- The portal window officially closed on Saturday for all players who did not or do not have a bowl game. From now on, the only players who can enter the portal must be bowl participants and their entrance must come no later than five days after the game is over. For example, Clemson’s Peter Woods, a defensive lineman, opted to return to Clemson by announcing that decision yesterday.

DT portal recruiting does not seem like it’s going well. Especially with needing 2-3 more for spring.

ISU guy all that's left (for now)??

There is also the guy from Wash St. and the other DT from Purdue that should be targets. But, Bobby didn't mention those in his article this morning.

I don't understand the distinction. How are there two groups of players who played in no bowl games?

Re the portal timing- Aside from the deadline for players to get in the motherfucker, what's the deadline to make a decision on the ultimate destination?  Is it basically dependent on enrollment deadlines at each school?

Yes

Could Broughton apply for a covid year?  I imagine a NIL deal for him may be worth coming back and bettering his draft stock.  Dude has played very well and if he can show another year on tape, he could get drafted much higher.

I'm not sure how that works since he redshirted in 2020.

I think he could, technically.

2020 didn’t count for anyone but doesn’t that show that he used his 4 in 5 up 21-24?  If he had redshirted on of the last 4 years then he’d have one left. But how would he, as is?

I'm not sure....the rules are confusing

Based on my reading of this, I lean towards no.  However, NCAA rulings are never consistent…

Pavia played in JuCo which apparently no longer counts.  Rising and Thompson missed time with injuries.

Whereas Broughton missed time because he was boo-boo. 💩

Do QBs just have unlimited eligibility? Seems weird that Broughton could be done while Cam Rising, Pavia, and Casey Thompson are still playing.

I remember when Mack brown started recruiting rising to Texas in 2010

If Cam Rising doesn't have a PhD by the time he'd done playing it will have been a wasted opportunity.

7 teams still with players possibly entering , so we will see.  Can only hope.

*Tacario Davis, I believe, too.

Also regarding Peter Woods, he still could enter his name in the spring, so I'm holding on to a little hope that he sees the light.

Think Spring portal period is gonna be louder than last year given more playoff teams locked for longer. Obviously can't take SEC transfers then but there's a handful of teams that have very clear QB needs that haven't addressed them which makes me assume they'll try to get their guy in a few months once they know exactly what they have.

The 5 day extension applies to teams in normal bowl games as well, so it’s a lot more than 7 teams.

Broughton injured his hand when he spiked the volleyball into Jimbo's melon at Pool Party.

The 4th season since covid is wrapping up now.  There should be no more covid year guys left.  Anyone playing a 5th+ yaer in 2025 and beyond would be due to normal redshirting or injury waivers.
