Like peoples' false memory of a genie movie staring Sinbad called Shazaam, I swear they made a follow up porno to this called Who's Ridin' Biden. I guess it was just a joke I heard because I looked it up and it doesn't exist but I've been referencing it humorously for well over a decade.

LOL, definitely has to be the Mandela Effect.

Solid B+ speech for Biden. He didn't and couldn't win the election last night but he could have lost it, and he certainly avoided that. He could have stuck the landing better at certain points and I am not thrilled with his handling of Israel but he certainly projected the energy and framed the contrast with Trump that he needs to win the election.

Katie Britt was really just background noise but from what I saw that shit was weird. Also, Republicans putting their rising female star in the kitchen is just... Of course.

I guess I should have clarified that I'm abnormal in that I realize I'm not voting in my own interest. Plenty of nimrods vote against their best interests when they think they aren't (cough rural white poors cough).

CRAPers. Conservative Republican Airline Pilots that pay 6k a year in union dues and vote for people who try to destroy what's left of their union's negotiating leverage.

Same here. The difference between us and MAGA clowns on that point, however, is we intentionally vote against our interest where doing so benefits others who need more help.

I vote for politicians who are more likely to raise my taxes while reducing the tax burden on the working class, because I think that a progressive tax system is fair.

The billionaire MAGA set votes with their pocketbooks. But the working Joes are just deluding themselves that Trump has any intention or capability to make their lives better. If working class Americans really wanted to improve their lives, they should be rallying behind someone like Elizabeth Warren.

I heard the Pod Save America guys say that in the days leading up to it, her people were comparing that speech to Reagan's "tear down this wall" speech.

A tale as old as time. "Well, they don't mean MY union" (narrator: they do).

Am I financially and physically better off than 3 years ago? Sure, but comedically think of all the weird ass shit we missed out on by not having Trump as president over these last 3 years. We probably missed out on some weird ass shit where Trump tried to give the Taliban Costa Rica in exchange for a Trump Tower in Kabul.

SNL should just replay her exact speech for the cold open.  It's perfect, don't try to make it more funny.

I'd imagine it will be Chloe Fineman who plays her this weekend since she's great at impressions and fairly hot.

I'd prefer they just show the cast laughing at her actual speech.  You don't see great artists trying to copy the Mona Lisa.  For a reason...

yeah, my little slice of that map got absorbed last time. Before I was Crenshaw. Woot.

Great post. Quibbling a bit with you and Huck, but I’m only voting against my own financial interests.  I view people as resources (future intellect, future economic drivers, future innovation) and I want to cultivate those resources, not depress them. And that means happier people, a more stable country, less concern over our future, etc. It makes my life better, so in that sense I’m absolutely voting in my own best interests.

A lot of this.  I vote against what are perceived as my most direct/immediate interests.  I could have more money in the bank at the end of each year if we lowered the shit out of taxes.

But in terms of long term, expansive interests, fuck that.  It's in my interest to have a stable and prosperous country going forward for my children and grandchildren (although the jury is out - my kids may have already "noped" out of here).  It's in my interest for my neighbors to do well, to be stable, safe, and secure.  People like that participate in their communities and commerce, fueling our social and economic engine, which ends up benefiting me.  Educated people are less likely to commit crimes like stealing my car and such, which also benefits me.  And the list goes on.

An approach of gathering as many dollars in your own pockets, no matter what the cost to everyone and everything else (and mind you, the MAGAs aren't even accomplishing THAT - except for the absolute richest of them, they didn't get richer under Trump) is utterly destructive and counter-productive -- having lots of money in a hellscape means you're still in a hellscape.  Check out the people with nice houses and money in places like Honduras - I expect most of them would much prefer to be middle class here in the US, where they don't have to top their walls with razor wire, burglar bars, tall locking gates, etc., where they can safely shop at the grocery store or mall, all that shit.  Having a functioning society around you is one of the most important factors in prosperity.

Very true. There’s no such thing as pure altruism. The key is that our self interest is also to the benefit of others—we desire a better world for everyone. Wealthy MAGAts don’t give a shit about that. They just want as much money as possible, and couldn’t care less about all the harm their greed causes everyone else.

Sir, they're just good ole' down home Americans, like you or me. They're everymen. No nee to dress up, because we're just hardworking folks who understand you and your struggles, because we struggle (with combing our hair) too.

in regards to Britt and other boiler plate GOP speeches of late; yeah i get you want a republican in the White House but i hope Independents' eyes roll when they hear the GOP characterize the last 4 years as a "nightmare". Histrionic hyperbole.

Is Biden perfect? No. Do i wish i could buy a friggin' sandwich for lunch under $15? Yeah. But anyone who has been truly living a nightmare the last 4 years.. that is on you, not Biden.

Without the "socialism" of a functioning, government-funded court system, you're fucking unemployed.  There's plenty of MAGA lawyers on this very board that are too fucking stupid to realize that.

I was going to say this exactly. Imo, those at the top of the pyramid benefit more from a larger middle class that has more money to spend on the products and services offered by the top of the pyramid. A tax cut may be of short term benefit to the wealthy. But if it increases the economic divide, they're ultimately diminishing their bottom line long term.

Mom's and Dad's just like me? I see nothing on the counters except a bucket of greenery and a tea kettle on the stove. Not buying that fakery.

When we first bought our house before we had kids I wanted a nice fancy tea pot for the stove as it was popular decoration at the time and cool looking on our gas stove. I didn’t end up buying one and now after two kids can’t even figure now where I could store it lol. These people don’t cook at home ever.

You don’t store a teapot. It stays on the stovetop.

I beleive his specific district is a real motherfucker of a draw.

They drew in Sugarland, which is very diverse, and dilluted it down with Katy and just straight up rural areas. I think it cross 3 different counties. It's infuriating.

Why did the 22nd district turn into Washington State Cougar's logo?
