Worthy clocked the fastest time in history and then you know what the Kansas City Chiefs found out? They have to use him exactly the same way Texas did. He didn't go out there and all the sudden become a better deep ball catcher. Mitchell didn't set the world on fire. So perhaps they are what we thought they were?

As a Steelers fan, I kind of like both of these drafts.

Option 1: Shedeur Sanders falls to 21.  Not likely, but it would be interesting to see how he'd fare in Pittsburgh.  I *think* he'd be better than Fields.  Wilson became predictable in the latter half of the season.
Option 2: Golden and Collins to the Steelers in rounds 1 and 2.  Steelers need another WR who's not an insane person.  Add a good DT to eventually take Heyward's place would be great.

Neither of the above will occur, but I like the possibilities.

Expand

It's hard for me to think of Tomlin and Shedeur together. And I don't think it would pay quick dividends, and Tomlin has been without a decent qb for so long, he ain't got time for that shit.

Just a few numbers to support your stance on Worthy.

Tied for 19th in deep ball targets.

Tied for 5th in TDs on deep balls.

No drops on deep balls.

Tied for 16th in contested catches.

Looks like the deep ball and behind the LOS track on a % basis from 2023 to 2024.  That didn’t really track for 2021 and 2022.  As a frosh at Texas he had 9 TDs on intermediate and deep balls compared to 3 his last year.

Expand

78 for 925 yards and a  11.85 av in 20 games -Chiefs

75 for 1014 yards and a 13.52 av in 14 games -Texas

Here are all his targets for the season so you can look through them because you clearly didn't watch the Chiefs play this year. Xavier Worthy is 83rd in the NFL in average per this year. They clearly used him the same way we did.

I gave you numbers.  Told you the long and short of it were similar in 2023 and 2024.    But a rookie season versus a veteran season are different.  He never came off the field for us except blowouts.  I don’t know for certain but would guess KC eased him into the lineup.  I didn’t calculate it but would also guess that his TD/long ball attempt was greater when at KC than junior year at Texas.

But 2021 and 2022 numbers indicate differences.  So at Texas his target depths varied.  Guess he got smaller, weaker and more susceptible to getting knocked off his route.

Let me know when you hit up one of these tailgates.  I’ll come whip your ass.  Maybe add a little BO&W too.

Are we going to ignore the injury issues that KC had at WR that could have contributed to the type of role they needed Worthy to primarily play in this offense. Kelce stated Worthy was being asked to do a lot more than they intended for his rookie season.

Rashee Rice averaged 1.2 ypc than rice.  Chiefs offense just isn’t explosive anymore.  Want an X issue imo

that's the only logical explanation IMHO.

Banks arm length would put him on the shorter side of NFL tackles. However, Penei Sewell is doing just fine though in Detroit with similar measurables and didnt drop

I have to believe a disconnect exists between the mocks and NFL teams boards. Sometimes I think agents will fade some of their guys with the writers in a trade for helium for some of their lower rated clients

Something I heard was that after the top 5 or so it's very fluid up to the middle of the 2nd round basically. Like there are guys that could go 13 or they could go 35.

We'll see what happens.

I get the money/prestige/ego angle of being a low draft pick but I wouldn't mind Texas players falling to better organizations and teams that are in contention.

The flip side of that argument:  recruits will flock to the schools that have the most and highest draft picks.  (And money.)

I’ve seen the fan base up close and personal.  The overwhelming majority ain’t got that much.  In spite of me being old, fat, and anonymous, I’ve got a good 5-10 seconds in me before needing a break.

To give full transparency, I performed minimal research, as I try to avoid that board as much as possible. However, he was arguing some extremely far-sided views and just being an idiot poster overall. Enough that the collective group felt he should go. That’s the extent I’ll describe outside of that hell hole.

Minus618 is a solid handle for when he comes back,  and a pretty impressive score.  Is there a top 5 for negative rep?

If Cam Williams falls to the top of the third, I think he probably should have come back. The drop off in salary/signing bonus is pretty material from where he was originally rumored (late first) to early third (see below). Had he come back (especially if he played LT), it seems like it would have made a real difference.

However, that's just my opinion and I have no real idea what next year's crop of tackles looks like.

Yeah, this. I absolutely want Longhorns to be successful as possible in the NFL (fuck you Jeff Fisher). Being successful is good for the Longhorn brand for sure, but the dividends returns aren't nearly as lucrative as high and multiple draft picks to help recruiting and portal pulls. The top young men be they HS recruit or portal are about getting in the league. League production registers with them, but draft picks draw their undivided attention.
