Mo is sooo good. Especially Season 2, and especially endearing to Houstonians and Htown sports fans. Such a great show.

Watch it.

I want those falafel tacos

Just watched The Tornado about the 2011 Joplin MO tornado.

They told the story from the viewpoint of five different individuals / groups of people.

Some shocking things they went through. The physical focal point of the documentary was on joplin high school.

I was born in joplin, and my grandmother’s house was 2 blocks south of joplin high school. She was at home when the tornado hit. It side swiped her house on the north side and destroyed it. The doc shows shots of houses torn to nothingness. It’s likely those shots were taken in the streets near her home.

I called my uncle who lives on the southern outskirts of joplin as the national news broke about it. He drove to her house and couldn’t find her. After the tornado passed, she walked to a neighbor’s house that was mostly standing. She ended up going to the hospital. That’s where my uncle found her. In the documentary, you’ll see one white building standing in a field of destruction; that’s the hospital.

Currently watching The Residence, which seems to be a blend of Only Murders in the Building and Knives Out. Each episode’s title hints at an old murder mystery, like The Last of Sheila! The production values are top-notch, and the visuals, particularly the depiction of The White House, where the murder occurs, are impressive. The casting is also commendable. While the pacing does dip at times, I really love the show.

We’re halfway through and very much enjoying it.

I had to google it. It's called The Electric State, and it apparently cost $300 million to make. 15% on RT.

Is MBB hot in it though?

That cost 300MM?  I should move to Hollywood and produce really, really shitty movies and sell them to Netflix.

Just finished Adolescence. The last episode is so intense. Incredible performance by the parents but especially Stephen Graham.
I just assumed that it wasn’t really one take but seamless digital takes stitched together. It’s really impressive.

Here’s a link of bts and how they shot each one. Spoilers obviously.

Just finished Adolescence two nights ago and Im still absolutely wrecked. Maybe because the boy looks just like my nephew but it is absolutely horrifying.

The 3rd episode the interrogation may be the finest hour of television I've ever witnessed

I just finished up Adolescence.

Holy shit that was outstanding.

I noticed the use of one camera and thought that was genius.

That really drew me into the scenes.

But now knowing how the episodes were made, again, outstanding.

I really liked Adolescence, too. I thought episode 4 was a rung below the first three (first half of that episode felt frustratingly slow, but the second half was great). I do feel like they left a lot of meat on the bone with only doing four episodes. Would have loved to have seen more from Jamie, the investigating officer, and an English-version of our DA.

I don't know. I think it handled it all pretty well.

Jamie pleads guilty because he finally accepts what he did or he realizes he can't beat the case. DI Bascombe realizes he needs to be more in tune with his son and what's going on in his life so he makes the effort to go spend time with him. The case was pretty cut and dry with the tape so there wasn't much to do but charge Jamie. Episode 3 really stuck with me because the psychologist knew there was nothing that could be done to help Jamie and that seems like one of the most depressing jobs in the world especially when it clicked that Jamie has angry breaks with reality and then returns to being sorry for what just happened. My only nitpick would be they never featured the victim's family other than DS Frank saying no one will remember Katie and only will remember what Jamie did. Jade was also a very tragic ending as you see her being all alone like she said would happen now that Katie is dead. They did a great job of making you think she deserved punishment to instantly making you sympathise with how f'ed up her life is.

Great performance by Stephen Graham who I kept wondering where I had seen him before. He was Tommy in Snatch.

The kid that did it in real life doesn't look anything like the kid in the show (hint: he's not white)

I hadn’t even noticed the discussion on adolescence here. I started it last night and watched the entire series.

The episode where they go to the store was amazing. One continuous take- house, drive, store, drive, house. And the emotional shifts were incredible.

Started the first two episodes of Adolescence last night. Really "enjoying" it so far.

I think the single-shot per episode is ambitious and impressive, but it's got its drawbacks. Particularly in the chase scene where the detective and the kid are "sprinting" at half-speed so the steady cam operator can keep up and film the action. It looked ridiculous and was very distracting.

The young man playing Jamie has a great career ahead of him.

Oscars and Emmy in his future.
