The right thing to do is not pull for either OSU or ND, not watch the game, not read about the result, and not give it any brain cycles at all. The pain from the semifinal is still too fresh.

I'm def not planning on watching, maybe will check ESPN to see the score.

Yes.

With ND, it's not the actual alumni you have to worry about. It's about the millions of fans they have who never went there, and NBC carrying the torch of what they see as the premium brand in the sport.

We have enjoyed a couple of happy decades where Notre Dame hasn't been relevant. But if you think for one minute that Notre Dame can't charge right back up that mountain, academic standards or not...

You need Notre Dame to lose, whether you know it or not.

You obviously didn't make the trip to the Horseshoe in 2005.

The whole thing reminded of the time when LotusHorn showed up on 247 and acted dead serious as he declared to the board, who waited on bated breath to read his "insider" analysis whenever he posted, that he'd discovered that closetojumping was Greg Davis. I had the same reaction when reading the punchline about Muhammad:

Sad John Cena GIF

Like that situation, I think whoever provided the news on Muhammad was just being fucked with by staff or agents or something.

Well that is fucking worthless. He may stay or may leave. Thanks OTF

There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you." I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. Now I'm thinkin': it could mean you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd.

Are there some posts you've made somewhere on this site that you can link to that indicate that you aren't a total fucking moron? I'm trying real hard to keep my ignore list under 100, but the shit I've been reading from you lately is basically forcing my hand.

Tremendous. This leaves Rimbo as the lone motherfucker titling at this windmill of stupidity. It's been a long time Rimbo, it's nice to know you can put on your Helobious Bad Take shoes after all these years and have them fit so snugly.

ND's like polio, right? You think it's down and gone for good, because it's just been so long and times are changing. So suddenly people stop vaccinating because we really gotta worry about these other more modern times now... next thing you know, 17% of kids don't survive until middle school and a good fraction of those are crippled.

Ohio State's a juggernaut until the Day they aren't. One can only lose so many games to one's biggest rival before the masses get antsy...

And... Let's be clear here.

We're definitely choosing between couch burners/wife beaters and a school backed by an organization that looks at Sandusky and sneers at his small-time amateurism.

Genuinely curious how you became a Texas fan.

1. Family rooting interest?

2. Grad school at UT?

3. Something else?

Did you grow up in Texas? If so, I’m sure many Texans don't end up at NIU.

On the subject of rosters for 2025 and transfer impacts and such, things look wildly dark for Georgia.

Transfers out - 13 players including starters at QB, CB (benched for attitude and his replacement sucked and the mods are pissed he went to ATM) and WR-ish in Evans, plus Damon Wilson (was inked in as a starter for 2025).

Transfers in - 6 - Branch brothers, Noah Thomas, 2 mediocre safeties besides the Branch mediocrity, and an also-ran TB from Vandy

The losses for this team are insane:

-QB Beck, gone

-Etienne, gone

-All 3 starting WRs and 2 heavily played backups, gone

-TE, Yurosek is gone

-4 of the 5 starting OL, gone

-All DTs, including an AA, gone

-DEs/Edges, gone

-LBs including an AA, all gone

-S, including an AA, both gone

-K, gone

They return the backup QB, the TB Frazier (who was a far cry from Etienne's capabilities), Delp at TE, the RT who played LT against ND and got repeatedly beaten (1 of 2, the other one is gone now), 2 CBs (one is Harris, who their board is saying the staff needs to replace), and a punter. That's 4 real starters from their 22, a ST guy and a couple of key back-ups.

I know everyone assumes Georgia just reloads, and I think they'll be good, but they're not a top 10 team without something crazy in the spring. Apparently, their NIL backers and really fatigued and the fact that they just won two titles isn't helping on that front.

Cumulatively, based on recent portal work, high school recruiting, and my outside perspective on NIL spending, it seems like there's a possible changing of the guard happening over the next few years in the SEC from Alabama/UGA to Texas/UF/Auburn. It hasn't necessarily materialized yet, and UF/Auburn have a long way to go with on-field results, but it kind of looks that way to me.

I’d be terrified if I was Georgia and just lost my top returning EDGE rusher in former 5 star Damon Wilson to fucking Missouri.

They still have Mike Bobo’s dominating offense as well.

They're pretty amazing at TE as a program. Obviously Bowers was a generational talent, but he wasn't rated that way in HS (decently ranked 4 star). They pushed to win that recruitment. DWashington they paid for, but he was worth it and they helped him become a highly drafted guy as well. Yurosek will likely be drafted and his year there probably helped. Delp isn't on Washington or Bowers' level but he's good and will be a early mid-round guy, I'd bet. Luckie is another highly ranked that they landed and the evaluation looks great. Now they've got 2 more well-regarded 4 star TEs joining in 2025.

They evaluate, recruit, develop and utilize that position better than anyone else in the country with the possible only exceptions being Notre Dame and Iowa, but I'd argue that Georgia easily does the recruiting part better than either of those schools. If Banks ever left, I'd like to see Sarkisian throw insane money at whoever's getting it done at one of those three places.

Yep yep yep.  They are done as a hegemon and NIL fucked them up the ass. They are the worst of the "just cheaters" in the last 15 years in my opinion.  Good for them for making it happen when they had that competitive advantage unlike retarded younger brother in college station, but fuck those guys so fucking hard.  Will be good to show them how our ass tastes in October at their crib.  obnoxious room temperature IQ dipshits from every interaction IRL and online I've had with those shit eating sister fucking morons.
In a week we are going to do the same analysis on Ohio State as all their guys go pro, they are polishing their trophy, they don't have a base to make going nuts in the transfer portal make any sense to them (hell I'd tell Downs thanks for the memories- go be awesome somewhere else if he was my only returner on defense) Day might be out the door- you know the clown show that is OU and aggy, and Texas will have a schedule next year that while having some brand names on it is in fact, charmin soft.

The 247 commentary regarding both of these subjects was informative.

On Wilson, half of the board was basically "next man up!" and the other half was kind of stunned and worried. The mods admonished the next-man-up audience saying that the staff was surprised and had no desire to lose the guy but that Ohio State was offering major dollars that Georgia didn't have. Much like the Cam Ward scenario last year, either people around the program were full of shit about how much they were offering, or Missouri (like Miami in 2024) just came in with something fucking absurd. UGA has some 5 star talent at Edge, but they're either a true freshman or still fully unproven.

On Bobo, apparently Kirby is well aware of what many in the fanbase think of Bobo, and he doesn't give one shit. It's Mack Brown with Greg Davis, fully. They'd have to truly collapse for a change to happen there, per the mods.

I feel there's probably a handful of posters on this site that can justifiably attempt to lecture me on "the big picture" of college football, maybe, and buddy, you're not on that list. You can go back to defending Mack Brown and Charlie Strong with every last shrill cry from your body.

I have news for you. Ohio State is already there, and have been for decades, and the acadmic standards at ND will continue to act as more of a governor to their talent acquisition than what exists (nothing) at Ohio State. Additionaly, they have more booster money than ND. And I've suffered through a decads of the same 5-6 teams winning the title, I'm pretty sure 'Bama or others can claim to be the fucking Yankees more than ND, who's been irrelevent. But you go ahead and piss yourself worrying about the <checks notes> 120k living alumni Notre Dame might bring to bear in NIL becuase the Catholics might be mean to you. As opposed to Texas's 530k, or 600k. And honestly, ND is the only other brand than Texas than can probably be seen as a Darth Vader of college football. Give me another villain.

It's math. Also, I give a shit about the playoffs being succesful. I care about this sport. Are you telling me I'm full of shit and lying?

Texas lost guys they were fine losing or guys they flat out told to head elsewhere for better opportunities.

There's one guy yet to announce who is going to inflict pain for us as fans. I'm assuming, still, that it is either DWilliams or Niblack, but who the hell knows? It wasn't a starter but it is apparently a big name. While Williams started, given that he's been out for months, I'm assuming they're not counting him as a starter if he's the guy being referenced.

Would Niblack cause anyone here pain? Certainly not me. Honestly, I'd expect that guy to get passed up.

Yes. Arguably good enough to have single-handedly altered our CFP path.

Hate to even bring it up, but Luckie caught that third-and-long pass on Stockton's first drive against us. Was he inbounds? If so, barely...but on review, he got credit for the catch. Had he not, who knows what might have happened in that second half? That guy also tackled Barron on his late INT, when otherwise we had a decent path to a winning pick-6. Had Luckie not made both those plays, we might well have started the playoffs with a quarterfinals game against ND. 🤨
