He visited here when he was a recruit, right? I vaguely remember him coming here with a group as he was touring early in the recruiting season.

The Ohio State DT is someone they took for granted as being a player for them next year. He doesn’t have great numbers, but they were deep there. I’ll be happy if Texas lands him.

Some German kid isn’t starting over Justus Terry and Alex January. He’ll be a rotational guy at Texas too. He’d definitely get more snaps here though.

He’s probably going to be awesome, but expecting true freshman DTs to win the day is not a good recipe for success.

You guys are hyping Justus Terry in ways that aren’t doing him any favors. I don’t get it. He’s not even close to 300 pounds and will be undersized in year one. He’s probably going to be awesome, but expecting true freshman DTs to win the day is not a good recipe for success.

Ed Oliver dominated OU as a freshman at 275lbs. If you got it, you got it.

Just to be clear, the best example you have is a guy who played as a freshman like eight years ago, had basically the second best game of how career by tackles and sacks in his first college game and is on his second NFL contract.

That's not great odds.

Texas hosted Ohio State defensive lineman Hero Kanu for an official visit this weekend.

Kanu is expected to visit Florida later today.

Given the late entry of Kanu to the portal, he has a narrow timeline remaining to make a decision. The last day to enroll in classes for the spring semester at Texas is Wednesday of this week, although there can be some exceptions.

**

Some have mentioned the possibility of Texas recruiting Notre Dame starting center Pat Coogan out of the portal.

But that does not appear to be happening, at least not at this juncture. Coogan has been talking to Michigan, Illinois and South Carolina among others.

With a busy week ahead, I asked Kanu why he could see himself hypothetically picking Texas in the end.

"I mean, shit, I can play football," he said. "That's it. That's why I can see myself there. It's the same thing everywhere. I'm trying to play. I'm trying to make an impact."

I MEAN, SHIT, FULL ARTICLE BELOW.  THAT'S IT.

Ohio State DL transfer Hero Kanu visits Texas, talks Longhorns chances

Hank South (Horns 247)

Ohio State defensive line transfer Hero Kanu took a one-day official visit to Texas on Sunday as the Longhorns look to continue to bolster what will be a mostly new-look defensive line in 2025.

"Man, I'm in the portal. They hit me up. And I came out there the next day," Kanu told Horns247 as he was heading out of Austin. "I flew in last night. I'm flying to Florida right now."

With such an abbreviated visit, Kanu didn't get the traditional official visit experience, but got what he needed to get out of the trip.

"Man, it was cool. It was only a limited time so it was only like a conversation," he said. "I had a good conversation with Coach Sark. Just having a conversation about the future."

Kanu totaled 14 tackles and one sack the last two seasons in Columbus. As a recruit in the class of 2022, the 6-foot-5, 305-pounder ranked as the No. 17 defensive lineman and the No. 118 overall player in the country, per 247Sports, coming out of Santa Margarita Catholic in California.

Kenny Baker left a strong impression with Kanu as well.

"He's a cool coach," Kanu said.

The Gators are up next.

"I'm going to Florida tomorrow and everything else is being set up, still in the air in terms of like dates," he said. "I don't want to give away too much."

Where do the Longhorns stand as Kanu works to figure out his next stop?

"They stand with good chances," he said. "They're a good team. All the teams I'm visiting are good."

With a busy week ahead, I asked Kanu why he could see himself hypothetically picking Texas in the end.

"I mean, shit, I can play football," he said. "That's it. That's why I can see myself there. It's the same thing everywhere. I'm trying to play. I'm trying to make an impact."

Kanu is originally from Germany where he played club soccer. He didn't start playing football until the spring of 2021.

Seems like this guy has potential, but gives off a very mercenary type vibe.  If he doesn't get as much playing time as he expects, I could see him portaling after a year.

Who knows, maybe he's worth a shot.

Given our depth chart, if he doesn't flat out suck he'd be getting plenty of playing time, much like Lole or Norton.

He might be a mercenary, but saying he wants to transfer for playing time after sitting and developing for two years is pretty reasonable. I don’t see how that gives off mercenary vibes at all.

I think Terry will be used in pass rush scenarios and situationally at least early on. He may come on late but trusting a true freshmen DT that might be 300 lbs by fall camp is a fools errand.

A 6'5", 305-pound, standout SOCCER player?

What position did he even play? I'm gonna guess goalie... how do you even kick a ball around a guy that size?

The guy in the gif isn't David Beckham. And I was referring to the ability of soccer places to curve their shots.

He lives in San Diego, so I hope you're down with fish.

Naw, pulled pork bbq tacos.

2 flour tortillas, toasted

1/2 lb pulled pork

3 napa cabbage leaves, thin sliced/shredded

6 kosher pickle slices chopped finely

4 Tbsp or so chopped red onions

2 Tbsp ranch

4 Tbsp bbq sauce

serve with 2-3 small David Beckhams

Last DL I remember that was also interested in/played soccer is Suh from Nebraska and he was pretty good.
