I'm coming around to team fire sale, I may already be there.

Team needs to upgrade 1B, RF, CF, and DH - badly. Not sure it matters how healthy our old HOF pitchers are with this lineup, which absolutely careered last year.

I guess beating the NL’s worst wasn’t a statement to the AL west after all. Huh.

Do you mean when we got swept by the Rockies or when we swept the AL’s worst team?

It was really fun when we were good at hitting, pitching and fielding all at once last year.  Lightning in a bottle.  I'll take it.  likley be another 20 years before the rangers org catches it again.

still will be better than Jerry's "we dumb boys"

Lorenzen traded to the Royals. Guess the sweep ended our season.

Yeah, maybe. What happens if they beat the Cardinals tonight and Astros or Mariners lose tonight? You're only 3.5 out.

I can say with high certainty that he is a better bat than Austin Hedges.

Probably not nearly as good of a blowout game pitcher, though.

Nahh.  Think it's a sign that Mahle and Bradford are going to be back much sooner.  Get a really solid Trip-A pitcher with years of control rather than the Aaron's Rental that was Lorenzen.  Good move

It was a terrible weekend, but I don’t understand your takeaway. If Lorenzen provides some return, let him walk. It’s not like you gave up Evo. His departure has zero effect on the future, and probably little if any effect on this season.

I’d love a non-Springer leadoff hitter. It drives me nuts when Semien goes yard in first at bat. He’s way too powerful and not speedy. Until he demonstrates more consistent home run power, I’d put Wyatt there. Bat Sem/Seager 2 and 3, and clean it up with Adolis while we have him and he’s still hitting for power. Bat Jung 5th, then some order of Smith/Heim/Lowe 6-8, and Leody 9th.

Smith does have some speed, and the highest qualifying OBP, so the move makes sense. But he’s slumping pretty badly. I’d rather shift him down to our horrible bottom of order. But this move doesn’t bother me.  Better than Sem batting lead off.
