I like how easily susceptible Rex is to thinking that the like three dipshit Trumpers he pals around with are representative of the vast majority of Americans.

I'd like to know how he knows the vast majority of Texas fans, alums, and students support Hartzell fervently.

I bet if you show him some stats it will change his mind. He's notoriously open to acknowledging when he's wrong.

Well, I just voted Kamala and Allred so I don’t pay much attention to what Trumpers say politically. Hartzell used common sense and class with that letter, the latter of which was not on display Saturday night. And yeah, I’d say 90% of the Texas fans in the stands Saturday have a highly favorable Hartzell view.

Well, I think I did manage to convince him once that Harlan Crow might actually be a nazi. The might be the only time he's ever changed his mind.

You did not change my mind. I was swayed that Harlan is one of the dumbest billionaires out there, but that’s the extent of it.

This and there are people in the office of the president that are very close to Abbott.  My guess is Hartzell is just a puppet/has no backbone.  Most likely why Fenves took a lateral move to Emory, he saw the writing on the wall.

Hartzell is definitely a toady, and likely a true believer. Perry and Abbott have been working a very long time to destroy UT.

Texas to Emory is not even close to a lateral move though. Emory is a good school, but it's a massive step down for Fenves. No one would do that unless they REALLY wanted out of a toxic environment.

What are you talking about? Emory is a great school with a stellar reputation. US News ranks it 24th overall, for example

I am fully aware Emory is ranked higher and stand by what I said. Emory is a great small school. There's nothing wrong with that, but UT is a small city cranking out elite research in nearly every department.

Politics aside, most wouldn't leave UT for Emory.

I should add that my response regards upper administration specifically. Faculty primarily care about their specific department and closely related ones. I could easily see faculty jumping to Emory, depending on funding, course load, graduate student support, etc. Private schools can be much more flexible on those.
