Making of a Murderer on Netflix, you've been warned it is long.  However, we stuck it out and I think it is worth the watch.  Steve Avery gets shafted by the LEO's in Wisconsin.  Falsely imprisoned, released after 18 yrs, prison again, chaos, etc. People think the law is whacked in the South, HA.  Stay out of Whisky.

We watched the first 2 episodes of Season 2, and then went back and rewatched Season 1.

Everyone knows the adage about truth being stranger than fiction, but holy shit this story is just bonkers all the way around.

Freedom on Fire and Winter on Fire are must watches along with 20 Days in Mariupol.

This was hauntingly good, and of course, incredibly saddening as a human.

Really enjoyed "Rather" on Netflix.  About Dan Rather and his career in the news.  Forgot how many high-profile stories he covered over a very long career.  And a good Texan to boot.

Secrets of the Octopus on Hulu.

Just fascinating animals and smart af.

Favorite scene so far is a fight between an octopus and boxer shrimp.

The octopus uses a clam shell as a shield and blasts the little bastard with dirt until it swims away.

I've watched the first two episodes.  They are to coolest animals on the planet.

Watched the first episode of “Secrets of the Octopus.”  What a trip.  Took a gummy beforehand as well.  Fascinating creatures.

Now imagine feeding a gummy to an octopus.

We’ll see how the rest goes.

I’m liking it so far. What a wild story it all is.

I remember when the original Jinx came out in 2015. IMO it’s what really started the modern true crime craze, even though Making a Murderer was more popular and came out a year later.

Im a carnivore. Grilled octopus is a favorite. But it’s one of the few animals I won’t eat on moral grounds.

disappointment.

I did not care for the opening dialogue/interview, because they fucking cut it like YouTubers who don't believe in having pauses in between sentences, to the point where Jackson and Lindsay-Hogg sounded like they were talking on top of each other.

My wife and I had the same dilemma.  We love grilled octopus, but I'd have a hard time eating it after watching this.

I never order octopus, one of the smartest animals on the planet.  This stance does not go over well when visiting places like Greece.  Don't eat primates, whales, dolphins, dogs, cats, horses, etc for the same reason.  They might be delicious, but I'm not doing it.

Add humans into that mix, and I'm with you.

"Humans or modern humans are the most common and widespread species of primate..." - Wikipedia

"Humans are primates. Physical and genetic similarities show that the modern human species, Homo sapiens, has a very close relationship to another group of primate species, the apes."

Man, fuck, watch the end of the HBO Jinx shit. Believe that.

One of the great documentary moments ever. Enjoying Season 2 so far. Just an absolute ape shit crazy story. IMO - the peak of true crime docs along with The Staircase and Thin Blue Line.

Expedition from Hell on Discovery and Max
Anyone watching this?
Pretty gonzo.. maybe it is the German accent of the expedition leader, but giving off Werner Herzog vibes. They are doing pretty good about suggesting something ominous happened; i hope it is not a rope-a-dope.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that has seen this. First 2 episodes were great. Who in their right mind would agree to do this? Yes, it seems something ominous does happen. It’s crazy that they aren’t all dead.

yeah, that expedition leader just unloads on this Matt guy unmercifully. And then he nearly dies twice (nearly falls off a 400' cliff AND almost swept away in a river) in the episode I saw, which i think was episode 3,

i need to go back and watch episode 1 and 2.

Found this summary on reddit: "It's like Fyre fest and Bear Grylls got together and made chaos, baked it at 400 degrees of stupidity, and add a dash meglomaniac."

I rationalize it because their lifespan is only like 4-5 years.

It’s fucking nuts. It’s like watching “how to do everything wrong in the wilderness”.  Matt absolutely was about to die of heat stroke and dehydration in episode 2. He should/would have been airlifted out to a hospital if he were in the States.

Binged the 1st 4 episodes this weekend.   Mickey Grossman is one of the most unlikable people I have ever seen.   I will continue to watch the series each week hoping that something terrible happens to him.

I turned it on for 10 minutes and it was just some asshole relentlessly berating his camera guy.  Had  no interest in viewing that kind of negativity so changed the channel and never went back.

^Sorry to post without commenting on that, but I don't like typing on my phone.

My wife and I watched this one last night, and enjoyed it.  It takes you through 1 year of the Blue Angels, with the crew training, then going on tour, selecting next year's pilots (Naval Aviators), and wrapping up the season.  They do 60+ shows in 30+ cities from March to September or so.

There are plenty of amazing shots from the ground, from the Angels themselves, and from other aircraft, all in HD.  They filmed this in IMAX, and you'll want your surround sound on.

The flight physician was cute.

you'd think the two Americans on the expedition at the time when Luci was "interviewing" to join would have been waving their arms furiously, mouthing silently :  NO, NO, NOOOO!!!!

So much of this didn’t make any sense and the ending was shite. I guess that’s why this wasn’t a bigger deal. Watching all that footage to put this together must have been a BEATING.

Knowing Mickey wasn’t going to die sucked.
