Fuck brick pinstripe uniforms, open star caps, Junction Jack, Tal’s Hill, Sheriff Blaylock’s nachos and fuck Drayton to eternity. His posturing that there was nothing wrong with the Dome when Bud was trying to get a new stadium and then after the Nashville talks to move the team prevented us from ever having a realistic chance to keep the Oilers. Remember Drayton REDUCED payroll his first season at Enron Field. I did a 40 page paper on the Oilers moving and Houston stadium issues back in 1996 for my sports law class. Got an A+ on it and during my research developed a loathing for that Baylor son of a bitch.

Finally, Drayton’s lack of taste when it comes to design and architecture that is clearly visible at his toilet bowl namesake stadium at Rapelor is, unfortunately, also evident at MMP. The Sports Authority has approved money for renovations to MMP and Toyota Center.

I hope some of that money goes to re-skin MMP. Bullshit, hokey, fake old timey ballpark BS aesthetic never belonged for a Houston baseball stadium. Take inspiration from Bernabeu in Madrid and do something modern and consistent with “Astros”. Get rid of the outfield train and turn the HR celebration to something honoring our history with the Dome and space travel, maybe a rocket launching or something.

A guy doing something no one has ever done before would have been a contest.

I really don't think it would have been.  As much as I'm not a fan of Judge (almost solely because he's a Yankee), he's better at everything this year but SB, and he plays the field well and Shoehei doesn't at all.  Anyone voting Ohtani this year without pitching over Judge shouldn't be allowed to vote ever again.  And that's not taking anything from Ohtani, but Judge is clearly having the better season.

OPS Plus is 226 to 188 for Judge, WAR is 10.8 to 8.8 for Judge

I agree fans see them as similar years on the surface, but even a tiny dive shows a blowout by Judge would occur.

That Monday double-header in ATL will be very interesting.

They gonna play it even if it’s just for seeding?

if that’s all that’s left, gotta think you’re going to see two straight games of nothing but bench players to avoid having to fly cross country to play in SD the next day (vs MKE)

I highly doubt they will be playing just for seeding because even if Arizona loses out, they can make the playoffs if the Mets lose their remaining four games. The wild card scenarios for these three remaining teams are wide open. That double-header is huge.

Arizona is eliminated if Braves and Mets win their next two and Arizona loses their next two

Quote

Bobby Witt Jr. became one of the just 22 players in baseball history to have a nine WAR season before he even turned 25 years old. It’s quite the list:

Mookie Betts

Ty Cobb (twice)

Eddie Collins (twice)

Jimmie Foxx

Lou Gehrig

Bryce Harper

Gunnar Henderson

Rogers Hornsby (twice)

Reggie Jackson

Shoeless Joe Jackson (twice)

Mickey Mantle (twice)

Willie Mays (twice)

Stan Musial

Cal Ripken Jr.

Babe Ruth

Mike Schmidt

Tris Speaker

Mike Trout (3 times)

Alex Rodriguez (twice)

Arky Vaughan

Ted Williams (twice)

Braves have to play in San Diego if they win a game, so they might just send half the team to San Diego if they win game 1.

Ah, well, I'm sure the Commissioner's Office considered this possibility when they chose to tack the games on at the end rather than playing a neutral site DH last week, and they undoubtedly came up with a rule to prevent this from happening and will levy substantial penalties if any schenanigans occur.
