"He had football jerseys tailored" should be your tombstone.

Piney Point socialist hypocrite should be yours. Tell me, have you shared your political views with your neighbors? My guess is you haven’t because you want to fit in.

Not sure where to put this, but since this is the Green New Deal thread for now, this is a great example of what can be fucking done when congress (the Senate) actually works like it is supposed to.  This is fucking great.

Senate backs biggest conservation bill in a decade, protecting millions of acres of land and adding four national monuments

Don't know how to spoiler or I'd add the text here.

Naw, it's more fun putting on the umpire hat from time to time when other wannabe umpires try their hand at just calling strikes against one side.  It's their job to prove up how they're not hypocrites when they're, well, being hypocrites.

Besides, it's more fun that way.  We're just having fun, right?  And you do know that there's no "work" to be done b/c she's never called anyone on that team out for similar utterances, right?  I mean, of course you know that.

You seem mad jimmy?  Why so mad?

That ole "ignore" button looks big and pretty, don't it?

Oh, how we all missed that smug, down-home "we're just havin' fun" both-sides cajun demeanor.

Wait.  No we didn't.  You're welcome to crawl back under the rock from which you recently emerged.  Some of us actually give a fuck about the Republic.  You?  Apparently not.  Guffaw.

Bummed to see the new deal doesn’t address the impending magnetic polar reversal.

This dude posts on flat earther boards.

Considering the earth is due for a reversal of the poles I am not sure how I would believe the earth's surface is flat. It would be kind of difficult to create a magnetic field with a flat piece of crust.

No that was our former donut-delivery white nationalist, Tahoe.

That was Tahoe, though I'm sure Icono would cheer as he watched.

Speaking of this, what was that post-apocalypse 1970's movie where the poles of the Earth switched suddenly and everything was left all jammed up?  Like a Mad Max movie meets David Carradine?  Really want to go back and watch it again.

This is what real political courage looks like.  AOC should take notes.

Shooting fish in a barrel to score cheap political points isn’t political courage.

The public gained very little from that dialogue.

However, props to her for making him uncomfortable.

The public really doesn't know much about that massacre and all the other god awful things Abrams helped perpetuate in Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador etc. Granted much of the public isn't watching C-SPAN but they'll watch some videos posted on twitter. Her bringing awareness of this is helpful.

The ugly parts of our history should never be forgotten and it’s good that she reminded us of that in a public forum.

so maybe more valuable than I previously described.

It is always a good time to remind Americans of the United States' involvement in Latin American politics. It's even better when the discussion involves the School of the Americas and our habit of backing murderous right wing thugs in the name of capitalism.

I don't know what's more amazing, that we allow this kinda bullshit in our current system or she didn't learn about this practice from defeating Joe Crowley---a Congressman who all but reinvented this current system we currently operate under.

To be fair, her Green New Deal proposal wasn't so much about subsidies as public investment (with the express requirement that the public retain an interest). In one scenario the government is just giving money to a private entity. In the other the government is investing in an asset that government will own (or partly own). She has also criticized the sale of drugs developed on the public dime with no interest retained by the public. I'm not sure it is wise policy to be so absolutist, but it I don't think it is evidence of inconsistency.

I agree this is a load of crap just as it is when the unions pay homeless people to hold signs in front of new developments that aren't being build by union workers.

Reading the thread on Daily Texan and hearing imbeciles croon about bully ceo's and horrible business to the tunes of their heart strings really helps me to understand how and why we've gotten to a point where this bar tender with a loony toon worldview is revered with 112 and counting pages.

I feel weird in modern Best Buy.  Why are you trying to sell me Viking ovens here?  Why is there a whole special room for high end HDMI cables?

i think best buy makes more money showrooming than it does from sales.

Why not? There are somethings that may require fossil fuels for quite a while. But it certainly seems feasible for to replace vast majority of energy generated with fossil fuels - e.g., power plants and ground transportation, well within 100 years.

I wonder how much damage will be done to the environment while we try “saving” it. How many environmental laws will need to be suspended to pull this off in 40-50 years?  Aspirations are wonderful, America needs realistic ideas.

I don't think I've been inside a Best Buy in at least 5 years.

I was in a Best Buy yesterday. They didn't have what I needed. Had to order from Amazon.
