man i watched probably the first 7-8 hours of KB's Vietnam doc and then fell off it somewhere. Need to pick that back up. Also started on the Lucas stuff last night, and i'm enjoying it through one episode.

now then, I need some recs: give me your favorite 3-5 shows/movies currently streaming on netflix. go!

I'm sure it's covered somewhere else, but my review for "The Irishman" is:   Disappointed and overrated.

Slow, choppy, and such a letdown compared to "The Godfather".

My positive comments are good to see the older actors in a movie again and enjoyed the old cars.

Did somebody really ask if Mindhunter was worth it?
Yes...how the hell else would i know? I'm not going back through this thread because i know it came out 2 years ago

I enjoyed End of the f***ing world.  You'll know in a couple episodes and the episodes are only 20-25 minutes long.

Speaking of 6 Underground. I was in Florence this summer. How they did what they did absolutely blows me away. My jaws just dropped watching it. Unbelievable. Modern day version of Bullet.

Agree on Marriage Story: had some funny moments but definitely not memorable. Kept reading Wikipedia every time a mob name came up during the Irishman. Too long. The guy is the Zelig/Forest Gump of mobsters.

overrated. i, and many others here, just couldn't stick with it. for me it was all sizzle, no steak. doesn't hold up at all with the litany of other crime related shows that i watch.

What’s a couple best ones on Netflix? Ozark?

I'm through 3 seasons of Peaky Blinders, season 1 and 2 are legit, season 3 is okay. Overall it's pretty good, worth a watch... of course season 4 might make me turn it off, who knows... it's not up there with BB, but it's good.

Marriage Story is awful if you hate great acting, nuance, subtlety, and good writing.

Brilliant movie.  Does a great job of making neither love or hate either party.  Great acting in key scenes.  Supporting cast of Laura Dern, Ray Liotta, and Alan Alda are outstanding.

Nothing wrong with Peaky Blinders, many on here are still watching it. It’s had some spots that aren’t great, but this last season was well worth watching.

Many others? You are fucking high. The show has its own thread. It’s awesome.

The Witcher is looking like it could be pretty good for those who like the fantasy/swordplay genre. Dec 20.

Yep. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

Peaky blinders is still solid but yes not as good as first 2 seasons.

yes, many others. there were some "peaky blinders wars" awhile back between the two contingents, with plenty of people on both sides. it was a whole thing.

6 Underground is GREAT!!!! That Florence chase is epic. Whole movie is nice. Enjoy it while it lasts. Not sure why Netflix poured so much money into it.

Just think of the tickets they're going to get from the city fo Florence...  billionaire my ass!

also fruit stands explode...  but only if a car hits them

I've only watched the first episode but for a detective show I liked Hinterland.

It's one of those British shows where the episodes are 90 minutes but there's only 4 or 5 episodes in a season.

I could use a good crime related show. Any recs? Haven’t seen a good one since sneaky Pete, breaking bad/better call Saul.

Ozark is good. Mindhunter is badass if you haven't seen it yet. Altered Carbon is the tits. If you like movies/shows that paint a dystopian future, you will love it.

Even if you don't like that genre, watch it for Detective Ortega...

Thanks for the recs. I enjoyed a couple you mentioned so should trust the other ones. I loved Broadchurch, Russian Doll.

Look Narcos and Peaky Blinders are as good as it gets. Don’t listen to Derka

There was a thread on this site about the best TV shows ever, and a decent portion of that thread was the PB fanboys claiming it was as good as Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, The Wire, etc, along with another sizable portion of posters who were like, "uh, no it's not", including several, like me, who watched an entire season or more of PB and could not get into it.

i don't care if you or anyone else wants to watch PB, go right ahead; maybe it's your cup of tea. just know that the PB fanboys are some of the most defensive and delusional fanboys on the site, and that it's nowhere near the level of any of the shows listed above. it's on par with Ozark and Sons of Anarchy and stuff like that. but don't believe the hype about it being one of the greatest shows ever. it's not.
