Is this one of those But Trump moments ?   I mean this is a thread entitled Alexandria Occasion Cortez.

I've never said Trump was a super star. Your hoisting her atop the superstar status train is just plain ignorant, and way way way premature.

How many pages does this thread need to be for AOC to have superstar status?

We’re at 181 pages which is more than the 2020 democratic nominee for president thread.

I guess we just have different definitions of superstars. She's a rookie who's captured the spotlight.  Results are what gets you superstar status.  Not just tough talk.

Tweeting is not leading. AOC is good, but she has a lot more to do before she is a leader. Right now she is an employee of the people she represents.

She’s an activist that is using all the tools at her disposal to affect real change.  That is what leaders do.  Leaders don’t wait around for their turn to be anointed.  They take it.

no, they are empowered to lead. Tweeting about change does not do that. You love what she says, fine, she can be your leader. Does not make her everyones. to some this person was a leader.

He’s not leading you or me but he is leading.  He OWNS the Republican Party now mainly because of the wrath he can bring down on dissenters via tweet.  He has a 90% approval ratings within his party despite being a high functioning imbecile.  His power is in the political influence he wields.   Now tell me again how tweets don’t matter.

We’ve done this dance before.  What has Donald Trump accomplished before he became president?  Was he a superstar before he was president?  Did his manipulation of the media have real world consequences?  Like him becoming president, banning Muslims, starting a trade war, putting kids in cages?

This narrative of yours is fucktarded.

“AOC is a superstar because she’s done nothing, just like Trump. But she tweets just like Trump ”...

So, then, you are leading the Lib CR similarly to how Trump is described and how he leads the Republicans?

Why?  Last real poll I saw, from April, showed that she is quite popular in her district:  https://www.politico.com/states/new-york/albany/story/2019/04/09/ny-14-voters-like-ocasio-cortez-and-mostly-approve-of-her-policy-positions-even-if-they-dont-label-themselves-democratic-socialists-962114

I see some bullshit polls from the "Stop the AOC PAC" that show otherwise, but nothing nearly as credible as the Siena poll.

I am in her district and I hope she keeps pissing off establishment politicians. She will win again in 2020 and in between now and then I hope she also angers every old white person who can't handle seeing a brown person fighting for change. Hell I'm white and I couldn't be happier with what she is doing. I do not agree with every position she holds, but she is on the right side of history with what she is doing.

Not enough thinkers and Trump kinda proves it.  The game sucks because our population is poorly informed and under educated.  Perhaps it’s that way by design.  Keep people poor and stupid so they can’t organize and fight back.  Seems like the people fighting for more education and a healthier population are the most vilified.  I wonder why that is?

Anyway, Pelosi fucked up by attacking people she claims don’t matter and then telling her party behind closed doors not to publicly attack each other.

This would all be a lot easier it she just opened an impeachment inquiry and concentrated the negative energy at the White House.  But no, because she... has some master plan?  I guess the Pelosi plan involves isolating the growing grassroots movement and alienating the rising stars in her party. Because that’s what she has done this week.

Slow down. You disagree with her and are white. Therefore you sir are a racist. Ask Nancy.

So brave to label  all criticism directed at herself as racism. Such a mental midget and her supporters eat it up.

Trump isn’t a leader.

He’s a demagogue

Both can be true depending on where you stand.

It’s a perception vs reality thing.

Many of us see him as a demagogue and not a leader because he has no real direction, purpose,  or coherent vision other than protecting his own power and wealth.   In this sense he has a lot in common with McConnell and Pelosi.

However, to his millions of followers he is their dear leader protecting America and the flag from the evil liberals and foreign invaders.  Only he can do this.  He pulls this off through his demagoguery and amplification by a large network of amplifiers.  He is a leader in the sense that he has the most followers despite not really leading them anywhere except off a cliff to Lala land.

Pretty easy for him to gather followers (rightly or wrongly) when the democrats propose things like:

Decriminalizing crossing the border (and yeah some do support open borders, so stop with the democrats don't support that concept, many do).  That is only an invitation for more people to flood the border.

Free health care for illegal aliens (when it was expressly stated by Mr. Obama illegal aliens wouldn't receive free health care in the ACA). Another invitation to cross the border.

Supporting sanctuary cities.

Making people who think American citizens interests should be put above others are just a bunch of racists.

Reparations for slavery, a controversial issue all around.

Trump knows the buttons to push whether he's right or wrong or sincere about his comments.  He gets plenty of fodder from progressive leaning democrat comments from their own mouths, and raised hands (SEE: most recent Democrat debates).

In short many people (roughly half the voting population) feel democrats are not the party that works for citizens of the country.  I can't honestly say either party really does any more, so that's more a, the gov't is abdicating it's responsibility issue.

Yeah yeah flame away. I'll save you the trouble :  Top responses coming............ Nuh uhh, yer just a fucking, idiot, racist, supporting another idiot racist.

I'm neither a supporter of Trump, nor have any beliefs that white people are superior to any other race on the planet, But do believe a nations sovereignty is something  to be respected, and not given away when our own at risk citizens, children, and veterans are often so neglected.

AOC complaining that she is on to many committees and the Dems are "keeping her busy" is wild. If they kicked her off one single committee she would be screaming from the roof tops.

He led the messaging on fighting the Russia investigation and the Republican Party followed.

The Republican Party takes their cues from Trump no matter how stupid.  Full stop.

America is under threat because of immigration?

America?

LOL

A massive, unchecked, influx of under educated, un employed people (or unemployable in anything other than low pay manual labor) into a country is most definitely a nail in a coffin. We don't handle our own actual at risk citizens issues currently,  and you welcome millions more to that list.    Sorry if actual reality troubles your utopian world vision.

It's you who has no understanding of the realities of a modern world.  That "low pay manual labor" is quite literally the economic backbone of a huge swath of the American economy.

Furthermore, calling this influx "massive" is historically ignorant.

Pelosi probably shouldn't scold AOC and the other three for "attacking" other Democrats when she herself has attacked them directly.

The fact that Pelosi hasn't even attempted to coordinate with any of the young guns on messaging is mind-boggling.

I mean a nation today should not allow a massive influx. Of course it's not the same scale as the migration trends of the 19th and early 20th c. from Europe.  It's also NOT the same economic reality of that time period. The safety net in place now was not a reality then.  Those people also wanted to assimilate into the American experience in a large % of the time.

And yes, manual labor is a big part of any functioning society.  Min. wage manual labor will not support a family nor cover the costs of health care today.  So adding more and more of that type of low wage earning, un educated folks is not a gain for a functioning, growing society.

I think you're begging the question here.

It should be a gain for a functioning, growing society.

Why isn't it?
