[Remains Found] Caleb Harris, the disappearing A&M CC kid

Usually disposing of a body in a manhole would result in the body being discovered pretty quickly.  Unless the main is four feet or greater in diameter, the body will plug up the main and cause an overflow somewhere upstream.  The body would be found when a crew found and cleared the stoppage.

If the main was four feet or more in diameter, the body would wash down until it got to a lift station, where it would just float around the wetwell of the lift station until it decomposed enough for parts to pass through the pumps.  It looks like that could be what happened here.

Most wastewater mains are much smaller, <18” dia., more likely 8”. I’m guessing he was in that wet well since he disappeared but we’ll find out eventually

His apartment was about 2 1/2 miles from the Oso WWTP, relatively close.  The closer you get to a WWTP, the larger the mains must be to carry the flow as the smaller mains join together.  If he fell or was placed into an open manhole that close to the plant, the mains should easily be four feet or greater.  We'll see what the investigation finds.

Reminiscent of the chick who lost her mind at a hotel and went swimming in the rooftop cistern. The last images of her on the elevator are eerie.

During the search for Lam, guests at the hotel began complaining about low water pressure. Some later claimed their water was colored black and had an unusual taste.

I saw some documentary on that one a few years ago. All the youtube detectives harassing random other people at the hotel and connected to Elisa were embarrassing and shameful. I think they harassed one guy enough for him to attempt suicide.

Yep, Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel. That episode got my hackles up for sure.

Just a data point not wholly related to the topic, but a person can easily get sucked into a relatively small diameter gravity main. In 2020, there was a guy in Austin working in a manhole that was flowing and sucked him into a 18" line where he went for a ride until his body was recovered a few miles downstream at the plant.

My guess is too long has passed in that state to determine foul play or not. Unless his skull has a clear bullet hole or something like that.

How do you think the selection process goes when you've got 3 trucks and 15 firemen standing around the "honey pot" trying to figure out who is going down into the raw sewage, in June, in South Texas, to bag up the dead body parts?

Not sure the exact area, but generally these are closed systems.  Waste from homes/industries only.  Storm water (from street runoff) would not be entering this system.

meaning he somehow got inside via the heavy ass hatch.

shit, most are locked and located within a fence line

This is correct.  Storm sewers and sanitary sewers are totally different systems.  At least in Texas.

Also, the biggest sanitary force main I've seen was 36", plenty big enough to fit a person.  Gravity lines are surely bigger but it takes some powerful (expensive) pumps to force shit water through pipes bigger than 3'.

That's where the bottom sludge goes so they can remove solids, like plastics and metals and what not.

I thought that was College Station?

Fuck that noise. Although, they’re on air due to H2S, SO2, CO and diminished o2 levels down there, so once you get past the whole being in shit water thing, it’s not so bad.

Are you talking about a normal visit to a Galveston beach or the missing coastal aggy?

Condoms was your clue.  They don't use 'em on Galvatraz.

Stolen ….

BODY FOUND IN SEWER PUMP STATION - BUT HOW DID IT GET THERE? A body was found floating 17 feet inside the Perry Place lift station sewage well on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 3:31 pm. City employees made the gruesome find, which has left investigators baffled. The remains, yet to be identified, were taken to North Texas University for DNA testing.

But here's the kicker - the sewer main line pipe from the Cottage Apartments, where missing student Caleb Harris was last seen, leads directly to the Perry Place lift station across the street. And get this - the manholes align perfectly from Williams Drive to the lift station, making it seem like a straight shot for the body to travel.

However, experts say it's impossible for a body to be flushed through the 15-inch diameter sewer pipe into the lift station. So, how did it get there? Was this accidental? Or something dealing with foul play?

The proximity to where Caleb Harris went missing and the discovery of the remains has sparked speculation that it could be his body. But officials are remaining tight-lipped until the DNA results come back.

One thing's for sure - this is a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Stay tuned for more updates as this investigation unfolds!

When you're that rookie, you look at the next in line and tell him that you're quitting right there unless he gives you $500. Gotta use your leverage when you can.

North Texas University?  Come on, man, make an effort to be an actual journalist...

It wasn't written by an actual journalist, just some guy on Facebook pretending to be one.
