2) Who cares if there were more or less people on Michigan Avenue? Michigan Avenue sucks. It's like 6th street but instead of drunk college sluts partying it's rich divorcees shopping on white wine and pills. Only tourists go to Michigan Avenue.

If Chicago keeps up this pace will all the shooters eventually die to where it becomes a low crime area? Is the mayor playing the long game?

That's where I'm at on all of the trepidation and hand wringing over the Covid non-vaxxers.

How bad of a person are you, when someone puts almost 4 Glock magazines into you?

A man who was apparently ambushed after being released from the Cook County Jail in Chicago suffered as many as 64 bullet wounds to his head and other parts of his body, police said.

Family devastated after Elgin man killed during robbery near United Center: 'Love your loved ones'

Spoiler

ELGIN, Ill. - An Elgin man was fatally shot during a robbery near the United Center on Sunday night.

Relatives say the victim wanted to surprise his girlfriend with tickets to a Lil Durk concert for her birthday. They found free parking up the street and once headed to the United Center, that's when trouble met them.

The victim, identified as 18-year-old Jess Kendall, was standing in the 100 block of North Wollcott Avenue just before 7 p.m. with three friends when four offenders approached them, demanding their belongings.

The group complied, but as the offenders began to walk away, an argument erupted between them and Kendall. During the confrontation, one of the offenders struck Kendall in the head with a gun before opening fire, shooting him multiple times, including in the head, according to police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he later died.

Two others were also wounded in the attack. An 18-year-old man was shot in the ribs and remains in critical condition, while a 15-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and a graze wound to his abdomen. He is listed in good condition.

Jess, a senior at Elgin High School, was planning to attend rapper Lil Durk’s First Annual Birthday Bash at the United Center at the time of the shooting.

Thomas Kendall, Jess' brother, described him as "the most honorable kid you could ever meet."

"Love your loved ones," Thomas said. "You don't know what could happen in a split second. You know, the little kid was my best friend, my little brother. He was 18, we did everything together."

As detectives continue investigating leads, relatives want the public to know just how special their loved one was. Jess Kendall was all about family, smart, a lover of auto mechanics and enjoyed a good time. Kendall also did odd jobs for neighbors and seniors, according to relatives.

Kendall was excited to graduate and head to college pursuing a degree in automotives. Counselors were at Elgin H.S. offering support.

No suspects are in custody. The investigation is ongoing.

Chicago, like NY, gives me hope for our economy that we ain't even close to a recession.

Monday and Tuesday nights there are thousands of people randomly drinking and eating and generally carousing all over River North and West. I couldn't get a bar seat at either bar tops (upstairs and down) at Bavette's. I couldn't get into Three Dots. Everything is popping.

Make it make sense.

In the last 3 years I’ve lived in Scottsdale x2, Denver, Nashville, San Diego and Chicago. Young people are out everywhere. 15 dollar lunches here, 30 dollar dinners there. Those same young people turn around and bitch they can’t scrape together 5% for a mortgage while wasting money on delivery apps and rideshares. But 20 years olds have done that for awhile now.

It’s a drop in the bucket compared to their international travel expenses.

To save for a down payment, it’s absolutely all those small things added up. Single people aren’t buying 3 and 4 bedrooms single family homes.

No it isn’t and most 20 year olds don’t international travel

Ok Boomer

This and Avocado toast is the exact bullshit that squares away the behavior. Saving for a down payment requires sacrifice and finding 200/week from midweek drinks and dining out absolutely helps. Notice I said nothing about saving 20%.

Was in Chicago last week for a conference and was lucky enough to get two seats in the Bavette's downstairs bar without a reservation.  Fucking delicious meal, and the bartender (Kaitlyn) was excellent.

This city is legitimately amazing, second to NYC in scope. I did have an utterly underwhelming meal (but good experience) at Untitled Supper Club is my only critique.

Big plans, little money

Gen Zs — those born between 1997 and 2012 — are traveling more than Gen Xers and baby boomers, and are "on par with millennials, who are currently the focus of the industry," said Roeschke.

Alas, this is what every tourist/visitor guide ends up being. Almost included Hyde Park

I got a lot of mileage out of randomly saying "O block" to native Chicagoans who live in River North and River West. Vocalizing that is about as close as I would ever get to going south of LaSalle.

The Salesforce building in Chicago is really nice, do you often go in there? I haven't but I remember partnering with the insane young bucks back at the old salesforce office and you could view down from the top floor into the dive bar The Boss (I think it was called) and I do not know how those tech bros didn't get fired. Wanton and public drug use, blacking out, etc.
