No 24.  It's a Norwegian film about the Norwegian Resistance during WW2.  Really good movie.  Obviously, its in Norwegian, but I dubbed into English and had no issues. Currently sitting at 94% on RT and 7.5 on Imdb.

We were going to start the new season of the Night Agent.  Watched the preview and were both like, "I don't remember any of this."  We look back at season 1 and we never finished it 😆

I remember the characters, but not what was happening.

Going to start that and the Recruit S2 as well...

I'm constantly being reminded by the wife that we have already seen a show but it's like the first time I have ever viewed it.

Have seen all of these and agree that he is a very talented actor. Lot of talent in that age group and sometimes that's the way it goes some years with awards.

So, have a rec that I did a search for mentions but came up empty: Vincenzo.

It's a kdrama and you may think I'm giving a thumbs up to a female romance movie on a mostly male message board, but I think it's more of a dark comedy-korean style. We loved it. Watched it with subtitles (*I like getting the original actor voices and emotions) and the male lead (**Song Joong-ki) and female lead (Jeon Yeo-been) have an excellent supporting cast. It's 20 episodes and has been out for awhile but we really enjoyed it for the overall cinematography, the character arc/development,, the comedy (some of which you might have to have had some awareness/viewing history of korea/korean entertainment cause there are a few oblique references). It's not a rom-com by any means and I wish we had Hulu in addition to Netfilx because the screenwriter has another show that preceded Vincenzo called The Fiery Priest that has returned for a short second season and I may have to subscribe just to watch it.

Due to the longer episodes/season, Vincenzo gives the writer time to develop the story and the actors time to nail their characters. It's not perfect but it's better than many of the stateside shows I've seen recently.

*I know that some films/series from other countries are dubbed even in the home country due to regional dialects etc, but most of the shows from Korea that I've watched seem to not do that and the english dubbing bothers me enough that I prefer subtitles even if the translation could be better.

**Okay, okay he's very very good looking and that didn't hurt my appreciation for this series.

Ended up loving it. After a couple episodes I was balking then it dawned on there was bit of camp in there and I found myself grinning and laughing.

That popped up in my reminders list this week so we're probably going to watch it soon as well. I haven't seen My Name Is Loh Kiwan yet (another one of Song Joong-ki's films) that is also on Netflix. It's a drama vs thriller. I tend to save the dramas/genres/etc that others in the family may not enjoy as much for when I'm home sick etc. Song had a cameo in Queen of Tears that was hilarious but QoT is a romance/drama and my spouse isn't really into those so I watched it over a three day home with a bug recovery. When I run across a writer/director/actor(s) that I enjoy, I like to watch their other works. (QofT was directed by Kim Hee-won from Vincenzo).

(side note: QoT was okay, it got decent reviews but there was some sloppy plot/writing that left me gruntled. Same thing with The King: Eternal Monarch. Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun as male and female lead, respectively are solid professionals, and the supporting cast was fine, but the time travel stuff started to get a little forced towards the end.) My spouse thought the banter was funny, but I think he was 'humoring' me to sit through the entire series given that it's not his genre. He's really more of a 3 Body Problem preference.

Also: ditto on the commentary regarding spy/thrillers; we've enjoyed a lot of them over the past couple of years.

Also also: The Nice Guys is still on Netflix and we rewatched it again, (lost count on how many times we've seen it) and it is so under-rated and thank you to whomever first recommended it as it's just so hilarious.

I laughed
Australian chick made me crack up every scene she was in

It was amusing.

The New Zealand/ South African chick was absolutely the best thing about it, she stole every scene she was in.

It was funny her accent was part Aussie/New Zealand and then at times I’d hear South African so I had to look her up and sure enough she’s half NZ and half S.African.

I thought so too. I wonder if they'll keep the same timeline for future seasons (S1 and S2 take place in a 1 month timeframe) or if they'll jump farther ahead in his career.

Django is kind of WTF. I watched the first and about half of the second episode. It's a bunch of European actors who don't speak English as a primary language trying and failing to sound American,  much less Texan. And their whole concept of the West is just completely addled. It's like a bunch of Surly posters decided to make a movie about the war in Ukraine based solely on what has been posted in the thread and without any basic knowledge of the geography.

I'll probably keep watching because I am a sucker for westerns.

Watched S1 last night and will probably watch S2 tonight.  Pretty good shit.  The Paul Wall cameo was pretty funny, if predictable.

Surviving black hawk down was a “great” watch. Sad what those soldiers went through in a place yhey didn’t have to be in. What a clusterfuck of an operation.

Good buddy of mine from HS was in the 10th Mountain Division over there.  Dude was fucked up for a good long time after coming back.  Very Vietnam-ish, in that he may have been 21? 22 at best? w/ severe PTSD after a single tour.  I thought about him when Brad Thomas (guy w/ the Elvis Costello glasses) talks about the moment he switched from trying to identify combatants to "everyone I see dies."
