You’ll never convince me that games at 1:32, 3:08, 4:32 and 7:38 will get more eyes than two games at 5:30 and 2 games at 8:00.

It’s playoffs. We need prime time.

This.

time to bully the mlb in to this like going back on the all star game jerseys.

i’m sure there is some dumb shit written in to the TV contracts. The espn deal is through 2028, but espn has an opt out after next year.

if the nfl is comfortable enough putting two games on MNF at the same time, MLB can do the same thing with the WC/LDS rounds.

Would be nice to include the number of players in parentheses in each category.

i’m drawing a blank, what does “NOFA” mean?

really interesting how much the NL teams have relied on trades and free agency…

and how much Luhnow’s legacy still lives on in Houston and Baltimore, and to a lesser extent Milwaukee

If the Yankees hold serve, the only playoffs games we’ll have at home on the weekend (Fri-Sun)* would be games 4 and 5 of the LCS. Game 4 (Friday, Oct 18) would likely be primetime at least as that’ll be getaway day for the NLCS.

Game 5 of the ALCS (assuming we don’t sweep the Yankees) is on Oct 19 and is the only game that day (meaning it’ll be in primetime). So root for an afternoon Texas/UGA kickoff.

* - assumes at least 1 of the LCS’ goes 6 or 7 games. If both finish in 4 or 5, we’d host games 3-5 of the World Series Fri-Sun Oct 25-27. Otherwise, World Series games in Houston would be Mon-Wed Oct 28-30.

That's NDFA.  Non-drafted free agent.  So a draft-eligible player signed after they go undrafted.

Yordan can hobble out using his bat as a cane, flip a pitch into the Crawford Boxes, then take three minutes to circle the bases.

Wilder only agreed to play the part of Willy Wonka on the condition they let him fake having a limp in the opening scene on the idea you wouldn’t know for the rest of the movie if he was lying or not /csb

Which also exactly sums up our medical staff/front office when it comes to injuries.

I will wear my 1980 Mitchell & Ness Earl Campbell jersey until the day I fucking die.

# of times someone has come up and said shit to me about it: 0

# of times people have come up to me and talked about how they miss the Oilers & loved Earl: don't know lost count

I would have probably put Verlander on in lieu of Neris but otherwise don't have too many gripes.  How on earth are McCullers & Urquidy on the taxi squad?

So they can be in the dugout

Hayward for Meyers, and Singleton for Caratini?

Against a RHP yeah- I imagine that will be the subs. Unless the Astros are up 2 or 3 in which case Meyers stays in for defense.

I think I'd have played Dubon at 1B, Chase in LF and had Caratini as my bullet off the bench since he's better as a LHB than a RHB and I still have some residual faith in Chas being able to hit LHP- but that's not a complaint about this lineup for me it's a slight preference that's really more a hunch than anything.

Well, he just pitched Saturday and wouldn't be available until Thursday at the earliest so pretty much a waste of a spot in a three game series.

If you mean for today, no way.  Singleton and Heyward are awful against lefties.  But against a righty I think you’ll see Heyward for Dubon and Singleton for Caratini.  If McCormick were fully healthy I’d rather he be in LF than Dubon but otherwise I like this lineup.

Looking at the stats of Detroits starting lineup tonight, I’m baffled they made the playoffs. They only have 2 players with a BA over .250 and 2 players with more than 10 HRs. Astros are starting 8 players with a BA over .250 and 7 players with over 10 HRs. Mismatch on paper

Exactly my initial reaction

so infuriating

Why?  For a good chunk of the year, our best lineup was not available.  Our struggles with injuries illustrates the need to manage in rest for players and keep the powder dry.  If you take away the first month of the season, this team is easily in the running for the 1 or 2 seed.  They won the division after a terrible start while still managing player rest.  I admit that I was concerned because there wasn't much room for error after the bad start, but I'll be damned if they didn't pull it off again.

Games vs Chicago helped but yeah the Mariners really did have to work hard to have a +29 run diff on the Tigers and miss the playoffs this year.
