Apparently we missed this thing where a good player from our SECCG opponent has entered the portal and is interested in coming here.

I played against his father. Watching that dude run down our sideline was like watching fucking thoroughbred gallop towards the end zone.

That’s all I’ve got.

Reading their boards and Smart’s comments, there’s something else going there. They might have been quietly disciplining him for something or benching him due to attitude.

Yeah, 2nd time in the portal also.  Seems more likely to cause problems than be a really good player.

Gerry made a comment this morning on YouTube that as of 2-3 weeks ago he was expecting Nic Anderson to potentially test the portal waters. Should probably have clarity soon now that the OC hire is finalized.

If he’s healthy, he’s a very good option based on his RS Freshman season in 2023.

I just wonder if that’s enough proven production for Sark to pursue, especially given his season-long quad injury this year.

Doesn't LSU owe Brian Kelly an ungodly amount of money?

The Fisher Maneuver was pulled with the Kelly contract, I believe. Like so many other schools, they're fucked for the time being if the coach doesn't work out. LSU can't compete in basic NIL efforts, much less the more radical ones. They're not going to find $61M under the couch and I don't think they have enough money to siphon off from children's hospitals or state-run construction projects to afford that level of grift.

One of many late stage Saban takes that didn't hit as well as the DLs they'd been taking.

This guy allegedly went to multiple non OU affiliated docs to get second and third opinions on his injury, looking for a reason not to play. I’ll be shocked if he’s not gone.

In reading a long thread on the big USC 247 board, they have a couple of alleged insiders who are saying that they're about to have a mass exodus, much like what they're saying over on the LSU boards. Is this the year in which this type thing actually happens? We hear rumors but never fully see anything come to fruition, unless I'm forgetting one or you want to count ATM's last year. Could be fun.

Honestly, taking guys from LSU and USC sounded great when we were 5-7 and 8-4.  Now I'm wondering if their starters from their terrible defenses are better than our backups.

Yeah the only player I can think of off the top of my head that I’d like from USC is Branch.

I've spoilered the Dawgs 247 article on Humphrey, with telling comments from Smart. There's been attitude problems and he tried to leave last year. You have to really believe you can sort the guy's bullshit in order to take him, but he's not a criminal or anything. Sarkisian has taken these sorts before with mixed results.

Spoiler

Georgia cornerback Julian Humphrey turned heads on Sunday by announcing his intent to enter the transfer portal just six days before the Bulldogs play in the SEC championship game. Humphrey's announcement left questions about his status with the team going forward, questions that Kirby Smart didn't exactly answer when given the chance.

Smart was tight lipped on Sunday evening when asked about Humphrey a few hours after the junior corner posted on social media about the portal. Smart said that there was "no status that I'm aware of" with Humphrey as the team prepares to face the Longhorns for the second time this season.

"I saw the same thing you saw," Smart said. "We're worried about the guys that we're going to go play Texas with."

When asked if Humphrey would not be with the team for the SEC championship game, Smart said he wasn't sure of it and emphasized that his focus was on the players that were with the team.

Smart was later asked if he had spoken with Humphrey, and Smart explained he had not.

"I've been at work today. I'm still at work today," Smart said. "I'm not chasing all the stuff around y'all are looking at. I'm worried about Texas."

Humphrey began the 2024 season as Georgia's starting cornerback opposite of Daylen Everette, but Humphrey lost the role in Week 12 against Tennessee. An early defensive pass interference call led to Humphrey being pulled in favor of Daniel Harris, and Humphrey backed up the sophomore for the next game. He did not see the field against Georgia Tech in Week 14.

Humphrey recorded 10 tackles and 4 pass break-ups in eleven games.

Humphrey redshirted during his true freshman season in 2022 but played a bigger role as a reserve in 2023. He appeared in nine of the first 10 games for the Bulldogs and really made his mark against Missouri, when he had a pair of tackles and a pass break-up in Georgia's 30-21 victory.

Humphrey seemed to turn the corner against Missouri, but the next week he suffered a significant setback. Humphrey hurt his collarbone against Ole Miss, which was an injury that ultimately forced him to miss the rest of the season.

Humphrey toyed with transferring after the 2023 season with hopes of getting closer to his hometown of Houston. Ultimately, the Georgia coaching staff convinced Humphrey to stay put.

"I talked to Kirby and Muschamp and Coach Donte, and they were saying this is a big year for me. This could be my year to come out and have a good year," Humphrey said in March. "I thought about it, and I wanted to be developed rather than just be down there for one year to say I'm close to my family. I stuck it out here because the development part is one of a kind compared to other schools."

The NCAA transfer portal does not officially open until Dec. 9. Come that date, student-athletes will be able to enter their name up until Dec. 28. A player can withdraw his name and return to his respective school if he so chooses.

Smart was asked about how he deals with the portal opening soon with an SEC championship game just days away and the College Football Playoff after that. Smart explained he does not deal with it and instead is completely focused on his team.

"I've learned in this thing that you worry about the players that are with you, not the ones that aren't. And you focus on the guys that are out there on that field playing it and in trying to win games and eight overtimes and like they love the University of Georgia and want to compete and be part of it," Smart said. "You don't really try to focus on the guys that aren't because they'll be looking for the next stop. We got guys all over the place that aren't here now that wish they could come back. So it's a decision each kid has to make."

I wanted Braylan Shelby before, but watching him over there makes me think he’s beyond saving

I would love Mason Taylor if Helm declares.

Taylor might declare too but he would thrive under Sark.
