NFL will tell blue he has 2 elite skills- speed and fumbling.  And they don’t hire fumblers.

And we've seen a lot of one and not much of the other.

Why Blue? he's been pretty much on the straight and narrow this year?

Wisner has earned Blue's touches. Blue started the season talking about being the answer at RB this year. Instead, he just caused more questions.

Is this kid even good enough to be stipulating his bench warmer brother needs to be “taken care of”?

OK then. That’s a red Lambo for you, and a beat up Pinto for little brother.

Some of this NIL stuff makes me gag.

I was thinking that given the salty freshman class coming in, the WR need wasn't super high, but have realized after going through the names that there are too many moving parts right now to count on the existing roster to address all the gaps:

Freshmen: Lockett, French, McCutcheon, Terry;  I would have thought 1-3 of these could get significant minutes. Is the offense really that difficult to master? Playing early in the NIL era is going to happen quite a bit I would think.

Sophomores: Dubose (possibly portal), Livingstone (a superstar just patiently waiting for his chance :) ), Butler (meh?), Niblett (pot transfer but they want), Wingo (starter); 1-3 from here.

Juniors: Moore - 1 from here.

Seniors: Bond (gone?), Golden (gone?), Bolden (gone); 0-1 from here.

So they've got somewhere between 3-8 in the mix for next year.

Keys: Golden or Bond staying, Niblett staying, 1-2 freshmen balling out, Livingstone surpassing the lack of hype.

They need to add at least 1 reliable starter, either from the portal or Golden coming back.  One of the freshman wr will probably earn good minutes, but you don't want to count on one of them starting outside one of them coming in just being a complete stud right away.

Kind of boring portal for us since we got those 3 guys....no info out there either really.

They've been a little busy preparing for a playoff game tomorrow. Will hear more probably beginning of next week

I’m kind of baffled why many folks here just write off Butler. We really know very little about the guy, but that’s not exactly uncommon across the CFB world. Maybe he leaves, but that would be a surprise.

If they wanted Dubose out, he would have announced his transfer last week. Maybe he leaves of his own volition, but they didn’t push him out and must see something they still like.

Niblett is the contributor likely to exit. He’s pondered it publicly.

Everyone talking about Blue being a question mark also has me flummoxed. The guy announced to everyone he was leaving before the season started, and sees himself in the NFL. I’ll be surprised if he stays and I’ll be shocked if he transfers. Is the assumption that this guy is going to appy logic to his process?

Feels similar to DeAndre Moore last year.

I don't write him off but I think a lot of people don't think much of him for the exact reason you highlight. If they haven't heard much about him it must mean he hasn't impressed people much, or otherwise we would have heard more about him. As someone else said, that whole thought process is wrong. Moore is a similar example of a guy who didn't get a lot of press who has shown big flashes, as compared to Wingo who you could tell was a star in the making as soon as he was on the field.

It seems like there are 4-6 players every year on the depth chart at various positions who you don't hear much about and then all of the sudden when inserted into the starting lineup you immediately see their talent.

With who we have signed in the portal(meaning not that much $$$ spent), I’m surprised we aren’t winning out on singleton or at least one big splash. I know there’s still time but you’d think some momentum would be needed.

I read it as they are putting a dollar amount on each player and that’s based on an analysis incorporating demand, supply, and current roster.  In other words, making a bigger splash is most likely constrained by a) who might be poised to come on the market as the playoffs proceed and b) if you’re exceeding what you’re paying for guys like Wingo and maybe retaining Golden, then do you also have to make a bigger commitment there.

I'd be disappointed to see Niblett leave. I'd understand, but be disappointed.

Losing guys like Niblett is the toughest part of the transfer portal to me and is probably what is going to pushing cfb towards increased parity. It’s just hard to build truly elite teams when you are losing good depth who are given a chance to develop.

Not really in playing style, but his development path is sort of like guys like Chris Ogbonnaya. Good culture fit, special teams and role player first few years but works his way on the field a little more every season. In this era, he probably transfers to Miss State after his sophomore year.

I understand why it probably makes sense for Niblett to pursue more immediate opportunities in the portal, but it sucks.

You wrote off Livingstone because he's white

Butler got off on the wrong foot and was in the dog house for much of the year.

That’s racist, IMO.

Is he out of the doghouse? If not, then he certainly makes sense as someone who could be gone.

Branch's numbers aren't all that impressive.  I know numbers aren't everything.  But ten yards a catch over his career?  3 touchdowns and 78 receptions in two seasons?  What am I missing?

The fact that Lincoln Riley and USC suck shit through a straw?

Seriously, Branch had 31 receptions in his first year, 47 this year.  31 receptions is more than Ryan Wingo has in his first year. He doesn't suck.  47 receptions is exactly as many receptions as our #1 receiver, Matthew Golden, has, and he doesn't suck.

Point simply being that there are reasons a receiver might not have gaudy stats, reasons that don't have anything to do with how good he is.

More focused on the pedestrian yards per catch and lack of touchdowns than his number of catches.  Wingo and Golden are around 16 yards per catch.

In the new era Ogbonnaya transfers to Texas for his senior year
