Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - Tampering with Success

I'd think it's Dante Moore time there. Maybe Larry Ellison wants a one year stopgap at Mich. Miami, Bama, ND might need QBs but that's a lot of cheds.

A ND alum told me they were going to make a move on Quinn but he didn’t mention an amount.

Denbrook seems to like a running QB so that makes me wonder if it’s true or not.

I doubt 6 mil but I would not be surprised at all if Quinn can make more in college next year than NFL. A Day 2 pick earns between 5-10M over 4 years. Assuming Quinn is late 2nd or 3rd, that's only like $1.5m per year and probably not a ton of endorsements either. Meanwhile $3-4mil in college wouldn't shock me.

But transferring could risk his future NFL status big time. And on a personal level, probably not too appealing to move to a new school, new teammates, etc just for one year while postponing the NFL dream.

Not an easy decision

NFL is better.  He won't even have to play to earn the money.

BB has been adamant that all the Quinn/portal stuff is bullshit and he’s going to the league, guess we’ll see.

Yeah but $6 million would probably change the calculus there a bit.

Or, he could ball out these last three games and improve his stock back into the first round.

Yeah, that is a stupid amount for 1 year.  Only way I see this happening is if he doesn't think he's going to get drafted until late round 5-7th.  Even then, switching schools and learning a new scheme isn't going to help in his play.  He's also not going to have the luxury of elite skill talent like Worthy, AD Mitchell, Bond, Sanders, Helm, Brooks, Houston at his disposal.  I only see his draft stock going down the longer he stays in college because he's shown that he really has not improved his footwork and ability to play when pressured since day 1.  He also gets injured every 5-6 games.  Enjoy 2 CFP appearances and move on to the league and get your money Quinn.

He could also transfer to another team and completely tank his draft stock after getting injured again and/or playing much much worse than this year.

This. If they can't keep him clean in the pocket he will either not make it through the season or further fall in the draft. I still think a team moves up and takes him late first round, like picks 28-31. That rookie contract for a QB if they hit is gold.

Wasn’t he one of the guys always talking shit about Texas during his early time on campus? Enjoy UTEP or New Mexico State, fatty.

Bold strategy Cotton. I mean, which good players in the portal are even still available? Maybe Branch and Squirrel? The ISU DT?

I'm usually trust the corches but it feels like they're really gambling with this year's portal approach

There is an entire group of qualified players who haven't played in their bowl game or remaining CFP game(s) that can still enter. Also, there is a spring window, as well.

If Texas doesn't secure what they need in this window, do you actually think they won't tamper and throw money at guys they need in the spring?

Pick up your floppy labia and stop freaking out. Texas will be fine.

It wouldn't be surprised if he goes 4th or 5th round like where Dak Prescott was taken.

The dude is fragile, immobile, and can't throw a consistent deep ball without floating them. He also turns down winning routes way too much. That's a horrible combination for the NFL.

Sounds like a really in-demand player juggling bluebloods like those.

That WSU DT's PFF grades were similar to Savea's last year at Arizona, including how almost all his best games were against the bad competition. I'd be surprised if we have any interest. Roster would be better off getting young guys reps than taking him.

He should take it.

Absolutely. If he's getting offered anything near 2 million or more, he should absolutely take it.

Some of the posters here have been absolutely delusional on Quinn. He already did everything you described this year.  He tanked his draft stock a ton this year. He's small, injury prone with bad pocket presence and can't hit a deep ball. There's not that much more room left to fall. The odds are higher he has a better year next year and improves his draft stock while also adding another year to his career where he makes seven figures.

Edgerrin Cooper was the #45 pick, and he got 4/$8.3mil.  If Quinn is getting offered anything near that annual salary amount, he should stay in college and then he can get drafted on day two next year. The chances he gets a meaningful second contract in the NFL are very low.

How many teams are going to give Ewers a better roster and coach than Texas? How many teams can give him the O-line he’s had this year?  He can absolutely tank his value further if he goes to the wrong team/situation.

If the NIL number is something ridiculous like 6 mil, then he obviously should take it, but if it’s something even comparable to NFL 2nd round or later money, he should go pro.

If he's going somewhere like Miami and plays a soft schedule against dogshit ACC teams all year and stays healthy, he could easily put together a better season than this year and improve his draft stock. The combination of being the consensus #1 recruit and what he's done at Texas set a floor for his draft stock.  I don't think he's at risk of hurting his stock much more with one more CFB season.  There's more upside than downside for him if he returns IMO.

We can apply many criticisms to the Brockermeyers, but fearing clowns is not one of them. Any person of sound mind and body should absolutely fear clowns and stay vigilant in keeping them far away from themselves and their family.

Brockermeyer account confirmed.

Yup, the rumblings from the national media, especially McShay and his NFL connections, are very much for him transferring. I’m betting it’s Miami, though Oregon makes sense as well.

MCshay is a Huckster who is wrong 99% of the time. Anyone who listens to that clown is an idiot. He said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen didn't succeed in the NFL.

Bo Nix was shit for most of his 10 college seasons, so I don’t think you can rule out Ewers improving with another college season.  If he gets an offer anywhere near 6 million, he should take it assuming he doesn’t improve his draft stock in the rest of our games.

I have no ill will whatsoever toward Quinn. Very thankful for his contributions to our program.

...but man, him going somewhere else and improving dramatically a la Nix would feel like a real kick in the nuts.
