It is bizarre. The only non-bizarre part of it is that many of us knew this was happening. Sitting here with only 5 guys, all 1 or 2 year guys, heading into the 2025 season is weird and I'm at the point in which I see plenty of blame lying with Davis and how he recruited the DT room.

The word has been 3-4 DTs in the portal, and I've been saying it here. I'm now curious to see who these players are and if they were lined up at all, or if it's just been assumed that the right guys would be there.

Alex Okafor can play defensive tackle.

Well, they were all culture flameouts (Ross) or just bad at football (Bledsoe, Tapp, Bryant), and Mitchell has been a transfer risk from the second he got on campus. Hell of a job building the room by Davis.

1. Tapp is a DE

2. He was actually decent.

It's almost worse he couldn't keep one dude of the entire group. Ross, Bledsoe, Tapp were know entities.

Bryant sounds like he may have been asked to go?

But he couldn't keep one guy who was known to be a flight risk in Mitchell?

Well, there are already plenty of DT in the portal but not posts that I’ve seen of any confirmed visits to Texas from any of them.  I don’t know if that points more to we know who we want/targeted/recruited/tampered and it’s not them, or if there is no plan and we may or may not be fucked.

The portal just opened and it doesn't matter how many are in the portal but how many would actually be capable of seeing the field here

Interesting to see the different portal approaches playing out already. ATM is lining up visits left and right, especially at WR (Hudson, Concepcion, Nic Anderson, Mario Craver), while Texas isn't doing squat so far.

Dear god the bitchassness is off the charts today

I guess it would have been cooler if he stayed but was anyone really confident in counting on Mitchell for meaningful snaps next season?

I would have recruited the portal like he didn’t exist and if he decided to be serious about football and get his shit together it would have been a bonus.

Was Mitchell encouraged to bolt? Seems weird that he would stick it out, until now.

One team is playing in the Las Vegas bowl and has holes at basically every position on their two deep. They have to make offers and visits rain to get dudes ASAP so they can move on to second and this options because their depth chart overall looks like the current DT room at Texas.

The other team is hosting a CFP game and has many fewer holes and can be much much more selective.

CFP DT Roster - Assuming they don't let the ones who entered the portal continue to practice.

I assume we will definitely shoot for 4 DT's from the portal. Wonder if we'll try to get 3 experienced ready to play guys then take a flyer on a younger developmental portal piece to build more depth moving foward?

Yeah what is the CFP practice policy? We go 3 deep throught the game to keep bodies fresh does Hill have 4 games left in his redshirt? bitchassedness is growing for sure.

Post season does not count toward 4 game redshirt limit.

No no, Sark should def take time away from preparing for Clemson and focusing on getting the offense right.  I'm sure this board will be 100% okay with that and wouldn't have the pitchforks out.

Redshirting isn’t a thing anymore, if he’s good enough to play, Hills can play in the playoffs with no games counting against his four game regular season minimum. Did January redshirt? If so, same for him and every other freshman or player preserving a redshirt season.

To be fair we haven't practiced all week, we return to practice manana.

January has burned his redshirt already.

Just because the players haven't practiced doesn't mean Sark and staff have just been sitting around twiddling their thumbs and not watching film and prepping to hit the ground running tomorrow.

What a dumb choice, everyone knows needlepoint is better than cross stitch. Gah.

If you are new to embroidery, the structure of cross-stitch may be the most appealing. You will only need to master one simple stitch to complete a project. Once you finish your first project, you will be a little more prepared for needlepoint because the cross stitch shows up in some needlepoint projects.

If you wish to create a complex and more realistic image, needlepoint will be the best option. Needlepoint will also be the best solution if you want to create the look of different textures in one project or incorporate beads into a piece.

Next time post as plain text so dark mode doesn't give away your copy pasta

Was Norton a big name in the portal last year? Because he’s been great this year. We need two more guys like him.

He was along Jay Toia and Damonic Williams were top targets, Lole was a surprise.

And Chipotle is a top tier fast-casual national chain.  So what?

An undergrad degree from Moodys by itself lands the holder a coveted job as... assistant digital content producer on the KXAN website?

If he's a 3rd-stringer studying business with an offer to play for the UPenn Quakers or Alabama Tide... yeah, ride the the pine at Penn.  Easy.

If he's a starter with no prospect of an NFL career, he's going to be offered non football opportunities by connected alums who liked the fact of him being a QB, that's as good at Florida as it is at Duke.  For a guy like Maalik, his football fame generates more value than the relative brand power of a Duke degree.

I was a Comms major at UT. Sample size of one, but I don’t work at a Chipotle or as an intern at KXAN. You can do well for yourself.

Why would you want to keep them if they suck? Some of y’all just want bodies for the sake of having bodies, none of these guys played.

The screw up with DTs happened when these guys were recruited, not when they were let go/bailed.

He wasn't nearly as hotly contested as those guys. He hit the portal as useful depth and contributed as useful depth.

Just a reminder that Nahlin was recently pumping Mitchell Kool-Aid for clicks at the same moment Mitchell was in the dog house and sucking. Let’s all take a moment to reflect on how shitty of a person and professional Nahlin is.

Comically bad at his role ("insider") and bad at his job (owner)

And has been for over a decade.

Reading the visit lists from the On3 guy, it seems that most of the programs currently in the playoff aren't lining up a ton of visits compared to those that aren't

If any of these guys get have any significant impact with a contending team or are drafted, quote this post.  It sucks that our recruiting was this off and our depth is gone. But I imagine they’d get more run over guys like Norton and Lole if they were any good and that we’ll clean up in the portal.

Cal QB, Fernando Mendoza, in the portal.  Be shocking if he ends up anywhere but Miami

Past two years they had multiple QBs with NIL.  He did not and won the job both years.  Still didn’t get paid.

Mitchell can barely get out of his stance. Zero explosiveness. He's a space eating DT, which is fine as a depth guy but not a long term solution

The 450 lbs guy from Florida is a much more explosive guy than Mitchell

Do your thing Nansen. Although guessing he might go pro.

Dalton Johnson, AZ starting safety from Katy, also in the portal. Honorable mention all Big 12
