Pretty interesting how moves like that can alter the college football season and a coach's future.  If Ohio State gets Ward, maybe they win the Big 10, get the CFP #1 seed, and Ryan Day is not on the hot seat.

Or they get Ward and their defense implodes for the same result is most likely.

Everything Day touches becomes slightly worse than if he'd just left it alone.

Ward is a less developed Jameis Winston. In any given game, he'll make five big time throws, but he'll also throw five interceptable balls, and that would have likely caught up to them in the playoffs

Pretty sure Miami did this to Ohio State last year, when Ohio State thought they were getting Cam Ward but then Miami swooped up and raised the price of poker, and Ohio State was already cash strapped due to talking the six or so NFL players into returning and landing other expensive portal players

If OU does have to pay up to land Mateer, that would seemingly hurt their other NIL endeavors

saw a Miami fan suggest that Mateer is still OU bound and Miami is just doing this to drive up the number.

Well Nevin Shapiro has been pardoned for less than a week

OU should have kept Gabriel or developed Arnold. Would have been cheaper and easier.

I know the narrative is that OU ran Gabriel off in favor of Arnold, but are we sure Gabriel didn't look at the coaching staff and come to the same conclusion.

My point is more… how is OU in this position going into year 4?

They didn’t want to lose Arnold and let him walk.

I'm sure, hard pass.  No ass, no tits, no calves.  I once went out with a tomboy hotter than that.

...not to mention

I would actually like this pickup for A&M. We will see if they can get him the ball. Averaged over 21 years a reception as a freshman.

He will be old as fuck by the time he catches his fourth ball.

Trying to read tea leaves on the Singleton wooing without any inside knowledge, but his hometown of Douglasville appears to be just 25 miles from Atlanta, where he’s also played his college football the last two years, so he’s familiar with a big city environment. He would be coached at Texas by a former NFL receivers coach, a school which has produced recent NFL draft picks at the position (and should again with Bond). I’m assuming NIL would be attractive. Like Georgia Tech, Texas offers a quality education if that’s important. Texas plays in the best conference. And he would be catching passes from Arch Manning.

It would seem a good match.

Haven't seen this posted but on Sunday Gerry said Golden is expected to go to the NFL.

For some reason I thought I read he was likely staying so that's unfortunate

Never the case.  Bolden maybe.

Ketch was reporting singleton was commanding like 1.25m. It’s likely this is a bullshit made up number but even spit balling that high is something only a few teams can achieve, and fewer more would be comfortable either with spending.

Without any inside knowledge, yes that’s a lot of money. But a lot of WR money will be coming off the books as well, particularly if Golden leaves.

also, ketch doesn’t fucking know shit as a general rule.

What are tOSU, Miami, Bama, and ND doing at QB next year?  Surprised they aren't being tied to QBs yet (other than Miami maybe with Mateer)

Ohio State- Julian Sayin

Bama- Austin Mack who came with DeBoer from Washington or Ty Simpson. Assuming Milroe doesn’t come back.

Miami has to be transfer I would think. Same with ND.

USC is another one I would assume is in the market. Is Riley going to feel comfortable rolling with Maiaiva in what might be a hot seat year? Will Michigan want a one year stopgap guy before Underwood takes over?

Yeah it was more a “ok that dumb fuck won’t know details, but it’s clear they’re looking for a high number.” Although knowing ketch that part could be made up too.

I certainly remember the name. I can’t remember, did we back off or just lose the recruitment?

I remember you chewing me out for pointing out we were finalists for House after I think he opened up his commitment for a little post Deboer leaving so I believe we backed off
