Man that would have sucked harder than just about anything.  Glad it worked out because watching him get double digit sacks next year somewhere else would have been awful.

"This whole exercise isn't projection." Proceeds to point out spots in his original post where he admits to projecting.

The moving of your goalposts was suggesting he had to be a mauler, which literally no one suggested. We can agree that serviceable is fine, but your whole first post of "Needs to learn the playbook and embrace blocking" implies (projects) that he's not done either, and isn't working to become serviceable. Everything stems from that on this point. My notion of flex TE's that embrace blocking isn't based on anything niblack specifically, but in general years of Jumbo WRs or undersized TE's in HS basically have the same mentality as a diva WR, and do nothing. It's not Niblack specific.

But whatever, you want him to return, I'm fine with him returning. I literally said I wouldn't lose sleep if he didn't.

Listen, will you take an adderall and focus for a minute or something. You invoked the term “embracing”. Not me. I used the term “showed a willingness”. I guess those are synonymous for you, but they weren’t for me. So I responded to you using that term. How was this not clear for you in my prior post after I quoted the fucking posts to help you and then further explained it?

On Bobo, apparently Kirby is well aware of what many in the fanbase think of Bobo, and he doesn't give one shit. It's Mack Brown with Greg Davis, fully. They'd have to truly collapse for a change to happen there, per the mods.

You're right. For a second I thought you were a normal person not prone to wild levels of pedantry. But you're right, those two things are pretty syonymous to me.

I feel like the history of Flex TE's being asked to learn to block and embracing that is a low percentage.

Just wait until MJ McFarland improves his blocking. He's going to be a monster. Zach Ertz 2.0.

Any day now...

On the topic of Niblack being a loss- what’s the status of Washington? Is he in line to replace Helm or does he need another year?

Allegedly, they really like Washington. Unless they’re going to land a wizard in the spring portal, our best hope is what I referenced previously - Niblack is ready, and Washington and Shannon come on strong as a duo. If Townsend and/or Terry also force their way out there, that would be awesome.

As of right now, my view is that the TE room is the most unproven group on the roster.

1) Yeah, they look like different levels of the same concept to me.

2) Moving the goalposts from trying to put the term you conjured on me to now claiming that you meant willingness the whole time.

Where do you think you are? You’re not in some mouthbreathing gotcha contest in the Cloak Room.

Cook at least had some flashes in games.  Hudson did nothing on a shitty Tech team.

I’ve heard Bobby and Gerry both say that they believe Washington is a 3 year and NFL bound type player. Unless someone was way off in their evaluation it seems like he would be the projected starter in 2025. But yes if Niblack left that could be considered one of the most talented and unproven positions on the team.

Washington is going to be awesome. Lots of handwringing about the TE position for nothing.

Yeah, they're mostly drunk idiots.

AP preseason #4 - finished in the final 4
Picked to finish 2nd in the SEC - best regular season record, but SEC CCG runner-up

So exactly what we were predicted to do.

Hence, we sucked ass this year.

No one is handwringing. A discussion can be had about a position, its players and their outlooks. We can all project whatever we want about how it plays out, but discussing its current state honestly has nothing to do with handwringing.

Banner day for you and Sydney on this thread.

I feel great about where we are from a TE perspective. We've gotta figure out the burnt ends dinner. Does someone in Austin have any access to the austonian? I would like to use their event space for it, but it only makes sense if we get the resident sponsored rate.

If not we can do it at San Jac Saloon again.

Sorry, I wasn’t actually talking about yall back and forth, more the people who are saying we have to get a TE in the portal.
I’ve maintained since the moment I saw Washington’s highlights and then heard him on with Bobby and Gerry that he was gonna be awesome. Smart, good make up, tons of athleticism, maximizer and no bullshit. That’s a combo that kills it. And Townson is causing Gerry orgasms behind that. I’d like to see us get out of the 12 package business altogether so, it’s trending just fine for me.

I like how you’ve managed to conjure this entire weird disagreement you’re having with yourself over shades of the concept of “willingness” enough to post multiple Long AF posts about it. As if my second post, which you quoted, I didn’t say “some version of embrace blocking” as if I wasn’t loosely paraphrasing you the entire fucking time. And then you attempted to put the word Mauler in my mouth. This whole thing is so weird and bizarre, and exists entirely in your head.

“Different levels of the same concept, I’d better write 3k words about how you are illiterate and hate TEs, nevermind Sydney has said multiple times he’s fine if Niblack stays he just won’t mourn his loss.”

I’m enjoying this. Keep going.

If any position is worth handwringing over it’s WR and kicker.
There’s some other “nice to have” stuff like DT or maybe a TE or maybe a RB but I think we are fine there. We absolutely need another stud WR with 1 year of eligibility before the room takes care of itself and a championship caliber team needs a trustworthy kicker. That shit will get you beat as both us and OSU experienced this year.

That offensive line would have four players with three plus years in the program. Baker needs to be good for this line to not have a drop off. That one WR position could probably use a veteran upgrade if one became available.

Was there truly any doubt Simmons was coming back?

Stuff like that sounds so 9.95ish at times..

Players like him should actively tell Texas staff what teams are trying to tamper..  or leak the cheating teams thru back channels.

Perhaps I'm hitting the Kool Aid a little early, but I see upgrades almost across the board.

Banks was a stalwart, but I have to say I was impressed with Goosby when Banks missed time.  The only real question marks for me are who will replace Golden, will Baker be ready for his close-up, and can Washington block as well as Helm.

I hope you are right and I’m wrong. The WR room is ok if Wingo becomes a certified badass. The frosh wont be that- best you can probably hope for from them is wingo like production this year which is fine, but aggregates to about a #3 or #4 on a good team. Want one more badass in case Wingo isn’t an all sec type.

Not a ton of doubt, but it’s costing 7 figures, so that’s loosening the Jenga tower that is roster building.

He's a badass pass rushing true freshman defensive end. Other than QB there aren't any more valuable player categories, especially in college.
