Yeah, my bad trying to pick up in the middle of a conversation. I'll be damned if I'm going to read all 100 pages of this thread or however many it's been since I last read it.

Figured that once I started posting my response, but the blood was up, and I wasn't gonna let a couple of good Uh's go to waste.

Not any dumber than this little gem.

EXCELLENT comparison. Very glad you posted it.

Pretty much everyone around here laughed our asses off at Hank Johnson at the time. Nobody outside the Trump orbit (a group that apparently = “the left” these days) is holding up Hank Johnson as a great intellect or thought leader.

Contrast with Shapiro, who is literally being praised as one of the great minds of our time by conservatives, is one of the premier speakers at CPAC, etc.

So, again, EXCELLENT comparison. It demonstrates the contrast between Trumpists and everyone else incredibly well.

Lowest revenue increase since 2010. Inflation adjusted, revenue actually decreased. 2018 represents the 8th worst change in tax revenue overall since 1969.  And, in fact, outside of the recession years, 2018 represents the lowest increase in revenue in that time period. But yeah, revenue is "way up".

Here’s a better question. Do you think Trump’s unilateral tariffs and trade war with China has a positive effect on the economy, a negative effect, or doesn’t matter?

That is a better question. I was responding to some other numbnuts, hyperbolic CR post.

Overall I think it has a negative effect, magnitude TBD. It’s obvious though that the powers that be have decided the trade/IP situation with China has reached the status of a national security issue and is worth the risks.

so revenue is increasing?  just not fast enough for you?  maybe we are spending too much?  Revenue is up 53% since 2010.

Or, that rate of increase decreased substantially. And revenue decreased it terms of adjusted dollars.  So, that isn't great. Or even good. And you're the one that claimed tax revenue was "way up". Or did you forget?

I appreciate the reply (sincerely) although thoughtful economic policy discussions aren’t appropriate for this thread- this thread is reserved for panic over every public statement made by a NY congresswoman, memes, trolling, and thirst posts. Maybe we can start another thread and only allow access to people who can pass a basic knowledge test

That may be underestimated; the calculation factors in $1,500 per month for housing expenses, whereas the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the city is around $2,000.

Why do they have to live in the City?   Can't they ride the Metro in from MD/VA with the rest of the unwashed masses?

Sorry you're not allowed to use examples of stupid ass things democrats do and or say. That's called whataboutism or bothsidesism.

I'd agree that term gets thrown around a lot at times and both sides participate in it when convenient, but this a perfect example of it.

Remind me exactly what something a Democrat said a decade ago that was stupid and ignorant has to do with whether or not Ben Shapiro is some great intellectual thinker, which is what was being argued in this thread.  Whether or not Democrats ever say stupid things, and they definitely do, has nothing to do with Ben Shapiro and the boy-genius status he is given from many conservatives.  I don't recall anyone in this thread arguing for Hank Johnson as an example of the left's intellectual superiority.

So, yes, whataboutism is correct.

no, cornyn thought he was being clever.  "hey guys, i'm going to quote this bad guy telling us that the individual has to be subservient to the state as a warning against AOC style socialism!" nevermind that the guy he quoted had socialists rounded up en masse and their offices burned down.

Link?

Since this is a firsthand account, you would think Grim would mention if she was being sarcastic.

No link but I’ve seen enough of Feinstein’s dry humor.   Perhaps you can provide me with the question that was asked to generate the response?

Pelosi has the same style of sarcasm to stupid questions.

Two other reporters quoting her without mentioning any sort of sarcasm.

Think about what business they’re in. Think about what generates clicks.  They’re just reporting what she said.  She’s trolling.

She’s not a fucking idiot.  She’s done plenty of hearings on social media in politics.
