The guy has made more than $1M in two years at Texas and he was only a part time starter his freshman year. At no point has he been “cut short”.

Texas thinks it’s got its head around the roster, Muhammad included. He’s being cute with his rap lyric choice but I don’t think this is something to really worry over.

There isn’t an elite corner on the planet that would tell you they’re paid sufficiently. Not worried about it, he’s irreplaceable and no doubt will be taken care of

Unfortunately portal window doesn't wait for the end of the season.  Got to negotiate when you got the leverage.

I can't believe they still haven't fixed the portal window nonsense.  It's absolutely ridiculous that it coincides with the playoffs (and give me a break about spring semester nonsense, figure it out).  It got a lot of publicity last year when Malik felt like he had no choice but to leave before the Sugar Bowl.   Wait until this year when it impacts all 12 or at least 8 teams.  Just wait until someone playing for the title deals with injuries and is impacted by losing key depth pieces they should have on the roster because the powers that be in college athletics are absolute morons.

He is a great player, to be sure, but irreplaceable? There are 17 more just like him either waiting in line or waiting to wait in line to start for Texas.

The people in charge of that have shit for brains. It’s an easy fix that they wont fix until they are forced to fix it.

Trainers and Uncles have to eat too. Time for some schools to pony up and support some players or see them poached by promises by others. The choice is up to the schools. What a sad time this has become. Loyalty to the dollar versus the school.

Dude, did you not watch our defensive backfield in the first few years of Sark? Having talent back there is critical. You can’t fake it with weak CB’s and safeties. He is legit and difficult to replace.

I do my day job because I like it and because I'm paid to do it. It has benefits other than the fungible payments. But I still ask for the payments.

EDIT and I prize loyalty in my employees, but they wouldn't work here forever without fair pay.

Did you just now arrive in America? Our entire culture preaches that. Probably why our population lives hopped up on antidepressants, anxiety, and alcoholism.

but it is the norm. Before this era the top players were being paid. Just behind the scenes.

I have no idea but I imagine our NIL guys know market value of a good corner or player at their position.  I also imagine they up their NIL agreements after the season.  This happens every season where players start expressing their displeasure with their pay through vague tweets.  We saw this with Barron, Worthy, etc.  Texas has proven they know how to retain talent.  There’s also guys like Terrance Brooks that think they are good and are told to go explore the market and they end up at places like Illinois…

I feel like Texas, Oregon, and Ohio State are the best at roster retention and taken acquisition.  It is no surprise those are the top 3 teams in college football.  I imagine this will be the case for years to come.

All three are a great alternative to those weak ass uppers like crack, meth/speed, and God forbid bath salts/Krokodil. Those are for pussies who want to take apart vacuums and use the parts to fix their 1992 Toyota.

The downers like Xanax, Klonopin, diazapam, Ativan + some antidepressants coupled with alcohol is a perfect combination for people who would like to fall asleep for 3 days.

What I love is that of the top program in having functional NIL, 1 we are the only one in our conference and 2 the only one in the South in general.

Say what you want, but location still does matter and access to talent is still key. In many of theses cases the “tie” goes to home and when battling the big dogs of NIL Texas is still considered home (either through locale or through conference affiliation) for a large swath of the elite talent every year.

When do exit interviews occur? after the SEC Championship game but before the playoffs right?

Also, do we know if Sark is still going to let players practice and participate with the team if they're in the portal? I know in the past if you're in the portal you're not considered part of the team any longer, but I feel like an exception was made for playoffs last year?

Meh, not worried about punter.  Kern is a true freshman who just got here in July.  Give him an off-season in the S&C program.  He'll be fine.

Sideshow, on the other hand, can kindly exit stage left.  Thank you for your service, but don't let the door hit you on your way out.

The dude didn't start against GTech and didn't even see the field so I'd guess he's gone for good.

The Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up for a big game on Saturday when they face Texas with an SEC title on the line. While the Bulldogs have their full attention on the Longhorns, it appears one Bulldog will not be part of that preparation.

Georgia cornerback Julian Humphrey announced on social media that he plans to enter the transfer portal. Humphrey would be leaving Georgia after starting 10 games this season but falling out of the lineup in recent weeks.

"First and foremost I would like to thank the man above for everything he has done for me, and I will forever be grateful for everything! I also wanted to say thank you to all of the loyal UGA fans along the way. Thank you" Humphrey wrote on social media. "With that being said, after careful consideration I will be entering my name in the portal with 2 years left of eligibility."

Humphrey began the 2024 season as Georgia's starting cornerback opposite of Daylen Everette, but Humphrey lost the role in Week 12 against Tennessee. An early defensive pass interference call led to Humphrey being pulled in favor of Daniel Harris, and Humphrey backed up the sophomore for the next game. He did not see the field against Georgia Tech in Week 14.

Humphrey recorded 10 tackles and 4 pass break-ups in eleven games.

Humphrey redshirted during his true freshman season in 2022 but played a bigger role as a reserve in 2023. He appeared in nine of the first 10 games for the Bulldogs and really made his mark against Missouri, when he had a pair of tackles and a pass break-up in Georgia's 30-21 victory.

Humphrey seemed to turn the corner against Missouri, but the next week he suffered a significant setback. Humphrey hurt his collarbone against Ole Miss, which was an injury that ultimately forced him to miss the rest of the season.

Humphrey toyed with transferring after the 2023 season with hopes of getting closer to his hometown of Houston. Ultimately, the Georgia coaching staff convinced Humphrey to stay put.

"I talked to Kirby and Muschamp and Coach Donte, and they were saying this is a big year for me. This could be my year to come out and have a good year," Humphrey said in March. "I thought about it, and I wanted to be developed rather than just be down there for one year to say I'm close to my family. I stuck it out here because the development part is one of a kind compared to other schools."

The NCAA transfer portal does not officially open until Dec. 9. Come that date, student-athletes will be able to enter their name up until Dec. 28. A player can withdraw his name and return to his respective school if he so chooses.

If Humphrey leaves Georgia ahead of Saturday's game, it would leave the Bulldogs with five scholarship cornerbacks. Those would be Everette, Harris, Ellis Robinson IV, Demello Jones, and Ondre Evans. The Bulldogs also have other defensive backs who have spent time at corner such as Chris Peal.
