Winning zero races and zero battles.  Being outphysicaled, I assume in part to stay off the pk, while edm is playing hard nosed playoff hockey on the edge.

Bingo, just outworked badly.  Rage.

Worst overall game of the playoffs.  Just never recovered after they grabbed momentum in the first.   Going to have to dig deep on Friday if Tanev is out.   This team has a knack for bouncing back strong.

Really hope tanev is back Friday. He's been a fucking g back there. I was just listening on and off due to work. Did he just take a puck?

yes off the ankle.

Stankoven can handle the puck but just gets lost - him and the puck - any time he’s challenged. The little dude just gets swallowed.

he tries that chip and charge around all the time but he never gets by and like you say gets swallowed up by the defenseman.

I didn’t see it on any replays but that last hit by Robo where their guy threw himself down grabbing his face, it seemed like he got right up after realizing there was no call.

There really ought to be some sort of penalty for doing that.

I fear this for his career. He's like a lot of guys that are jitterbugs playing football or basketball. They look neat, but very rarely do they have sustained success. They look fast because they’re quick, but most opponents are as fast (but might not look like it because they’re bigger). Once pros put bodies on guys like that, it’s over no matter the sport. Love his hustle but just not impressed.

JFC.  He's 21 years old and was a 2nd round pick (#47 overall).  Nobody is expecting him to be a top 10 player in the league. That was never his ceiling.   Many teams that passed never thought he could play at this level period given his size.

He would be a top 20 pick in a redraft.   It's fantastic value to have gotten him where we did and he will be a huge asset for this franchise.  Edit: I found a redraft from BEFORE this season that had him as a top 10 pick (#9).  I bet we see that consistently when these lists start getting made more frequently the next couple of years.

Back to more important things, I randomly came across a twitter doc that tweets about NHL injuries and he thinks Tanev is either a broken bone in his foot (6-8 weeks) or a bone bruise (day to day).  We obviously won't know for sure until he either plays or season is over.  Like Deboer said, fingers crossed.  This team can win a game without him but don't think they can win the cup without him given lack of defensive depth with Hakanpaa seemingly not close (he didn't even travel).

We can score goals with anybody. We can grind and claw with the best of them.

What we can't do is withstand our own good fortune.

The cloud in my head says that Tanev will be "day to day" until he returns late September to (somebody's) training camp.

Edmonton knows we spread out high and look to the middle on our PP. Stop throwing the puck into the center knot of bodies. They're standing there waiting for it. FFS, get low and press toward the net. Make them come get it.

Sounds like Bichsel if not Tanev.  19 YO with an NHL debut 2-2 in the WCF against the best player in the world?  Go get em' Tiger LOL.  We need to score 5+ goals tonight.

DeBoer could be playing games but here’s an update from Heika:

Right, saw that.  I mean DeBoer acted like Hakanpaa could be back in the Vegas series.  I take everything he says with a grain of salt.   But fingers crossed he's actually telling the truth on this one.
