If you’ve been sexually active for 15 years and haven’t been in a long term relationship such that you have a lower body count then… hard pass.

Yes, thank you.  The idea that someone can go 10 years without a LTR or any sexual partners and they're sexually normal insane.

If you are concerned with a woman's number of sex partners, particularly if they are too high, you are likely an incel or a misogynistic red piller.

Would you be willing to marry a former prostitute?

I am not willing to marry anyone. Once was enough for me.

However, to address the purpose of your question, I don't consider sex workers 2nd class citizens or sub-human. If I was dating someone who admitted to having been a former sex worker, it wouldn't bother me.

For me it depends...was she a hooker or an escort?

Escort yes, hooker no because usually there's something worse going on in your life if you're a lot lizard or street walker.

High class escorts on the other hand, I assume are decent looking and doing it for the money.

Fuck McMurtry for that sequel

It wasn't the best book in the series but I did like it. It did seem like he was attempting to tear down the mythology of Lonesome Dove with Streets of Laredo. From what I recall, he never intended Lonesome Dove to be a tale of western heroism and over corrected with Streets of Laredo.

Regarding Pea Eye, I know a lot of people didn't like their pairing but I thought they made a good match and it made a lot of sense in the books. Pea Eye wasn't as old and slow in the books.

I think he wrote it that way because of Return to Lonesome Dove. I mean he kills Newt with hell bitch. Deus ex machina in reverse kind of. He’s like fuck you no happy endings here. Or maybe he just hated Ricky Schroder

Shit, I think that a LOT of guys of intelligence might.  There's a lot that's attractive about staying at home, goofing around on your computer, reading books, whatever it might be (I had to fight those tendencies myself.  Fortunately, the cold hard fact of "yeah, but all the girls are OUT THERE" motivated the shit outta me to get out there myself).
I lived in Moore Hill my freshman year.  Was at least acquainted with most of the guys on my hall.  When I was heading home for Xmas break, was taking my time packing my car, and walking the halls.  Stopped by one of the rooms with the door open, maybe 8-10 of the residents were in there.  A few guys were playing some computer game, a couple more were drinking some cheap beer.  I hung out in the doorway, shot the shit for a moment.  One of the guys turns around and asks "hey Brisket...we hang out like this all the time, like every weekend.  How come you never come down and hang out with us?"  I remember saying out loud something to the effect of "dude....have you been outside [waving to the entire UT campus all around us]?  That's where all the girls are.  It's FULL of girls.  That's where I am on the weekends, why aren't y'all out there?"  Got a shrug.  But FFS, sure, it's fun sitting in a room playing some game, drinking beer with your buddies and laughing at fart jokes.  Nothing wrong with doing it some time.  But sticking with that safe place instead of putting yourself into an environment that 99% of the straight men on earth would have killed to be in?  Fuck that noise.

I’m pathologically extroverted. Some times it’s a curse, but the blessing is that it kept me from the factors that breed social isolation and all its misgivings

I think what the internet and social media allows is for them to form groups, become organized, and be collectively influenced by agitators to take action……

That's a pattern happening with conspiracy theorists, racists, incels, anti-vaxxers, environmentalists, BLM, #metoo and other groups.  Some of them are righteous causes that have been corrupted or coopted, either wholly or in specific instances.  Collectively, its all leading to a growing sense of societal malaise and erosion of faith in our institutions and each other.  Its a problem that no one is effectively combatting, maybe not even trying.  Efforts seem more focused on adding groups of angry, scared and motivated followers to your political tribe.

I'll add that back when these guys HAD to have some level of normal social interaction (they couldn't just hide in their little caves/online worlds), they were exposed to some social pressure like "maybe, dude, you could dress a little better -- see how we dress -- and you'd have better luck with the ladies.  It helped the dorks become a bit more normal.  Now, they can just stay and wallow in their dorkdom.

Perfect post Goredho, the vaccine thing is a good example. Many of us who are Gen Xers knew somebody who was affected directly or indirectly (family member or friend’s relative) by a disease for which there are now vaccines or treatments, whether it be polio or whatever.

If somebody around us brought up some insane conspiracy about a disease not existing or a vaccine not being about vaccination, somebody would usually tell them basically “shut the fuck up and go talk to your cousin or this or that person who had it in their family or whatever and they’ll set your dumbass straight” or something like “you know that cluster of graves in such-and-such cemetery, where several family members died within a year or two of each other? That was because of this disease or outbreak or whatever.  Here’s the newspaper clippings about them dying.”

A lot do them probably wouldn’t be bothered to talk to the person being referenced or look at the family history or whatever because there was pressure applied and they felt foolish or at the very least, challenged head on.  Now, they can come up with, or read some stupid notion, go online, and within minutes find dozens of people who will not only agree with them, but make them feel validated and encourage them to take things farther.

I swear, we need some kind of critical thinking class in high school, but the pushback would be insane.

Do I hear the bat signal?

This is the correct answer.

A lot of high end escorts retire because they marry clients.  Happens all the time.

Dorkdom's Wallow will be my metal band's name.
