The Ohio State DT is someone they took for granted as being a player for them next year. He doesn’t have great numbers, but they were deep there. I’ll be happy if Texas lands him.

Some German kid isn’t starting over Justus Terry and Alex January. He’ll be a rotational guy at Texas too. He’d definitely get more snaps here though.

You guys are hyping Justus Terry in ways that aren’t doing him any favors. I don’t get it. He’s not even close to 300 pounds and will be undersized in year one. He’s probably going to be awesome, but expecting true freshman DTs to win the day is not a good recipe for success.

Ed Oliver dominated OU as a freshman at 275lbs. If you got it, you got it.

The word “start” means fuckall to the way Baker/Nansen/PK rotates the DL. You think Bill Norton gave a shit he wasn’t labeled a “starter?” He and Lole played tons, in key situations. We need more players at that position, and you’d assume the Ohio State kid has good athleticism with the soccer background. I don’t know where we stand with the Ohio State coaching hire (could he follow Knowles to PSU or be asked to stay in Columbus?), but you’d think he’d have great insight into whether Kanu can play. And I’m certain he’s much further along as a prospect than Mbatchou is, having played a couple years under Larry Johnson.

Just to be clear, the best example you have is a guy who played as a freshman like eight years ago, had basically the second best game of how career by tackles and sacks in his first college game and is on his second NFL contract.

That's not great odds.

Bobby

Texas hosted Ohio State defensive lineman Hero Kanu for an official visit this weekend.

Kanu is expected to visit Florida later today.

Given the late entry of Kanu to the portal, he has a narrow timeline remaining to make a decision. The last day to enroll in classes for the spring semester at Texas is Wednesday of this week, although there can be some exceptions.

Some have mentioned the possibility of Texas recruiting Notre Dame starting center Pat Coogan out of the portal.

But that does not appear to be happening, at least not at this juncture. Coogan has been talking to Michigan, Illinois and South Carolina among others.
