Congrats on the series win btw. Went from 14 games back to 12 games back. You guys are basically right on our ass.

Dont matter. Still nice to beat your asses. BTW 30-30 is running the 2004 series.

I love the line from Trump about how the Yankees are ok and George Senior is a winner.

Sucks about the injury.

Yeah. They’re fine.

Just feels lazy and plain compared to all of the others…which is how I think most people prefer these. But now that you actually get it, you want something more exciting.

Who is left without one? Yankees?

Yeah. Well them and the team without a city (Oakland)

The Yankees will never have one. You don’t candy up work clothes.

That was like a mandatory MLB thing for players weekend. It’s confirmed the Yankees won’t be getting city connects. Hal had no interest in participating.

BTW, why are the Yankees so hung up about hair, but fine with tattoos and wearing huge gold chains?

When your fanbase is primarily Italians and Dominicans/Puerto Ricans, banning tattoos and huge chains seems like a stupid idea. Verdugo was almost an immediate fan favorite when he showed up.

This A's writer is fucking bummin'.

Quote

Meanwhile, the A’s offense continues to strike out like it’s going out of style. Abraham Toro, a nice enough complementary piece on someone else’s team, has been thrust into the lead off spot while somehow Seth Brown keeps getting work in RF. Presumed #2 hitter Zack Gelof has been so erratic that he has been batting 7th, 8th, or 9th recently and is under .200 for the season.

Defensively, absent a true CFer the A’s have trotted JJ Bleday out there daily even though he belongs in a corner spot. Bleday routinely goes back initially on fly balls in front of him, which has caused middle infielders to have drift way out into short CF to bail him out. Brown looks like a beer league softball player tracking fly balls.

Miguel Andujar and Tyler Soderstrom are just trying to learn their positions and while they have done an admirable job their work comes with an understandable penchant for the occasional mistake. Max Schuemann only looks like a true shortstop if compared to the statue of Aledmys Diaz that sometimes hangs out there. And except for the brief Brett Harris era, Oakland has not put a 3Bman out there who is a true 3Bman.

Ohtani, Acuna, Judge within the last decade?

My reference of “true” rookie was for someone playing in MLB within a year of first entering the professional ranks. None of those three would qualify.

can’t wait til the pirates shut him down the first week of august or something equally stupid.

Like trade him for prospects, knowing they won’t be able to afford him when he hits free agency in 2030.

So about 95% of the rookies in MLB history aren't "true" rookies by your definition.

no need for anyone to attempt an obit.

Joe Pos already wrote one that won’t be topped 4 years ago.

Think for a moment about the first vivid baseball memory you have.

Perhaps you have a hollow plastic bat in your hands and a Wiffle Ball floats toward you. How old are you? 3? 5? Older? All you want to do is hit the ball. Where does that hunger come from? Who taught you that? Nobody. It is an instinct. You stand rigidly with your legs spread apart and the bat resting on your shoulder — maybe your parents set you up that way like an action figure. The ball dangles in midair like a disco ball. You swing the bat the way you imagine it should be swung, and you connect, perfect contact.

The ball takes off like a leaf caught in the wind, and you begin to run and stumble toward invisible bases that hide in the grass. You run a tight circle around the pitcher — is it your dad? Your mom? Your grandpa? Your best friend? — until you make it all the way around.

And when you get back where you started, you tumble over in the best version of a slide that you can muster. Who taught you how to slide? No one. You just knew.

That memory is Willie Mays.

Yeah. Teoscar had an extra minute to think about what pitch was going to come (and the pitcher to freeze up) while Bud was getting run after barking at Barksdale after the attempted check swing.

I wonder if Black even made it to the clubhouse before the ball went out
