After a hard look at our schedule I have come to the conclusion that they will go 99-63.

Starting out the season fast with a 39-19 record through May.

That’s gonna be an incredible run from April 19-May 31 after we start 8-12

The Astros haven't announced their Opening Day roster, but they optioned Corey Julks to Triple-A, according to their transactions page. That would mean Grae Kessinger made the roster.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.

Tayler Scott made the Astros’ Opening Day roster. Lance McCullers Jr goes to the 60-day IL to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Bennett Sousa is on the 15-day IL with “left shoulder inflammation.”

If you had McCullers to the IL on your bingo card (I think it is the automatic X in the middle) go ahead and fill it in.

Lineup kicks ass.  Bench is solid.  Rotation high variance.  Leverage relief kicks ass.  Middle relief very suspect.

Blanco and France will pitch Sunday ans Monday. The order has yet to be decided. France’s wife is expecting a baby, which is why there still some uncertainty.

Damn, Blanco's wife just had a baby a day ago. I'd like to think that both pregnancies happened during a key party amongst the Astros starting pitching staff right after JV came back and brought Kate with him.  And that Case McCoy has the tape somewhere.

Things that will definitely happen this year:

Astros win 100+ games

The thread enjoys the fact that most lineup decisions are defensible and make sense

LMJ pitches more than 20 innings

Garcia pitches more than 40 innings

Yordan wins an MVP

Bregman has a monster year

Hunter Brown takes a huge step forward

Javier goes back to being good at baseball

The lineup scores somewhere between 850 and 900 runs

The pitching staff gives up less than 700 runs

2 Astros receive CY Young votes and neither one is JV

Forest Whitley throws his first pitch in the major leagues

Jake Meyers is passable at the plate- hits 9th- everyone bitches about him (ops+ of 95)

Jeremy Pena hits a home run sometime in the second half of the season- unlike last year

Yainer has an 850 or so OPS and is worth 3.5 or 4 wins

Maldonado is released. Someone on here suggests we bring him back to work with the pitchers- I establish a rock solid alibi and then hunt them down and stab them in the neck

We do nothing particularly exciting at the deadline

Bryan Abreu has an ERA slightly less than 18 and he's still capable of getting major league hitters out

We go into the playoffs as the betting line favorites to win the AL.

JP France, Ronel Blanco and Brandon Bielak have a combined era between 4.25-4.75 and a winning record overall.  People still fret about how we need more pitching b/c a couple guys sort of suck.

Blanco had his kid first and before the season

he gets to pitch first
