Not a great feeling about this series. Yordan is dinged at the absolute worse time and Skubal almost certainly appears on Thursday.

So dinged up he hit hammered a single through the right side at 114 mph and an oppo double at 100 mph

I’m still anxious, even after 104 postseason games since this current run of success started…just the nature of the beast in a very short series.

but glass half full: we were a few feet higher, left, or right from being tied in a game our best pitcher looked like shit and our offense was going against the first full season AL triple crown winner since JV in 2011.

bullpen games make me nervy with our offense and their often times shitty, shitty approach, especially against a Tigers pen that is better than ours, but going to hang my hat on the more guys you throw out there, the better the chances the moment is too big for one (or more) of them and we take care of business.

Holy shit that was a game.  Playoff baseball is amazing.

As a Tigers fan, I forgot how insane playoff baseball is. That 9th inning was a fucking white knuckle ride. What a game.

The conspiracy up here today is they pulled skubs under 100 pitches with the plan he gives 80 more pitches tomorrow if needed. I don't love that idea, but if anyone is going to do it it is that fucking machine.

Ha. Skubal isn’t pitching on Thursday man. If he does like an inning (he ain’t pitching)

I have to agree here, that would be fucking bonkers, but the sports talk this morning is all about "why not let him go" if you weren't going right back to him.

Astros offense is always my number 1 concern. You just have to hope they are got today and never have that lock feeling you’ll know they will show up for at least 3 runs. 3-5 runs feels like the ceiling with this shit offense and most of those runs are solo shots. Need brown to be locked in long enough to give us a shot to slap a few solo shots for that amazing 2-0 Astro lead in the 6th.

Astros would fuck him up if he didn't fuck his arm up first

Given where we are, I think we'll overachieve if we win 90 counting the postseason.

Back when things were looking especially grim a couple months ago, I threw out 90 wins for this team — including the postseason — as "overachieving." Several times since then I've thought that prediction to be too low, but as of today I'd be thrilled to get there. If we do, we'll at least have given ourselves a chance to add to it. I remain hopeful.

If Meyers is anywhere near that field today we are not a serious team. Can’t believe I want Chas back in there but the only thing better than that 9th inning walk would of course been a hit. But that was a really good at bat for coming where he’s been lately and this year. He might have something left to give. Meyers .170 for last month and rag arm can go sit.

I hope we replace our whole outfield besides Tucker before next year. Im done with this close your eyes and cross your fingers outfield.

Dating back to last year at home in the postseason and you add yesterday the Astros have scored 21 runs in 7 postseason home games so we average around 3 runs a game.

10 of those runs were at home vs the twins in the ALDS. So in our last 5 games at home we’ve scored 11 runs. I don’t understand why we fucking suck so bad at home but here we are again. Would be nice to see us breakout today since we are way past being due.

Agreed that Meyers should not be in todays lineup, but doubt it happens.

Altuve
Yordan
Tucker
Bregman
Diaz
Caratini
Pena
Heyward
Chas

Is what I would roll with.

Thought the same thing re: Chas. bat was a tick slow but was actually disappointed he walked with how well he was picking up the pitches in that AB

I was convinced he was going to strike out swinging after he got to two strikes so that walk was a very pleasant surprise. Heyward was close to tying that game or maybe even walking it off if the ball finds the corner.

Jesus Christ they are going to the bullpen game in Game 2???
Also why the hell did they put Skubal day-to-day?
Hinch was just on MLB Network

Skubal hand got fucked up a little, but no chance he was coming out over that. The later in the game issue was hamstring. Said it tightened up a little. He got through the inning and Hinch pulled him.

Said everyone is available for them today except obviously Skubal

He is gonna be going to the mound early and often

I hate 2 out of 3 playoff series but I think we win next two and then wreck shit in Cleveland. Besides my typical gripes everyone is tired of hearing, I still think this team can win longer series because the pitching plays and over 5-7 games they usually find enough hits. Gotta get these next two.

Yeah I'd rather MLB add 2 playoff teams and make it a 5 game series for everyone.  You get 8 teams in the playoffs per conference in every other sport....

The postseason runs too late the way it is (at least until every team has a roof/controlled environment which will never happen).

They’d need to shorten the regular season back to 154 to do this, which I don’t love, but don’t hate either

5 game WC
5 game LDS
7 game LCS
7 game WS

No different than now in terms of number of games...

You might get that once MLB expands to 32 teams
