually with an elite QB. Now they're stacked with Will Howard.

Kansas a couple of spots ahead of them must drive them crazy
