Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - A Panoply of Dipshits, Running Amok

Spence is a really good get.

He was an animal the last 5 or 6 weeks of the season. The Arkansas boards were losing their minds on how this guy wasn't starting to begin the year. Pittman crying about NIL when he should be more worried about his idiotic decisions with playing time/personnel.

He had an all-SEC caliber LB sitting on the bench.

Gerry’s transfer update below. I don’t like Oregon being all over that Purdue TE. The rest of it would be awesome.

Texas Portal Grade so far: A-

The Texas Longhorns are off and truly running in the transfer portal with three players having joined the program for the spring and 2025 season.

Steve Sarkisian and staff have added three impact winning level players from the portal thus far with a number that could grow to as many as ten long term.

Texas is addressing needs in a big way with one of the nations top punters, a heavy handed zero tech to play over the ball and a fast rising playmaking linebacker.

Two-time all-conference punter ...

Make no mistake, there aren't many two-time and back-to-back all-conference selection players in the portal. And Texas got one of them in Utah transfer punter Jack Bouwmeester (ProKick Australia). This addition may not be ranked high in various industry rankings due to being a specialist, but the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder was All-Pac 12 First-team in 2023 and All-Big 12 Second-team in 2024. He's one of college footballs top punters, and a impact winning level transfer. Bouwmeester averaged 45.5 per punt (19 going 50+ yards, and 20 inside the 20) in 2023, and 44.7 (13 50+ yards and 23 inside the 20) in 2024.

Defensive tackle/nose guard Cole Brevard is another undervalued addition to the Longhorns - in the portal rankings world. The Purdue transfer played more than 400 snaps in 2024, and is a strong point of attack run defender. He's not going put up gaudy stats due to the role he plays over the ball, but make no mistake Brevard is an impact winning transfer. Four years in a college strength & conditioning program (at Penn State and Purdue) plus having played more than 525 snaps as a zero/shade vs. Power 4 schools headed into the 2025 season. He has 28 tackles, eight TFL's and 1.5 sacks in 22 starts the last two seasons.

Arkansas transfer linebacker Brad Spence (6-2, 238) is a quickly ascending linebacker in the SEC with two years to play. He has amassed 71 tackles, 7.5 TFL's, 4.5 sacks and an 85-yard INT return for a TD in two seasons (13 starts). Spence is seen as a prospect that is quickly becoming an NFL draftable prospect headed into year three in the SEC. He posted 19 tackles and three sacks in the final three games of the 2024 season, including a sack in each game. He posted seven tackles and a sack vs. Texas. Spence can play off the ball linebacker, and also possesses the versatility to play off the edge.

One visitor with a decision to still make ...

Purdue transfer tight end Max Klare (6-4, 240) is down to Texas, Oregon, Texas A&M and maybe Louisville. All things equal, the Longhorns have a realistic shot. Klare posted 51 receptions for 685 yards and 4 TD's in 2024 for the Boilermakers. He was a Duke commitment out of high school until David Cutcliffe retired, and then flipped to Purdue.

Texas could end up an A+ ...

The Longhorns are in on three of the top players in the portal, with at least two scheduled to be in Austin next week.

UCF defensive lineman Lee Hunter is one of the top defensive tackle's in the portal. Hunter, 6-34 and 320-pounds, has amassed 113 tackles, 20.5 TFL's and four sacks the last two seasons for the Knights in 25 games (23 starts). Hunter signed with Auburn out of Blount High (eight Mile, Ala.) in the class of 2021 as a top 100 overall level prospect nationally.

Speedster and Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton Jr.(Douglasville, Ga./Alexander) is arguably the top wide receiver in the transfer portal. Texas will take their best swing at Singleton early this week (Monday) with Ole Miss, Auburn, Miami and LSU. Singleton, 5-10.5 and 185-pounds, posted 56 receptions for 754 yards and 3 TD's in 2024, along with 11 kick off returns for 241 yards and 21 rushes for 131 yards and a score. He also posted 48 receptions for 714 yards and six TD's in 2023. One of the fastest players in the portal that also competed for the Yellow Jackets track and field program with a best of 10.32 in the 100 meters and 6.68 in the 60 meters.

Arizona cornerback Tacario Davis (Long Beach, Calif./Millikan) is another the Longhorns have interest in. Davis flirted with the portal in 2023 before deciding to stay in Tucson. Davis, 6-4 and 190-pounds, could also opt for the 2025 NFL Draft. If he decides to play another year in college, Texas will be as much in the hunt as they choose to be.

Always a wild card...

If Texas engaged seriously with Alabama transfer running back Justice Haynes, this would open up the possibility for an even more impressive portal class. Ohio State and Michigan have been mentioned with Haynes the most thus far. Haynes' family and Tashard Choice have know each other since Justice was six years old.

Appreciate the spoiler. Just reposting in plain text for the dark mode users.

They're all over. The great majority of jalapenos are purchased by commercial food processors. They wanted consistency in the spice level of jalapenos. TAMU's solution was to take away the spice.

Not sure what Duce Robinson’s plans are, but he’d be a great fit here.  He and Arch became good buds during the recruiting season.  And I’m sure Schloss would give him an opportunity to play baseball if Duce still wanted to play both. I assume Sark would be on board.

But he’s from Arizona and has visited ASU, who is now a player.  Duce’s dad Dominic went to Florida State, so Duce set up a visit there.  We shall see.

I'm not sure - Sark doesn't really use 'big' WRs.  He prioritizes speed over almost everything else and Duce ran a 4.7 at the Opening his Senior.  Wingo is a bigger guy but he's also a freak who ran a 4.39 40 during one of the camps.

You forgot 2023-24: Coach on the field.

Football board is as football board does.

They suffer from selective amnesia.

Taffe sucked in 2022 and he was marginally better last year. He’s done a lot of work to transform his physical traits to match up to his instincts. The whole “it’s amazing how good he looks when the rest of the defense catches up with him” trope is just that.

I like to think I did my part in his and majors development. Some just can’t be helped(Quinn and Conner).
