Did I say that I need you?

Did I say that I want you?

Oh if I didn't, I'm a fool you see /

No one knows this more than me ... as I come clean.

That song is a gut punch, and one of my top-5 favorite songs ever. Tell the people you love that you love them. Every chance you get.

Favorite band ever. Buddy across the street had the Ten CD when it came out, and made me a copy onto cassette, which I then proceeded to play until it broke. For whatever reason, he didn't copy Release, so like ten years later I 'discovered' this brand new song at the end of my favorite album, and was dumbstruck lol.

Bought every album religiously through Avocado, then sort of fell out of love with their experimentalism. Which I understand was a weird time to draw that line, since I was largely fine with Vitalogy and No Code lol.  I've never seen them play live until my wife surprised me with ACL tickets in 2009. I need to go spend some time with Backspacer, Lightning Bolt, and Gigaton. Dark Matter is growing on me, but I'm not sure i'll ever lose the desire to hear both guitars wailing at once on some arena-grunge-rock tunes, like when I was 15.

BTW, their best song is SOLAT. Specifically, the arrangement from Unplugged.

That's a great song.  To piggyback on @capnamerca's comments, Pearl Jam is far from my favorite band ever, BUT when they get it right (for me) holy crap do they get it right.  "Just Breathe" is a perfect example.  I don't much like Eddie's yarling, but on that song he just sings, and he has such a rich, beautiful baritone timbre, he's really one of the greats, no pitch issues, nothing.  Just simple, perfect singing.  And then every once in awhile the band locks in and just gets it all right and melts your face -- "Even Flow", "Spin The Black Circle", etc.

I'm glad this band came along.

Daughter. Footsteps. Last Kiss. Given to Fly. Dude can absolutely sing.

Next June will be the 10 year anniversary of when the mom across the street from us died from cancer. Mid 30s, 2 kids aged 5 and 7. Just awful.

At her funeral her husband played "Just Breathe" with a slide show of her and her family. I can't hear that song without being taken back to that moment and hearing the sobbing from the crowd. I'm welling up right now thinking about it.

Eddie is 60 today in case y’all were feeling young.

I'm pushing 50 and have been listening to him since I was about 15, so that actually seems young for him.
