I need to figure out this whole 2 Division thing.  Harlan couldn't hang with Brennan this season, but they are also on the cusp of a State Championship. I guess good for them, but too many winners in my opinion.

Brennan has won everyting easily this year.  Our only loses were to two teams up in DC during a pre-season tournament.  I'm hoping they come out strong and not complacent.  Kingston is one of my students.  Great, confident kid. But again, Brennan has some other kids.  I really like Juniors Donavan Criss and Isiah Ward. Isiah gets extra love from me because he came out to support our Water Polo teams!

2 division thing is like football now.

  • Top four teams per district go to the playoffs.
  • The two larger by attendance (not record) teams go to division 1 bracket.
  • The two smaller by attendance teams go to division 2 bracket.
  • Division 1 and division 2 winners are both declared state champion by classification. [Classification being 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A.]

A friends son plays for CC Vet Memorial 5A DivI

They're 39-0 and have won their 4 playoff games by an average of 29.75

Play Westbrook tomorrow night @ Bay City High school

honest question- how in the hell does a team from corpus have a record like that in a state like texas? i understand that they’re in region 4 or whatever and that most of their opponents will be from the valley or the lower gulf coast and not from dallas or houston, but that is a wildly impressive record. i honestly didn’t know that teams that far south could be that good. just generally not enough size compared to the big city/suburban schools.

Why is there no centralized state tournament site now? Going every year growing up from like 1984 to 1999, it was always a highlight.

Because they using the high school football playoff format with spilt divisions.  So instead of six state championships to be decided we have twelve and it would be impossible to have the now former format in a central location.   Unless they used two different locations simultaneously.

BTW baseball and softball will do the same and entire baseball championship will be at Dell Diamond instead of 4A playing their games at the Disch.

Instead of hosting the final four and championship games they had to only host the championship games since they have 12 games to play. I don’t like the final four games being at high school gyms so I don’t get that.

Good question.  They're not big, that's for sure.

Have a 4 star at SF.  6'7" Billy White.  247 has him #4 in Texas for 2026

They're averaging about 90pts/game and only played 4-5 close games.

It was a hella of a game. They got beat on the defensive end after their guards got in foul trouble. STP jumped and pressured on the perimeter. Harlan faked and either hit 3’s or drove to the basket.

The past few years if you’re good at basketball in the coastal bend you magically end up enrolled at CC Vets. Corpus is known for baseball but they’re no slouches at hoops either. West Oso had some really good teams back in the day at the lower levels.

They need another Josiah to make a run at a state title again - I think.

They've done very well reloading each yeah, though.

We'll see if Antoine wants to maybe climb the coaching ladder at some point.

Just checked and saw that I still have an active nfhs network subscription from football season.  Didn't know that, and it will be canceled soon.

But tonight let's watch some Duncanville Allen

I'm guessing he's white?

He won four state football titles, three in 6 man and one in 11 man. He led the nation last year in basketball scoring average and is taking Columbus to the title game this year. Unbelievable athlete… and yes, he’s white.

Yeah I knew he was white I'm kidding.

He's signed to play football for ASU. Next Skattebo?
