Obsessed.

Please quit acting like you know things. You're obviously a dumbass.

Yeah show me her comments that show she isn't for major tax increases, wants a new deal type green plan that could bankrupt our economy, and destroy our infrastructure (and would end racism as the result ).  She doesn't even fathom the cost that it would take to even begin implementing those green plan ideas.

She contradicts herself in several video sound bites about what she wants, and what her plans are.  Come back when she says something that actually feasible in the here and now.

Show me her credentials for even discussing a plan so vastly game changing for a nation to undertake . Where did the get the experience to propose changes that have no substance other than her wide eyed hopes and dreams for a socialist utopia.

She's a proponent for a more socialist form of gov't.  I admire her egalitarian concepts, but they aren't backed up with anything approaching a realistic plan yet.  When does that happen ?  Year 2 of her first term ?

You see, the difference between me and you is, i am just smart enough to know that i'm ignorant of these issues and know that i will just look like an idiot trying to spout off about them.

I just tend to like people who try to propose new ideas, seem to care about the middle class, are eager to solve problems that we will face in this century, and don't use hateful and divisive language.

You, not so much. But please, tell me more about what Fox and Friends thinks of AOC.

Rasmussen has him over 50% for the first time in his Presidency this week. Don’t trust them, read the different polls from his SOTU which all were close to 60% approval rating. If you don’t think this was a bad week for the Dems and a good one for the Party then you are blind my friend.

Is that now the standard by which we judge politicians?

Or is that just a selective application to this particular politician?

No, definitely not but contradicting oneself isn't the same as just saying things that are beyond the realm of current feasibility or your knowledge about any of them.   And yeah trump's Mexico will pay for the wall falls squarely into that realm along with lots of other shit he's said.  She's fair game now that she's spouting g off her desired policy.

I'm not attacking her unfairly. I'm looking at her sound bites and she puts forward plans that just don't meet the sanity check for feasibility. My biggest issue with her is she is a socialist leaning elected offical.  I don't believe her brand is a feasible track for the US so I'm gonna call her out on it.  Oh the hor-ror.......

I a man sure no republican like trump has ever contradicted himself, I am sure you possibly just gloss over that and focus on 1 congresswoman

Trump is a truth-stretching imbecile who is unfit for his office.

AOC is a truth-stretching imbecile who is unfit for her office.

These two statements are not mutually exclusive.

I'd argue that her ideal of 100% renewable energy isn't technically feasible (we do have the means) but they might not be politically feasible, given the inertia of the public and the special interests of specific groups like oil-dependent communities and companies, as well as their representatives.

And, I think, that distinction matters. If we, as a nation, set a national goal to wean ourselves off of fossil fuels (disregarding the merit for a moment), what are the steps that would be necessary to get those communities, companies, and politicians "on board?" Do we have something equal to, or greater, tangible value to offer them that will affect their political will to support this cause?

Personally, I think making the case on a moral basis is a cake-walk and is entirely feasible on a technical/scientific basis. What needs to be demonstrated by offering present-day and future value hasn't been demonstrably successful other than (maybe) nibbling at the edges.

Therefore, we should be considering ways to (a) convince those groups through financial incentives, (b)  guilt them to prompt rapid changes, or (c) put them out of business by shutting them down or regulating them to death.

We, through our representatives, will have to decide how to handle it.

Let me know when that has ever happened other than WWII. As humans, it’s much easier for us to band together and kill a common enemy than work together putting aside self interest to work on a problem without an immediate benefit. That’s why the hope should be technological advancement that benefits the world financially through the adoption of technology that’ll mitigate the causes of climate change.

Great, Trump is gonna take credit for accidentally inventing/endorsing Modern Monetary Theory.  Super job assholes.  The dumbest fucking economic doctrine to come along in decades has created the strangest of bedfellows.  This is like anti-vax homeschool weirdos.  You got the super liberal who don't want to be beaten down by the corporations and then the ultra nutjob righties who think debt and disease are illusions perpetrated by the devil and dastardly alliteration.

Not sure why people are so mad about the new green deal.  From what I can tell it’s a list of very high level goals that could never be implemented in that basic form.  And i don’t think it’s intended to be the actual laws itself.  What are the goals?

  • Reduce pollution
  • improve energy efficiency
  • encourage better paying jobs
  • reduce income inequality
  • improved access to healthcare

Is someone one actually opposed to these ideals!  Sure any law could be horrible (or effective) in terms of achieving these goals but the goals themselves aren’t bad.

my guess is that nonbinding resolutions like this are raised frequently in Congress especially by the true believers.  I assume this one got attention due to the left and rights over fascination with AOC.

Exactly this. The Dems are outlining their clear goals and that's all this is meant to be. A conversation starter, since the Trump admin will be discussing none of the issues related to climate change. There's no hope of passing something like this with the current admin.

If the Dems actually started introducing legislation and taxes, it would give the GOP an early start on their talking points and make the GND dead before it every really gets started.

Sorry, didn't you hear? We are not ethnically homogeneous so single payer wont work.

As a doctor I can attest that this is 100% true.  A white person comes in with a medical condition, it will cost X dollars to treat.  A brown person with the exact same condition will cost 2-3x dollars to treat.  We even have a term for it at the hospital, “Code Brownie”.  (Not to be confused with Code Brown which means something else entirely).  We can not figure out why...maybe its the extra costs for burritos or fried chicken and watermelon, but this is REAL and is the reason single payer will never work in the US.  If you don’t believe it, look at Medicare. The data CLEARLY shows that white people are cheaper to treat...and...if the data doesn’t show that, well then just ignore that data and believe it anyway.

Guys, I am not attacking her unfairly. I am reviewing cherry picked sound bites picked out by right wing media and agreeing with them when they tell me the sound bites are bad. What is unfair about that? Sure, I can't point to any real contradictions or concrete problems with the proposals she has actually made. But, I can certainly criticize the proposals I have imagined her to make and the legislation I have imagined she could propose. All of this is fair and reasonable, and not at all a sign that I am dangerously unhinged.

Meanwhile, Trump is running the largest deficit in our history.

And now he's restarting a nuclear arms race.

But don't worry, since we need all of our money for military and walls, we'll just stop spending on education, the arts, and social programs.

This is how military dictatorships are built.  And you "conservatives" are lapping this shit up.  History will not be kind to any of you.

You missed the point. I wouldn't know a thing about Ocasio-Cortez if the rabid right hadn't force fed her to me. They chose her as a battleground for national debate largely based on personal attacks and distortions of what she is. I enter the debate for that reason. I'll take her over any GOP you can name and probably a lot of Dems.

You don't hold up an example and then call the person responding to the example responsible for the example.

The left pushes her...and the right can't ignore her because the left has made her such a 'thing'.

She's got a top notch social media team and leftist groups behind her...she didn't just go from idiot bartender to political phenom on her own.  A lot of work & money was thrown at slapping lipstick on this dip shit.

As a conservative I'm just laughing.  Yes, it's concerning and infuriating that there are this many morons out there.  But the reality is she's going to screw up badly, again and again and again.  Even the leftist MSM can't cover it up forever, it's just a matter of time.  And she's not going to get any smarter.
