Gonna be incredible when it's not enough to get Mateer

They’re definitely getting him. But they have no skill guys, the OL will continue to deteriorate, and their handful of defensive difference makers are all being tampered with by teams with deeper pockets

It's funny - it's not as pathetic as sending the university president up to get Sterlin Gilbert, but they're basically doing the equivalent by ensuring he goes there by hiring his OC and QB coach.

Literally tailoring the OC/QB coach for one specific transfer while ignoring that they have basically no OL, WR or RB talent.

I bet they lose the FR QB who played this year.

They haven’t had a success story HS-developed QB since Bradford. Might as well just reinstall the entire offense around a transfer QB annually

This would be a huge pick up for us. Starter from day 1, add him to the RB room with Trey and Gibson, bring Baxter along slowly, plus the Freshmen.  Assuming Blue goes pro.  I think we need a back in the portal given the current ceiling/injury status of guys on campus.

I can’t figure out which Scrooge is my favorite. I really like the classic George C. Scott version from the early 80’s. Then there’s Mickey’s Christmas Carol. I played Ebenezer in that version in 5th grade. Scrooged is really well done and Bill Murray is excellent. Then there’s Spirited, which I highly recommend.

No Albert Finney? Good afternoon!

I guess I don’t understand what the argument is. Is it- this degree is worth an easy show up job in big time corporate America or is it- this should be pretty easy to monetize a little fame into a comfortable 6 figure living if you played but didn’t star at UT?
I think anyone that played and had a modicum of name recognition at UT should be set for 6 figures a year for life trading on that fame if they aren’t a screw up (mortgage, real estate, insurance, car sales, regular run of the mill sales, coaching football at the high school level etc) but those are jobs you actually have to do to get that money, even if the fame gets you in the door and the opportunity. And when I say fame I don’t mean VY level fame or even chance mock level fame, I’m talking Beau Trahan type fame. Tucker Dorsey seems like a good analog. 1 year for UT. Played a decent amount, was known, but not even a starter. He got recruited in personally to Keller Williams, went on some pods where he got advertised and I’m sure he’s doing ok. I’d think any kind of professional services/sales job would be like that for a Texas athlete. Thats my world and what I’d do if an athlete wanted entry to that. I know you have a ton of irons in the fire and I’d assume you would do similar for anyone that had interest in one of your worlds, right?
Beyond that I don’t understand what people are trying to say.  Being quasi famous, even when narrowcasting, is obviously a good thing for a lot of jobs/opportunities/places.

I’ve had friends work with well-known former Longhorn football stars at fairly menial jobs over the years. Certainly nowhere close to 6 figures. Could those guys have done better? Probably, but it’s a thing.

George C Scott is by far and away my favorite.  I like Mickey's, and the old black and white one with Alaistar Simm is good.  Scrooged is a good laugh, the Patrick Stewart one isn't bad, the animated Jim Carrey one is creepy.  The Man who invented Christmas is the only one I can get my wife to watch with me, she thinks the others are too creepy.

I’m here for Miami driving up the price on Mateer to the point where OU can’t afford to build a roster around him.

Tearing down to the studs can work if 1) the studs contain some elite talent that can determine the outcome of a game (QB, D-Line, O-Line), and 2) the school has a war chest to buy some elite talent in the portal.
I don't think OU can check either of these boxes.
This is really going to hurt for OU.

That’s what Charlie tried to do by dismissing all the “malcontents”. This will end well. lol
