You guys are hyping Justus Terry in ways that aren’t doing him any favors. I don’t get it. He’s not even close to 300 pounds and will be undersized in year one. He’s probably going to be awesome, but expecting true freshman DTs to win the day is not a good recipe for success.

Expand

Dude is a freak, and he will play. He'll get bigger and stronger just like Collins did. He's a special player.

Unless Kobe wants to be shoved in a locker, I suspect it won't be an issue.

We’ve literally (yes, I know what the word means) seen you go on posting binges 24 hours a day, every day, so your ability to “sleep at night” is not much of a statement.

Hey, I take time off. I do hafw work to do. But when my thoughts start creeping in about our team, I can't help it. Endorphins hit hard and I just can't help myself. We wandered the desert for so long I'm giddy knowing we're now a force to be reckoned with, especially with NIL. It's just so new, and we're one of the top 3 dogs.

Ed grew up on a farm. He probably wrestled bulls for fun. If you are 275 lbs and country strong, you can rip people’s heads off.

What position did he even play? I'm gonna guess goalie... how do you even kick a ball around a guy that size?

A soccer goal is 24 feet wide. It would be easy to get the ball by him.

Torre Becton is going to put 25lbs on Justus easy by September. I cant see that weiner schnitzel committing to Texas when there’s freshman at Texas who will pass him in short order. He just flee’d Ohio State because of that same dynamic.

6'5" is good but obviously 300 is way too fat to be a goalie at any level. But funny your example is Roberto Carlos' potential best free kick in history

Terry was arguably the best interior defensive lineman in one of the most loaded defensive line classes in Georgia state history. I don’t necessarily expect Ed Oliver production, but he will be a significant contributor. No doubt. He will play more snaps than the European midfielder.

If I could find anything around here for 830K I’d buy tomorrow.  Tear downs are more than that. Mission viejo is really nice but too far from the beach

I’m actually kind of high on Terry I fully expect him to come in as 09 suh. Game one.

I think we'd be fine with just one more DT especially if it's a quality one. Burke could probably be usful inside on passing downs and Jackson will probably be a regular player

I was wondering how much an incoming freshman class costs. Roughly speaking, what percentage of the overall budget is spent on freshman?

It’s somewhat interesting because that classification will always have the most bodies and least production. Over time guys will get weeded out and those resources will be allocated to retaining the priorities. Just curious about what chunk of the overall pie is dedicated to freshman.

On Texas Football has learned that Ohio State transfer DT Hero Kanu is on his way to Georgia today for an official visit.

Kanu visited the Longhorns over the weekend, which was followed immediately by an official visit to Florida yesterday.

We are told Kanu is expected to make a decision about his future on Wednesday or Thursday of this week.

Texas A&M was also thought to be involved but it doesn’t appear the Aggies will receive an official visit.

Kanu is 6-foot-5, 305 pounds. He would be the third transfer DT for the Horns this campaign. Of course, Texas must replace its top four rotational players at DT next year as well as two others who left this off-season.

So if we do get this guy it's going to be close if he can enroll and go through spring workouts?

Posted

Seems obvious Kanu entered the portal because there’s a market for him. Based on his time/production at Ohio State someone will have to overpay for him based on potential, but that’s part of the luxury of being a DT in this environment. There’s just not many guys you can stick into a rotation in a major program and know you’ll get some decent production.

Posted

Contributing at DT as a freshman is probably one of the harder positions to do it at considering you need a grown man body and strength.  Terry looks physically ahead of the curve but I imagine will still need more weight.

On a side note, Sark and company have had a very high hit rate on the 5 stars they have brought in.  The only one so far that has not contributed meaningful snaps as a freshman has been Filsame.   Not going to count Johntay as a 5 star but we have hit big on Arch, Baxter, Wingo, Simmons, Banks, Hill, Derek Williams (pre-injury).  Baker, Kobe Black look like they should contribute next year.  Pretty damn good hit rate.

Perhaps Terry is a generational talent. Perhaps he will be better than Oliver. Even if that is true, he will not make the same noise as a freshman. Justus Terry is not going to start his career in the American conference like Ed Oliver. Ed Oliver was a 5 star in a 2 star conference, that kills the comparison for production

I'd still like 2. It's like the saying, "on their deathbed, no one ever wishes they'd spent less time on their boat". No defensive coordinator ever wished they had fewer DTs. At this point, there are 4 guys who weren't in high school a few weeks ago, including 3 who have never played a single down for Texas. Texas has been very fortunate with injuries that last few years. If one or two guys either don't pan out or get injured and things get ugly.

Good list of suitors, that has to mean something about him. Does UGA really even need a portal DT?

At a minimum, they are in a position to make it more expensive for us and get a little payback for Terry.

I agree, 250 lb is probably better for a goalie.

Akeem's transition to American sports turned out okay.

There was a picture posted a few weeks ago of Alfred Collins standing next to Justus Terry.  The difference in size was pretty substantial.  Terry might play some snaps but he's got some growing to do before he really starts making noise on the line.

Glory Holes is a pretty pretty pretty good band name. They could play Village People and Queen covers - with the right venue, Milkmen would be apropos. Fat Bottom Girls for a backup group.

I mean, it writes itself.
