Kind of interesting that the staff seems to be prioritizing portal additions with multiple years of eligibility left. Mosely, Brad Spence, Kanu, Endries if it happens. They don't seem as interested in the one year rental types other than DT where they didn't have much choice.

Curious why that’s interesting? If you get good players it’s nice to have them on campus for multiple years.

guy i talk to said that Shipley will visit Austin but not with his wife who was up there for his ou trip (aggy grad). She's on board with ou, FWIW

It sounds like this Shipley guy makes a lot of stupid relationship decisions. If you’re letting a sooner “mentor” you, something went off the rails a while back. Then you marry an aggie while still in college?

Time to start looking forward to Texas Football 2025 - Stone Cold.

Not sure that's a fair assessment seeing as he was asked to be switched from OL to TE to OL in his 3 short years here...

Nonetheless, I hope he lands somewhere where he can contribute in the manner he's seeking, and got a Texas degree along the way.

This is where I am at on Auburn. He made more money last year than 99.9% of the 20-21 year olds in this world and he fucking choked repeatedly and cost us a SEC title and altered the way they had to gameplan for the playoffs. Go look like an idiot and miss field goals somewhere else, Sideshow Bert.

It's probably in the kids best interest to not wind up at a party school like Arizona State. On the flip side, I'd love for his prima donna attitude to fuck up the OU WR room.

Johntay at BYU would be off the charts comedy.  Over/under of his length of stay if he was there would be 3.5 hours before he got kicked out

I met him in the Calgary airport, many many years ago, when he was at the absolute zenith of his wrestling career. And we were both from Austin and were the same age. And lived in Dallas at the same time.

And I not only knew nothing about wrestling, I had never heard of him before. That was what you’d call an uncomfortable conversation.

Seriously what kind of a dumbass would marry an aggie, amirite @Scholz?

I would pay good money for a camera crew to follow him around for the half day he's there.

Lmao. For real. He’d probably break their honor code two seconds after stepping on campus.

He would not be the first BYU football player who did.

Watching OU raid the FCS ranks in the portal has been interesting. Just saw they scheduled another visit for some DL from Southwest Missouri arts and crafts college or some such. They are also after some FCS TE as well and have been linked to some WR from Illinois State.

There are always exceptions (Jared Verse) but it feels like you have to be a special type of talent to make that leap in competition and be productive.

He probably needs to go to BYU and the structure to stay out of trouble. Arizona State is probably not a good idea for someone with a cocaine problem.

immamac needs to put that dude on a limited post plan like they used to have for text messages. Once he gets past 100 posts a month, start charging him .25 per post. This place will either get a lot more bearable or Imma will be able to start another NIL fund. He can call it Burnt EDGEs/Edges/edges.

Good shit right here, @immamac

Are we not tampering for a place kicker? We should lure who we want to the portal instead of just shopping for what's already in there.

Sounds like we lightly tampered this Texas State guy, but OU is playing the sooner+redass connections and also dumping a massive NIL pile.

I've been hoping that the contact with the Texas State guy is cover for some eventual tampering. "See, we've been looking everywhere for a kicker!". Honestly the TXST guy doesn't seem like anything to get worked up about.

Burnt Synapses would be more appropriate. And also…

Pretty sure he's from Victoria?

Born in Austin, but grew up in Victoria. You are correct, sir.

This is good news, IMO - didn't see any path to the field for this guy.  Would've been much more Savea than Lole/Norton.

As far as kickers, this guy might be available:

Andrew Boyle - Football - University of Oregon Athletics

He's been injury prone, which is not ideal. Not the kind of track record Texas is looking for. He did hit a 50 yarder last year. He's also the one who made the successful onside kick against Ohio State, the second successful onside kick of his career. He went 2 for 4 last year on field goal kicks, but he only came on for long yardage kicks. I know him, so that's why I'm mentioning him. He has one year of eligibility left. He's told me he's made it from beyond 60 yards in scrimmages. Nothing wrong with his leg. He was recruited by Mike Leach at Washington State then left after Leach went to Mississippi State. He's going up against last year's starter again for playing time. He'd be cheap, in any case. Not that kickers are ever making a whole lot relatively speaking.

If he went to Oklahoma he'd bring a whole new meaning to BlowU.

The Baylor guy sounds like a serviceable plan B if the Tx State guy chooses OU.

Hankins handled field goal duties throughout the year, finishing 14-of-19 (73.7%) with a long of 51 yards and one blocked attempt. He was nearly automatic on extra points, converting 50 of 51 PATs. His scoring breakdown included 2-of-2 from 20–29 yards, 6-of-6 from 30–39, 4-of-7 from 40–49, and 2-of-4 from beyond 50.

He totaled 92 points in the season, leading the team and ranking ninth in Baylor's single-season history. His field-goal percentage ranked 11th all-time for a single season at Baylor

I like how your “plan b” is basically the same kicker as auburn. Fucking stupid.
