Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - It's Time For You Dorks To Worry About the Numbers

It was so obvious Hudson was making a mistake when he first went there, but some people have to learn the hard way.

It's been trending in that direction all season, he's overrated. Probably going to SMU or something.

SMU would be a massive upgrade over Tech.

From Jordan Scruggs (Horns 247), on Jordan Hudson.

(This guy may be wrong, but he doesn't make stuff up ... )

What you need to know about Micah Hudson now that he's announced his intentions to enter the Transfer Portal

Jordan Scruggs (Horns 247)

Texas Tech freshman wide receiver Micah Hudson has announced he intends to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal upon the window opening on Dec. 9. Hudson will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

In Hudson's lone season in Lubbock, the former five-star appeared in eight games, catching passes in five of them and finishing the year with eight receptions for 123 yards on an average of 15.4 yards per catch.

Part of the 2024 recruiting cycle, Hudson was ranked as the No. 16 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 4 wide receiver in the nation, and the No. 4 overall prospect in the state of Texas according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Although he will no longer be wearing a red and black uniform, Hudson is still the highest ranked high school prospect to ever commit to and/or sign with the Red Raiders in Texas Tech program history. The Red Raiders won out over Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Ohio State when Hudson publicly announced his Texas Tech commitment on Sept. 11, 2023 after silently pledging to the Tech coaching staff earlier in the summer.

In speaking with the Temple, Texas native, I'm told the most important factor for Hudson when it comes to choosing his next destination will be development. The former five-star is looking for a place that'll best prepare him for the NFL while also playing for a program that's competing for national championships year in and year out.

Just like how his high school recruitment was, location and proximity to home will not serve much, if any factor.

Expect Hudson to be patient with his transfer portal recruitment as he plans on taking his time and seeing several college campuses on visits before coming to a decision on his next destination.

Or, he took the big bag knowing full well he could leave the next year?

Not like he would have seen the field here this year.

He also could be just fishing for another bag from Tech. The

Personally, I hope we stick to portal WRs who have already produced on the field.

He is a ridiculously talented player that lied to the staff. I wonder if Sark would ever get over that? Unless he is a full on head case he’s going somewhere and going to do well likely.

On OTF tonite, Gerry feels like Sark will be looking at portal WRs with much better production than Hudson...

I live in Lubbock and the amount of hot air coming from here when Micah committed was crazy. They had radio bites being played over and over again about how the Hudson commitment totally changed the perception of the program overnight and that this was a sign that Tech was on the cusp of greatness because they finally signed their very first 5 star recruit in school history. But they all collectively ignored the fact that the only reason Tech was ever in the race to begin with was because his dad played for them. That was it.

And surprise surprise, he didn’t see any playing time and watched as freshman receivers at better programs started being contributors early on and decided to go elsewhere.

I’m hoping Elic Ayomanor gets in the portal if he does not opt for the NFL.

I’m friends with a guy very close to Hudson, and I could ask the deal. But I won’t. Because I don’t give a fuck what he does.

Reminds me of Javonne Shepard, in a very minor sense. I say let the kid lie in the bed he made.

We may have a more difficult time with WR in the portal this year if they just look at what Quinn's limitations did to Bond and Bolden's low production numbers and not focus on Arch being much better with the deep ball.

Hopefully not and they're smart enough to see the difference. Also, hope Golden decides to go one more year to raise his draft stock.
