That still crosses my mind occasionally when I'm playing that stretch of the Zilker course. How long ago was it that you yelled that at us from your car- 2007?

Well played, sir. 👏👏👏

And the University Baptist Church there at the end in the background.

Also two Buffalo nickels to whoever can spot armybrat in that pic.

I didn’t hang out on the Drag.

Louie’s Lounge (on Trinity between 5th & 6th), Scholz’s, and the New Orleans Club were my go-to joints.

I've said it before and I was reminded again this morning... Daniel at the Texas Rowing Dock (not to mention we have places like the Texas Rowing Dock) is a great example of why Austin kicks ass

I don't know man. I didn't see you out there.

With all of the excellent "scenery" on the trail this morning that is completely understandable.

It can be a tad bit distracting

Took a solo run to Deep Eddy this afternoon and had a great conversation with a 65 year old, lifelong Austinite over a few cold Shiner’s.

No bitching today... its Friday, going to be a good weekend, going out to dinner with my wife and then we'll pick some rando cocktail bar.

Was thinking, isn't it great that if you don't like Moody Center, you can opt for Moody Theater and if that doesn't work, you can go for Moody Amphitheater?  Like, this Moody sucks... I'm trying the other ones.  OK... not bitching.  I just bought tickets to a show next week at Moody Amphitheater.   Have another show there in two weeks... ACL coming up the week after.  All the live music...

Are you going to Kaleo on Sept. 28?  We have tickets for that show, which will be my first at Amphitheater, and I'm guessing we'll be sweating our asses off.  If I go to the 2:30 p.m. Mississippi State game before the show, it could be in questionable shape.

Sofi Tukker next week, Goth Babe the following week.   We went to IDLES earlier in the year but it was something like 88 that day.  I'm thinking by the 28th you have decent odds at reasonable weather.

ACL Weekend 1 the next weekend

I'll text you for weekend one... I'll get there good and early as usual.

Not to mention Levitation the end of October... plus football, F1, etc.  Good times!

Add Food + Wine Fest, which they moved from May during the pandemic and have decided to keep it in November.

Yeah, Fall in Austin is a fantastically fun time.  I've been to F1 qualifying Saturday for the past decade or so, but this is the first year I'll miss it because I gotta be at that Georgia game.

That weekend is going to be bonkers in Austin.

No shit.  Maybe if I rent out my house and throw in my wife I can pay for my kid's first year tuition.

And various Oktoberfests at multiple local breweries.  Good times!

Great night in Austin. I missed the Mississippi State game because I was flying back from Oregon, but had dinner downtown with the wife, followed by our first show at Moody Ampitheater, which is a pretty nice venue, and the weather was fall-ish enough where I didn’t sweat my balls off. Kaleo put on a great show, and the lead singer gave a nice nod to the Horns.

It’s my wife and I’s 10th anniversary and we had planned a trip to London. We had to cancel early this week for health reasons but snagged a bungalow at Hotel Saint Cecelia for the weekend. We’d rather be in London but it’s been great.

We had drinks at Garage (I love this place) and dinner at Pecan St Cafe on Friday. We went to our daughter’s soccer game Sat morning (I’m the coach) and then hung at the hotel all afternoon before Mattie’s for dinner last night.

It’s remarkable how St Cecilia and Mattie’s are in the middle of town and still feel miles away. Both are very special places.

Yeah, its amazing how there are times in Austin where you feel like you are on vacation and a world away from everything.

Never been to St Cecilia but isn't that the hotel that some of the bigger musicians use to get away from everyone?

Anyway... T-minus what... 49 hours?

Hey, not sure if y'all saw this about Samuel Grey Horse:

https://www.statesman.com/story/news/fire/2025/01/10/horseback-santa-samuel-grey-horse-house-fire/77594420007/

Who?  You know him - you've seen him so many times...

He's a fixture on South Congress and loved by the music community.  His GoFundMe has already raised something like $32K (the goal was $25K).  Love to see the community rally around him.
