Well yeah, I'm just ordinary straight with an occasional funny feeling every time I see Chris Hemsworth, not Super Duper Mega Straight with the cock-handling skills of a high end hooker.

So to re-hash our portal targets are

Max Klare, TE Purdue, 3rd team all Big 10

Cole Brevard, DT Purdue

Tacario Davis, DB Arizona

Davis hasn't actually set up a visit yet.

Brandon Tucker, LB from ETAMU, has one set up, though.

Has this dude even logged PT anywhere?  It's one thing to be 5 star bust like Arnold/Weigman where you at least look competent enough in practice to get on the field and suck, but this dude can't even convince a coach to let him on the field.

Riley should have known he was a bust before he took him as his only quarterback in that class.

Riley recruited him for years and avoided even talking any other qb in the class like the plague. Gigantic swing and a miss by dry brisket boy.

He was so heavily invested in Nelson that it was hard to look at him objectively. That was a four year recruitment. It fooled ESPN to make him the number one recruit in the 2023 class. I’m not sure any recruiting service has missed so badly on a recruit than ESPN on Nelson.

I think he got a little PT in mop up duty at Boise this year. They apparently told him his NIL would not be renewed.

This feels like revisionist history.

I don't remember any of those guys being flagged as "big risks" whatsoever when they came out. Some folks weren't as high on Ross becuase of concerns, but "big risk" seems like a stretch. Everyone assumed a kid on a college S&C and nutrition program would be able to gain 20-25 pounds on a college nutrition and S&C program. Instead the fucking guy came in and lost 10. I feel like that's a pretty rare occurrence.

Mitchell was coveted by everyone at the time, including GA, and he was a big win. Yes, he was a big body, but everyone was high on that guy, and he still has great qualities. His problem is his head. I don't remember ANY large segment of guys saying he was a Finch from wildcats style fatbody who would never amount to anything. This shit is what's happening in retrospect.

I don't really remember any of Bryant's recruitment either way.

Odd that no one is mentioning Jaray Beldooe here, who basically enrolled academically by the skin of his teeth, and succesfully doing that was a shock to many. People threw around terms like "learning disability" at the time, yet we never hear that mentioned as part of his bust factor.

Big risk was the wrong word. I would more accurately just say “risk”. Davis had struck out on his top few targets and these guys were the next level down, and it was discussed on the board that some of these guys were undersized or were motivation risks (like Mitchell). A few on the board were “over the moon” about the takes, and tried to shut down any discussion of limitations of those takes. My only point is that a lot of the posters, myself included, knew there were some risks with that whole group, so the current situation is not a surprise to me at all.

This is a kid whose career was screwed up by a poor choice and an overly involved dad. Kid should have had shoulder surgery when he was injured as Jr in HS but didn't want to miss his Sr year and dad agreed to stick with plan.  He waits until after his senior season and arrived at USC still recovering... they pushed him too quickly to return and he has never recovered.

It’s a real joy to think of a perfect gif and scroll seconds down to see you don’t even have to go to the trouble of finding it. Hat tip sir.

A hat tip isn’t the type of tip Helo is thinking about

At first,I was, “Damn, this guy has used up his eligibility, otherwise he could come in and help Helo.” But then I realized he can come in immediately as  a GA and get to work on the transfers as Helobius’ intern.

Portal: Some early names to know

It's here! Texas is hosting a pair of visitors out of the portal today. Purdue transfer Max Klare (TE) and Cole Brevard (DL) are on campus in Austin.

Along with players beginning to visit Texas, there is also a few names we are monitoring to see if they enter the portal. One of those is USC WR Zachariah Branch (5-10, 175).

OnTexasFootball continues to update and provide some names of note, potentially, that are already in the portal.

Tight end
Max Klare, 6-4, 240, Purdue (sophomore)
2024 stats: 51 receptions, 685 yards and 4 TD's. Third team All-Big 10

Defensive line
Cole Brevard, 6-3, 335, Purdue (senior)
2024 stats: Over 400 snaps, 19 tackles, 1.5 sacks

Kelby Collins, 6-4, 275, Florida (sophomore)
Florida stats: 29 tackles, 1.5 sacks

Note: There are at least three more names we expect to add to this list.

Defensive back
Tacario Davis, CB, 6-4, 190, Arizona (junior)
2024 stats: 43 tackles, 6 PBU's

Dillon Thieneman, S, 6-0, 205, Purdue (sophomore)
2024 stats: 104 tackles, 6 PBU's, 1 sack

Dalton Johnson, S, 5-11, 202, Arizona (junior)
2024 stats: 104 tackles, 6 PBU's, 1 sack
Note: Contrary to reports that Texas is the favorite, he just receiving a look from the Horns at this point.

Punter
Keelan Crimmins, 6-3, 225, Purdue (junior)
2024 stats: 44.9 average (41.8 net) on 64 punts, including 17 inside the 20

Jack Bouwmeester, 6-3, 200, Utah (junior)
2024 stats: 44.9 average (41.8 net) on 64 punts, including 17 inside the 20

I’m seeing a lot of worrying about the numbers here. Get a hold of yourselves. The only person around here needing to worry about numbers right now is Helobious.

We need to support Helobius in these trying times...

Have any kickers of note been mentioned as possibly visiting Texas?

I know people on here are keen to land a punter, but I feel like a reliable kicker is much more important.

We didn't lose any games because of Kern, but you could argue that Bert cost us the SEC championship.

We all know we need one. The only one mentioned so far is that the SMU kicker might bounce after the Playoffs.

Yeah, it's been heavily implied the SMU kicker will be lured into the portal by Texas
