Will Kelvin be able to play OT in the NFL??

I've seen different draft discussions mention possibly moving him to guard which moves him down in the 1st Rd of the draft...

The Yahoo Sports draft guy seems to have a hard on about it. Mentions it every single version of his mock draft.

Is it just unique to Yahoo?

Last crack before the end of the season on guys who I think could get drafted.

should/be very surprised if not:

Quinn, Bond, Golden, Banks, Williams, Majors, Helm, Collins, Broughton, Sorrell, Barron, Makuba. Thats 12. I set the over under at 12.5. Predicting 11 from this group

maybe (either because might not come out or if come out maybe not drafted):

Taaffe, Campbell, Moore, Blue - give me 2 from this group (but hope it’s 0).  All 4 of these guys will make an nfl roster someday I believe- but 2025 gets a good head start if they are all back in Austin

probably not- but it only takes one:

Bolden, Connor, Gbenda, Holmes

guys who I’d be shocked if they left (and are eligible to leave) but I bet will play in the NFL someday: Burke, Guilbeau, Auburn (just kidding/ still pissed)

give me 1 from this group-

14 total- final guess before seeing who actually declares

Deadline is 15th if we lose- January 24th if we win.

Some think his arms are too short for a tackle in the NFL and may be a better fit at guard. He's still projected as a tackle in most mocks I've seen.

lol wut. The Giants already put a ton of capital into DE with Burns and Thibodeaux, and there's no reason to expect Darnold to be available. The Vikings will either sign him to a short term deal or franchise tag him.

Bond officially going pro. Like that the same way I like Blue going pro. Rather they get drafted as Longhorns for recruiting/portal thread than go somewhere else and have a big season and make it look bad for us.  That guy really torched his status on the way out the door. The anti-Golden.

Decisions left (and my guess)

Williams (gone- too much money to pass up)

Campbell (back- I kept saying look for him to go, and that was the direction he was leaning apparently, but I think the tape is likely catching up with him at a non-elite position of guard instead of tackle)

Taaffe (back- hometown hero- this is his passion- can still get better if he adds 10 pounds between here and coming out)

Moore (gone- but maybe that's just pessimism- Gerry/Bobby are saying back as is IT- but they'd all had him gone I think for the last month)

What are his traits that are elite?  Hard to be the top WR in your class without size, twitch, elite cutting ability, something?  I’m not down on him at all. I just don’t see him as a first round type.

Are his hands elite? I don't recall any/many drops. I feel like that's something that isn't valued in the draft though.

What CTJ and Kev said.  Also seems to be drama free.  While he's not huge, he's certainly not smallish.  I think he'll run a 4.5-4.6 which is plenty fast.  Speed at the position is a bit overrated.  I think it was asshat Michael Irvin that pointed out that at one point there wasn't a HOF wide receiver that ran a 4.4 or below.

Maybe?  I remember a couple drops, 1 particularly against Clemson on 4th down but that stands out as completely an anomaly. His hands are plenty good. That strikes me as day two not day 1 but this is a weak receiver class so, who knows?  I’d be super happy to see him be a first rounder.

Pretty sure that pass was on Quinn (assuming we are talking about the same 4th down).

IT wasn't a great pass and was a bit behind him. It hit both hands and absolutely should have been a catch.  He had another one he should have caught I thought. He got both hands on what would have been a very good catch (was a great throw) in the SEC title game from Quinn.  I'd say his hands are like A-, top 90th percentile- not A+.  That's not a knock. That's literally everything about him- all his traits (size, speed, twitch, athleticism, route running, hands) are good to great but not super elite. I don't know how much the NFL will value that. I'd be very pleasantly surprised if they value that as "First receiver off the board" value.
When I think of elite with those traits I think Worthy for speed and route running, Duvernay for hands, Collin Johnson or Roy Williams for size, stuff like that. Not sure what his calling card in that is.  I guess well above average at everything is a legit calling card but how high does that take you? WE will see in 3 months.  Rooting for it.

Franchise tag is going to be around $45MM for QBs this year; I doubt the Vikings are gonna shell that out for the guy they saw the last two games of the season, especially having used their first rounder on a QB last year. Fucked up as it would be, I could see them bringing back Kirk Cousins at the league minimum, given that he’s going to be getting like $50MM from the Falcons.

Agree the Giants aren’t going to invest in DE; given the state of this QB draft and all the holes the have, they’d be better off dropping down..

I think Roy Williams was only 6'2".  I know we claimed 6'4" at some point.  I don't doubt that physically Roy is well beyond Matt though.

You're right, nothing really stands out about Matt.  He's average to +++ on quite a few things, but he just seems to be an excellent receiver that gets open. For a great route runner, Worthy seemed to have many moments where he's 5 yards from where the ball landed.  Maybe that's a Quinn thing?

I think Matt will be a much better than Dev-Duv in the NFL.

Quinn goes number 1 overall

Round 1 - Ewers, Blue, Bond, Banks
Round 2 - Collins, Barron
Round 3 - Majors, Golden

Round 5 - Blackwell
Round 6 - Holmes

I think most of the juniors will come back for another year. One of the myriad transfer DL probably gets drafted as well.

Houston first round talents that meet needs where they're drafting at 25 and then 58

TE: Tyler Warren, Colston Loveland. Warren seems unlikely at our pick , Loveland seems possible. Fannin Jr and Taylor are interesting in the 2nd round, although they might need a better blocking type than Fannin Jr. Maybe Helm could make sense in the 4th?

OG: Armand Membou, Tyler Booker, Donovan Jackson. Membou and Jackson would fit OZ due to athleticism, while Booker seems to be more of a road grader who could signal a Rams type of change to running at the spine of the defense. I prefer to pass on this position in the first and take one in the 2nd or 3rd while adding a startable vet; an option in the 2nd could be Marcus Mbow. There's also two 2nd round centers, although would Houston take another center early?

WR: Egbuka. This would be adding a cheap good WR2 for at least the next four years, and he'd instantly improve the offense, in a similar fashion to Minnesota adding Jordan Addison. Drafting one in the 1st-2nd would mean they like this guy much more than what they current have outside of Collins. There won't be as much talent in the late 2nd at the position as you're typically accustomed to seeing, but the Tre Harris pick could make sense

DL: Shemar Stewart, Derick Harmon, Tyleik Williams, Kenneth Grant, Nolen Smith. Both San Francisco when Demeco was there and New England with Caserio was there preferred length on the DL, but Demeco also likes juice/burst disruption (BB liked more holding down two-gaps types). I think a high upside DT hitting could send this defense to a next level, and there are some interesting options here. Typically truly difference making DTs need to have high upside athletic traits which is why they're usually only found in the top round and a half, while these other positions might be easier to fill in the 3rd or later. I think Deone Walker could be an option in the 2nd (or any of the others if they fall)

You think Walker is more athletic than Collins? They’re both kind of enigmatic. Collins took forever for the light to go on, but it did. Walker wasn’t as disruptive this year as I figured he would be, given last year. Frankly, Walker sucked this year and Collins blew up. If they’re both projected in bottom part of a top 60/75, I’d rather have Collins.

Not much about him that's not to like.  He's fast enough, gets open easily and has great hands.  It would have been neat to have him for 3 years.

He doesn't have ideal size to be a first round guy, and he doesn't make up for it with 4.3 speed. That will ding him on draft boards, but there isn't much about the player on film that you don't like.

3 QB's in the first 2 rounds if I counted that right, Milroe being third QB. I will bet the over on that as QB's tend to get overdrafted. Could see Quinn with a good offseason going in the first two rounds (I wouldn't take him at all and I like Quinn). I also would have zero part of taking Milroe, that seems dumb.  Other than Quinn I can't think of any other horns (maybe Bond if he runs a smoking 40 time) that I think have much of a chance of going in the first 2 rounds.

3 OT’s going before Banks is crazy to me. He’s probably the best OL in Texas history. I envision him going between 8-12 in the first round. The Cowboys would be nuts to pass on him and pick Burton instead. That would really piss me off. Of course they believe they have their two OT’s. I believe Guyton will fail to improve.

All of these guys are stupidly assuming that Banks falls below this magical threshold of being 6'4, and they think he has short arms for some reason. He has been officially measured and is confirmed to be 6'4 and he will have a better wingspan than most think. Banks will be the first OT off the board.

These draft guys pick a favorite trope for the season and just beat the shit out of it until everyone thinks it is factual. Mel Kiper is still felating Will Levis as this criminally undervalued quarterback, even though he never threw for more than 2500 yards in a season. Chris Simms was fucking the chicken that was Zack Wilson as the best QB in the draft. On and on it goes with no repercussions to their abject stupidity.
