Pain.

Yep. Hard to believe it’s the end of the season. Caught a bit of DeBoer’s presser on The Ticket last night. It was brutal as you could hear the Edmonton crowd with the “We want the Cup” chant in full throat while DeBoer was asking questions. Just awful.

Will be interesting to see what everybody was dealing with injury-wise. Postgame show was discussing this a bit last night. Sounds like Roope has some sort of hand/wrist thing. Seguin has been playing hurt too.

Good season.  Ending sucked. Let's fix our weak spots and try it again next year.

I'm OK bringing back the entire roster and adding another defender. Wedgewood's numbers were above average this year but he's not a high-caliber goalie. I'd like somebody better there as the backup. I'm beginning to wonder if Otter is in that weird space where he's too good to ever think about benching in the playoffs but also not quite the superstar we thought we might have on our hands after that Calgary series. (I say this with full knowledge that non-superstar goalies have won the Cup in recent memory.)

I think Otter is absolutely good enough to win the cup.  He played fine this past series considering who he was up against.  There were probably only 2-3 goals the entire series he probably wants back.  It was our special teams play and D at times that really fucked us.  Most of their goals were no doubters.  Outside of Robo's hat trick game nobody really stepped up offensively.  We scored what - 12 non empty net goals in 6 games?  That flat out doesn't cut it.

I'll be surprised if Pavs doesn't retire.  Duchene is interesting because he was great for most of the season but didn't do much down the stretch or in the playoffs (besides the game winner against the Avs obviously).  I just have no idea what his expectations are in free agency.  Does he want to max out $$ and years? If so that probably isn't with Dallas.  His best pure $$ option might not be with a real contender.  There is a number where I think he works for us but not sure that number works for him considering we have more pressing needs.  Tanev is obviously the biggest need but of course his Agent knows that as well. Offseason will be interesting but that is probably a different thread.  But we are in a much better position starting off than most of our competition.

Oilers better get ready. Panthers bout to wear that ass out.

Florida was the best I've seen live.  We played pretty much a perfect 2 periods of hockey (and should have scored more) but then Florida turned it on in the 3rd and won it.  They were always the team I was hoping to avoid in the finals if we made it.  So yeah, I tend to agree with you.

Yeah fla is scary.  But the oil team that just finished us off looked plenty scary over 6 games.  If their special teams remain ridiculous, why wouldn’t they be able to win?

I'm guessing FLA special teams won't be a complete disaster v. Oilers ST but we will see.

This one was painful to me. I thought we were deep enough to get by EDM. 2019 season was a holy shit I can’t believe it but this year I was confident.

Maybe Joe can come back and las Vegas his way in to the playoffs like Stone. I sure want him to lift the cup.

we just don't have "that guy" who you need when the chips are down.  Lots of good players but that's unlikely to be good enough to lift the cup.

Really sucks we couldn't win it for Joe.  More often than not you just don't get the storybook ending. Just a massive benefit to this franchise on and off the ice.  There was a great ESPN article I read yesterday on Joe that really illustrated that.

Stars went 0-14 on the power play this series. Yikes.

Hit on the standard 20% and it’s a much different series. Would have also been nice to kill at a higher rate.

I’d like to sign Pavs and then do a Vegas-like stash of him in LTIR until the playoffs and see if a fresh Pavs can add more than the worn out version we got this year added.

I was hoping for this too. Maybe he's "retired" until we need him the last month or two of the season and playoffs.

I picked Florida and Carolina for the East Finals and knee-jerked picking the Canes to win the East but I thought they were as even as could get with the Panthers with an advantage in net with Bobrovsky vs Anderson. Florida is salty AF and I think they'll win but I'll be rooting for the Oilers, I think.

We were doing just fine on the PK until the last two games and Edmonton converted four of their last five PPs. Special teams won the series for the Oil.
