This guy is a stud and would be very happy to have him, but not a position of need at all? Wonder if there's some concern that Vasek will just never be healthy.

Right and I think he's good enough that he'd very much improve a position group that's already stellar. Kind of reminds me of going after Silas Bolden when we already had Bond/Golden/Cook/Moore/Wingo.

They want really good players and you can never have too much good edge depth especially with Moore playing for linebacker.

We gonna run out the 7 EDGE package like we ran out the all 7 DB package a few years ago???

One might wonder why the Longhorns are recruiting Stanford edge David Bailey from the transfer portal given edge is a position of strength for the Horns.

Well, the answer isn’t that complicated. Texas clearly sees Bailey as an immediate player for this team.

Bailey had seven sacks a year ago for the Cardinal and is thought to have high-end NFL upside. As a high school senior at Mater Dei in California, Bailey was the no. 34 overall ranked player in the country and is considered the best overall pro prospect on the Stanford squad.

Getting after the quarterback will always carry a premium value. You can never have enough.

So the Horns are looking to make a position that is considered a team strength even stronger.

Have a friend in their AD so have some additional info amidst the current dumpster fire. Excellent kid and would be a culture fit here, similar impact to Trey Moore with better NFL measurables. High value on academics, but we all know how that goes when NIL gets big enough. UCLA is the favorite unless Texas blows them away or someone comes in with a godfather offer.

We're going to need to offer more than a box of cannoli.

I'll be shocked if we're willing to pay what it will take to get him. I don't know how much we have tied up in DE, but all it takes is a TTU or similar to just blow their wad on a single dude they get hard for.

I doubt that a kid that went to Stanford as a top 40 recruit in the country is going to go to Tech. Michigan, UCLA maybe Florida but dirt Aggy isn’t pulling this type of kid.

I know he visited there but just don’t see it.

UCLA 247 mod says that his ask is about 4x what they're able to come up with. Bodes well for us, as we might be the happy medium with UCLA being poor and Texas Tech being exclusively for illiterates with severe learning disabilities.

One of the top softball pitchers went from Stanford to TT this year. You can no longer say that it's not possible or doubtful when TT is willing to pay a shit load of money.

I think the kid wants to win and be on a defense that's legit.

Texas Tech softball is at least ranked in the top 25.

Completely different financial environment though. As potentially the top softball player in the country, you're going to make more money in college than in the pros. Not surprised she took the biggest offer on the table to maximize income while in college, since professional income is likely to be limited.

As a NFL-hopeful football player, your highest levels of income depend on you making it to the NFL. It would be prudent to balance current college income with the ability to prepare for the NFL. Not sure off the top of my head what the developmental track record is for Texas Tech's correct coaching staff, but I imagine it's, well, not great Bob.
